The Tooth Fairy

Yikes! Note the shadow in the above photo! I'll get better!
Ouch! I endured my golden tooth preparation. Jenny served as the doctor's assistant and she is a super tooth fairy. I'm overwhelmed with thankfulness because Jesus graciously supplied Jenny with this new adventure. She went to get her teeth cleaned and now she has a lovely, warm, and supportive group of people to work for! Just such a short time ago, she worried about finances and now Scott has a fantastic and fun job and Jenny has learned a few years' worth of skills in four months! She hated college and that made me sad. I was mad at her roommate for traveling home every weekend, mad at her professors for not making the course work more appealing and really mad at her work study bosses for demanding so many hours. Oh, and I have to say I really wanted that traditional path for her. But now . . . I am once again looking up at the Lord sheepishly (I do want to be a good sheep!) and saying to Him, "You were right, Smartie! You had this in hand long ago. I'm sorry for thinking like a goat and wanting what the world wants AGAIN." So, Jenny is happily married since July and now expecting a babe. While I sat in the chair at the dentist, I watched The Today Show on the ceiling television and was alarmed to see and hear a feature about the cosmetic market targeting girls as young as six years old. They see beauty on the screen and they also see girls and women altering their beauty with new techniques. I'm looking at the Word's sweet guideline in Paul's letter to Timothy, "I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God." 1 Timothy 2: 9,10. Thanks, Paul! I find this comforting. Today I went to Ross and poked around, finding nothing (yahoo!) and putting back the few things I don't really need before exiting the store. Yesterday I went to Wal-Mart (dumb of me) and tried a few things on (ridiculous looking and I don't need a thing!) and left with some fairy stickers and some new art pens. I want to learn to consume less and I think it means refraining from shopping for now. But, back to the little girls who are courted for their purchasing power. Too bad that little girls quit playing with dolls so soon and too bad more children don't enjoy as many long afternoon playtimes outdoors. What do they need make up for? Above are some photos of Jenny the tooth fairy and the nervous patient. Three more days and I go back to school. I do miss the kids. Thank you for stopping by! I hope you see Jesus today. He's moving among us.
