What Comes Forth

Thank you for your good wishes for my return to school. The kids arrived in my classroom, amazingly calm and accepting. We had NO problems - easy! I have a hard time sleeping before early airport runs. I spent some time writing in my pretty $6.99 journal. When Bill and Jeff are away, I make piles of my supplies and leave them perched around the house.

I brought some inspiring books upstairs. I lose their words when they on the bookshelf too long.

So, tonight I am longing for bed. One more small task to complete for tomorrow and it's off to my green sheets, a silky Christmas gift from Kelli.

But first a promised glimpse of the product of my recent play date. Brad was here a few days ago and he likes to crack codes, so he had already figured out the answers to all my crochet questions. Thanks to his easy instruction, I am granny squaring my way to something bright and cheery! Crochet proves a delightful way to work with color.
I cherish your voices and I'm extremely grateful you make them available to me. This holy opportunity invites me to listen closer to my own voice.

I've read the first two books. It's so nice to read about art from a Christian perspective. I can't wait to read Walking on Water. I think I bought it but can't find it anywhere around here. Oh well, I'll get another copy, and if the first one turns up I'll give it away!

Yes, I agree with Kerri ~ I want to read The Creative Call, too, and thank you for reminding me of Madeleine L'Engle for I need to reread her again. I'm so glad your first day back was an easy one. I think students and teachers both have a hard time coming back from vacations, or from weekends, too. But, I found, it usually only takes five minutes into class and suddenly all is right with the world. Or maybe it's just that five minutes in there is suddenly no time think about anything else but the moment at hand! I love to picture you all safe back at home with your books and journals and your granny squares. xo Kari

So glad that your first day was a good one! I'm coming over for a cup of tea (you can have coffe if you'd like), peppermint with milk and sugar, I can bring tea bag. Oh, and I'll bring my green and brown knitting, and you can guess what it is =) so you'll crotchet away while I knit and we'll have a good good talk.

Now, Pom Pom, my dear, your turn, where will we sit??

Before Christmas went haywire, I was reading Madeline L'Engle on Advent. I'd love to read Walking on Water and another book of hers, cowritten with the poet Luci Shaw. I have the Imagine book, which I've dipped into but haven't finished yet. A book I'd highly recommend is Objects of Grace: Conversations on Creativity and Faith, a book of interviews with visual artists.

I love that granny square! Those colors are so cheerful! I too feel like I need to have some of my books out or else I forget them. Have you read any of the Sarah Breathnaugh books? I love them- bet you would too!

Well, my friend, I've not been a good commenter lately, so I'll make up for that right now! Are ya ready? Ok, first...love the chair post, and my favorite chair is the one in 'The Knitting Nest'. Besides being comfy and warm, it forgives me for my shortcomings of not sitting down long enough to complete so many things I seem to have started last year. I've been spinning lots of plates lately...sometimes with grace as you said, and occassionally...one falls off the sticks. Good thing they are made of paper. Love the colors in your Granny Square, Granny. How are the Grands? I've enjoyed the pictures of little Sam...she's such a good sleeper! I envy you the reading...I'd like to read Walking on Water...think I could get it through Osmosis. I don't seem to sit long enough in the nest to read and I fall asleep when I try to read in bed. Glad to hear the school kids were full of Silent Night that carried over to SilentClass. They'll get geared up again here in a few days...but you know that already, huh? Okay...I think I'm caught up...

I love your granny square, Pom Pom!

I have a few remembered teachers from my school years, and the ones that stand out are the ones who truly cared for their students. I know you are a teacher who is making a difference in the lives of your students.

Your blog is such a bright sunny spot!

Love,
