Happy Birthday!

Twenty-nine years ago today, I became a mother. I was 22 years old, naive and clueless when we brought Brad home from the hospital. My mother came to help and I let her change the diapers. When she left, Bill and I cried. What would we do? How would we go from a busy "on the go" life, working with high school kids to a quiet "stay at home" parenting life? It took about two weeks for me to calm down and become a mother bear. What an initiation our sweet Brad was. He was brilliant from the start. He was and is alert and curious. Soon, Brad, April, CB and Finn are moving to Ft. Collins because Brad will be the new pastor of a dear church there! We're all so happy for them, but I'll miss my boy. They went to Korea for a while and that was hard for this mama, too. I'm so proud of my son and I'm so thankful to the God of the Universe for allowing me to be a mother. Happy Birthday, Pastor Brad. I love you.

There's nothing like a sleeping baby, is there?

Hi, Mama Bear! and Happy Birthday to your very handsome Brad! I love that photo of him with a Rams cap on, backwards, before the Pastor's door. That captures the whole of life in one click, doesn't it? The profound all mixed up with the playful. Have a wonderful birthday celebration! xo Kari

You described me exactly as to when my mother left me and went home after my first son was born. I think I must have had a panic attack and can remember praying hard so as to be a good mother, and to know how to care for this sweet baby I had. God answered and there was and is such a love for both my sons..I thank God for them both. Happy Birthday to your handsome son Mama Bear. I know how you love him..

Hi, PomPom,
Loved your post today and so enjoyed hearing about and seeing your beautiful boy! I raised two of them myself! Please tell Brad I sent birthday greetings, too! Also, thank you for teaching our children and the dedication you have to the teaching profession. As a recently retired teacher, I know how difficult the task can be at times but also how rewarding. Have a lovely rest of the week! Vicki

Oh...such sweet memories! Happy Birthday to Brad! Our son will be 27 next month and I remember being afraid to pick him up out of the bassinet at the hospital, so I can so relate!

Congratulations to him on his new adventure! What a joy for you to watch him grow and see all the things God has for his life!

Blessings Pom Pom!

I know you're very proud of him. Happy Birthday, Brad! Too bad he has to move so far away. I miss my oldest son who is on the other side of the world in Iraq. Sigh...

You are such a sweetie! I can't believe you were only 22 when you had your first baby! No wonder you cried when your Mum went home, I would have too!
