I like the suggestions some of you gave me for how to spend my last day of vacation. I bought one of Tina's knitting patterns (The Quiet Home - the link is on my blog roll) and even though I am 3/4 finished with two cardigans, I might start a gnomelet, a mouse, some knitted vegetables, or a cowl. Might. I am going to drink tea today. I rarely have time for tea at school.
I'm thankful for the sunflowers. They ramble all over our yard. Truth: I think I only put my gardening gloves on 5-7 times this summer. Next summer I will have more dirt, more space and less run-off. Next year I will keep ahead of the wild spinach that has completely overtaken the chimney garden.
Would you wear this color every day if you could? Me, too!
The birds like my clothesline! Thank you, Love Dove, for posing for me this morning.
Jody, I think I may put my chair right here and hide in the flowers. Hot tea, iced tea (I'll make some right now) and soaking up some fresh air before I start spending many hours in the school air sounds like a good idea.
I am going to the fabric store to buy stickers for my journal and buttons for some bunting I'm making for my classroom windows.
What are your plans for this August week?
Do tell!

I can't wait to see your finished Gnomelet! Thank you for buying a pattern sweet friend! I fell in love with your polka dot background and put some on mine, I hope you don't mind!
Your tea-sipping day sounds perfect and I love your little bird on the washing line!
I'm going to knit some more Christmas gifts, read some library books and do lots of cleaning! xxx
I would get a chair and that would be my special place to watch the world from. Did you ever read that charming little book called, "Only the Cat Saw?" Lovely art work and sweet pictures but that is what I think of looking at your pictures. I love that your clothes pins are different colors. I am glad you have one more day...of freedom? I always think it is so nice to have routine. Even if I don't have a much time for other things.
Thank you so much for sharing. Have a wonderful day and a blessed week.
I'm glad that you are going to breath in some fresh air amongst the flowers and soak up a little sunshine before you go back to school. I like the idea of tea drinking too. I hope you have a blessed day.
Hi Pom! Everything in your patch is looking so green & beautiful! I'm sorry you have to go back to school so soon. Seems like summer just got started ;(. Can't wait to see your knitting,
Hugs & hearts,
G
You have inspired me to go make some tea. What a good idea!
This week: On Wednesday early, I drive to the mountains all day. On Thursday, I tie up loose ends for taking my son to college for his freshman year on Friday. Then I drive to my daughter's college, and bring her back to my folks' house in the mtns for the weekend. Lots of driving and visiting, but I hope a fun, happy trip all around. Have a great last day, Pom!!
Love your flowers! And tea sounds lovely. Maybe with a little lemonade mixed in. Enjoy your shopping trip and your lovely day! Kit
That dove is lovely and, yes, posed so beautifully.
I'm finishing up taxes and then headed to the beach. I've business there but hope to also have a little R&R...sitting on the beach, listening to the waves...just enjoy what day God gives me.
Oh yes, purple is my favourite colour and I am sure I have said before - also was grannies - she only wore purple, violet perfume and even had a purple rinse on her lovely soft white hair! I hope I will do that when I am older. This week I am painting some gloss on wall skirtings. washing heavy curtains, walking rescue dogs. Hope you drink tea often - it's so good for you - I have about 5 cups a day!
loved the clothesline shot! :) your sunflowers are beautiful. :)
Well, it is too bad you can't grow a garden like that around your teacher's desk in your classroom. Wouldn't it be great if students had to poke their heads around sunflowers to talk to you? I suppose you already have a garden growing in your classroom.....your students! A garden of beautiful souls growing under your nurture and admonition.
Enjoy your tea, PomPom. We have been sipping, slurping, and guzzling iced tea like there is no tomorrow. I made two huge pitchers last night before I went to bed. Hopefully they will get us through this hot day.
What a sweet post ! Your garden looks so abundant even though it does have wild spinach growing in it. Drinking tea in the sun is one of my most favourite things to do. Sometimes I get a lot achieved by doing so and sometimes nothing at all. I think on your last day I would be more inclined to take a little snooze. Have fun back at school ! (The bunting for your classroom sounds wonderfully pretty)
Gosh, is it time for school again already! I am glad you are taking time to hide among the flowers and drink tea. Wish I could join you, it looks like a lovely location for such an activity.
For me, this week finishes with an anniversary and next week there will be a birthday! August is my favorite month for those reasons....and also because next will be Autumn!
I glad and sad all at the same time for you. Sad to hear that your summer is ending...although I know you love your students and school life, and glad to hear you are knitting! You asked about what I am knitting the other day at the Wednesday Knitters Adios Party...it's another shawl. One of those that you can sit and visit without missing a stitch...sort of mindless knitting. I really enjoyed seeing your Colorodo Sunflowers and pretty green hideaway and garden flowers. None of that for us this year...too hot and strict regulations on lawn watering. Hopefully, next year will be better...I miss my flowers and veggie garden.
My week is going to be dedicated to finishing 3 Needlepoint Stockings, machine quilting for a customer and a bit of knitting. I'll be thinking of you decorating your classroom and making it welcoming to your students. You are soooo good at making everyone feel welcome.
Hope you had a great day! You're making me thirsty for iced tea! I think I'll go get a glass. I'll be working all week, as usual, but I hope to have oases (is that the plural of oasis?) of drawing zentangles, Mod Podging dried flowers to my scripture journal, meditating on the Word and having inspirational thoughts to write in said journal. It's also nice to have some quiet time to sit with hubby, watch TV and discuss life. Hugs to you, and hope we hear from you when you have time! :D
Well, the day is almost over and I did drink the tea (raspberry iced!) and run to the fabric store. I got tangled up in a book and now I can't put it down.
Really, all I have to do tomorrow is show up. No preparation. Yay!
Thank you to all of you for taking the time to leave detailed and personal comments. I'm blown away by blog friendship. I really am.
Knitting tonight? We'll see.
(BIG HUG!)
What a lovely end of summer vacation day! Yes, I would definitely wear that colour every day if I could! And I'd have my tea any day in that lovely green sunflowered space! Hope tomorrow / today back at school goes well - there's always something invigorating I think about the beginning of the new academic year though ours in the UK doesn't start quite as early. Used to love the new pencils, new uniform, new books etc that accompanied each early September as a child. Enjoy and hope you don't feel too wistful. E x
I love your sunflowers, they are so beautiful! We can't seem to grow them in our yard...I say we, but actually my husband is the gardener in the family. (I'm not so good with plants.) Tea drinking sounds wonderful, and I'm glad that you enjoyed a lovely day! Speaking of tea...that reminds me, I made some sun tea today for my husband, and need to bring it in from outside. I hope your day goes well tomorrow, and you have a wonderful day!! :)
Oh Pom Pom you are a treasure. Thankyou for your lovely comment on my blog. I would be as happy as a little piggy in mud if I were to find the missing pieces of my Dolly Tea set. Big hugs for your kindness and for making me smile x
I am with you! Nothing like a nice cup or glass of tea and some quiet time in the garden. Wishing you a very happy school year, dear friend~Sending love and hugs to you~Vicki
I like where you would put your chair for tea. Hard to believe that our summer is nearly over, isn't it. I have this week then next with meetings, so I am resting and trying to get organized. Organized. Didn't I have all summer to do that?
Thank you for your kind words and good wishes, friends!
I survived day one. We had SO many meetings and there are LOTS more meetings to come.
Sigh.
Oh, I love the dove on the clothes line. And the gorgeous morning glories, and the sunflowers, and the tea. Sigh.
Have a good week back at work, PomPom.
Sitting amongst the flowers with tea and knitting....bliss! I will have to make do with the tea and knitting indoors as the weather is too stormy and wet for outside relaxation! Cx
