It was cloudy outside today when our class lined up by the flag pole. We enjoyed a powerful ceremony in honor of our soldiers.
Shiny shoes and fancy stepping brought the flag to the pole while bag pipes played.
We had a chance to say thank you to our firemen and our local policemen. The students behaved beautifully. Some of them wore their scout uniforms. They each had a small flag and when they were instructed to fly their flags they immediately held them up. When the directions guided them saying, "flags at rest" they immediately lowered their flags. One of my students offered to take my camera (smile) and shoot some photos. He did a wonderful job! He managed to capture some sweet smiles.
And now some simple "day-to-day doings"!
Tonight the September clouds were spooky!
The leaves are still green and fresh.
Marigolds continue to bloom.
The nighttime lights are popping on sooner now.
It's time to harvest Jeff's tomatoes.
Bill's home from New Zealand and Australia. Now we'll sleep soundly all night long in these silly Christmas stocking sheets. I wake up a lot when he's gone and sometimes I even turn on the lamp and read for a while in the middle of the night. He's home until we go to Maine in October! Woo hoo!
My friend Gigi from My Firefly Cottage likes bacon and she talks about it sometimes. It DOES smell delicious in the morning, doesn't it? Do you think breakfast is the most important meal? What's that old saying about eating breakfast like a king, lunch like a . . . what? Do you remember? Well, I find I function much better when I have a sturdy breakfast and I don't mind smelling like bacon either.
I'm painting Ratty, Mole, and Mr. Toad. It's taking a while. Soon they will be ready for their passport photos and their trip to a USA locale. They'll jump all over America before they journey across the ocean. I do have a friend in Tanzania and another friend in Uganda. Do you think they should go to Africa? Mags and I are charting their course and it's not too late to join us. Leave me a "yes" in the comment form and we shall add you to the list of stops.
Are you having a smooth September? Are you ready for fall? I am happy tonight and that's enough. I wish you pancakes and bacon.

Definitely ready for fall here. It's supposed to be 90 on Wednesday, but then low 70s by the weekend. Can't wait. Perfect weather for that pancake and bacon breakfast you are showing. I love the smell of bacon, but try to reserve eating it for an occasional treat.
I would have loved to have seen your students at the special ceremony. Sounds so cute.
Why did you have to post that picture of pancakes and bacon? Now I (or maybe it's the baby) want to eat that, and it's too late at night and I have no bacon!
Oh yes, breakfast is definitely the most important meal! ..coz is the only time of the day when I treat myself with sweets and cakes, he he!

Hi PomPOm, great flag pole ceremony. I bet those firemen get a cooked breakfast! I give my boys a toasted bacon sandwich or fried egg with bacon and toast or a sausage in toast every morning with a cup of tea - the most important meal of the day I think!
Oh please....no more photos of pancakes and bacon!
Yummm, bacon!
And so glad your ceremony went so well -- lovely tribute.
Hugs,
GG
My mother is already planning salmon and sweet potatoes tonight, or I'd for sure be making pancakes and bacon! Bacon and syrup -- mmmmm! Bacon is my favorite meat. Your September skies are stunning and spooky - love that! And I'm envying your tomatoes, I'm sorry to say. Ours are about gone.
Looking forward to that visit from Rat, Mole and Toad!!
Yes, to Ratty, Mole and Toad!
When my hubby sees a hole in the clouds, like in your photo, he always likes to imagine that Jesus is going to step through it and come back for us...right now! :)
Beautiful sky shots!
Glad your hubby is home. It makes things so much cozier!
Keep on enjoying those kiddos at school. Looks like you're having a beautiful fall!
Those flannel sheets are adorable. I don't like it when my husband travels - it throws us all out of sync :) Bacon...yummmmm
I'll play anything with you sweet friend. I don't know how the trio is traveling but I'm certain that they would love Central Oregon. Yes!!
I'm so impressed by the ceremony at your school. And thankful that respect for our public servants and our country are being so well taught!
Blessings, Debbie
Thank you so much for visiting me at Home is Where the Heart is, its a pleasure meeting you.
What a special way the kids greeted your local fireman and police. My Daughter's boyfriend is a fireman..
My husband travels for work from time to time and I don't sleep well either when hes gone. Things just don't seem right when hes gone. I love your Christmas stocking sheets, they so warm and comfy. We are still have warm weather here and I can't wait for fall to come.
I have become your newest follower and look forward to visiting you again.
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
Oh know, I just left you note and it didn't show up...I hope you receive it.
If not please let me know and I will write it again.

I would love to have Ratty, Mole, and Mr. Toad come visit us in Ontario!
Those sheets are adorable. I've decided my next set of flannel sheets has to be fun! Winter seems to last forever here, so I might as well make it fun.
Your student took some wonderful photos -- and so did you!
Big hugs!
Deborah
That's a fabulous photo, the one of the fire fighters, well done! Yes, I adore bacon but only eat it a couple three times a month. Pancakes the same way but, perhaps, we'll have them this morning...when Dave crawls out of bed! He has cancer so I let him keep his own hours and I adjust around him. It makes for a wonky home life but it's better than no home life at all, eh?
Ratty, Mole and Mr. Toad are welcome to visit Thistle Cove Farm and I promise to keep them safe from the dogs and cats!
Barn chores await and I need to can tomatoes today; you are blessed so go, be a blessing.
xoxo in Him...
What a good way for the students to honor their local fire/police/emergency folks. Spreading some patriotism around is always good.
Those tomatoes look divine. Mine are still so slow to ripen. I may have to push a shovel into the ground next to their roots.
I love me some bacon and pancakes and eggs and all things breakfast. I do think breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And I remember that old saying like this:
Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and supper like a pauper.

My husband loves breakfast! He loves to cook it on weekend mornings. And he loves his bacon. Since we have been doing Weight Watchers we found that we can still eat center cut bacon. Can you believe it? A diet where we can enjoy bacon! That is like some of the greatest news to us. haha Sad but true.
I think I said "yes" over at Mags' place, but just in case it wasn't clear, yes!
Bacon smells wonderful and tastes wonderful and no home should be without it, unless it's a kosher home, of course.

p.s. I mailed the books--I hope they're there soon!
have missed being able to visit you Pom Pom but am so pleased to hear that your school year has begun with great happiness~!
Our tomatoes are about to overgrow us and my wonderful daughter will be busy canning some up this afternoon and probably for many more afternoons to come. we've been blessed with a plentiful garden despite the rather cool spring/early summer weather.
today has started out with rain and clouds and much cooler temperatures . . . i don't know about pancakes and bacon but there will be a cup of hot cocoa for sure . . .
:-)

Is there anything cuter than firemen and Christmas stocking sheets? :) And a huge fry up for brekkie! Yum.
Such fun sheets! I suppose christmas isn't so far away anymore. I'm glad Bill is home! I don't sleep well when Dean is away either. I keep waiting to be a proper brave grown up but I don't think it's going to happen :)
I love the photo of the flowers! So pretty :) The food shots are making me really hungry... gah!

It took me this long to do research on Ratty, Toad and Mole to find out if your hands were the source of this recent traveling incarnation -- what a fun project, and you did very well! I so admire your Wind in the Willows verve and your drawing skills. They are very cute! AND I'm glad I didn't tune in too awfully late, so I can follow them on the rest of their journey.
