Funny

Hello from Green Peak!  Just kidding.  You know I'm in the Green Gables mood.  Yes, I'm thinking about the sea and the seagulls and boats.  I even made two new categories on my Pinterest boards.  One is boats and the other is the sea.  Would you be interested in a field trip to Prince Edward Island?  If I win the lottery (I'll try to remember to buy a ticket or two), we'll go.  Wouldn't that be fun?

Bill has been riding away in the morning.  July mornings are glorious.

The lilies are blooming!

The volunteer sunflowers are shining their pretty faces all over the garden.
Remember how I was crocheting an apple cozy?  Today Mags commented that her cozy was turning into an orange cozy and as I was working on my cozy, grapefruit entered my mind.  I finished it tonight and went straight to the store to get a watermelon.  I know.  It's funny!  I DID follow the directions, just not the "what size hook" part or the "gauge" part or the "kind of yarn suggested" part.

And about that "sponge" cake.  I had to throw it away today.  It was not spongy.  It was dense and resistant to the knife.  Tomorrow, I am going to do something a bit more purposeful than crocheting a sweater for a watermelon.  Smile.  Thank you for stopping in to chuckle at my exuberant handiwork.  Our kids still tease me about a really big mitten I made years ago.  When I told Kelli about the apple-gone-watermelon cozy, she said, "Well, I guess watermelons need cozies, too."

So why does a water mellon need a sweater? Love the lady bug button. You just make me laugh. Thanks.

Kelli's one liner had me in stitches :) You are both so funny. My visit here has set me up for the day - thank you.

Too cute PP! A lot of my makes end up as bags...it's a standing joke around here! I suppose you could crochet a long handle for your melon-cozy and turn it into a bag? :)

Oh PomPom - only YOU could make an aple czy big enough for a water melon - it just shows what a big heart you have!
I cannot crochet at all, and suspect if I tried, my cozy would come out blueberry-sized.
I have a bowl of NAKED fruit here- please don't tel the church members, they would be shocked.
blessings xx
ps add me to the Prince Edward Island Trip please - if Kate & William can go, I think I should too !!

I loved Anne of Green Gables, wouldn't it be fun to walk into a timeslip and find you were there in her world! I think the apple cosies are pretty but maybe a watermelon size would double up as a babies bonnet - useful! Yes, if you win the lottery could I come to the Island Trip please? I think Kate would join in and be one of the girls. Edward might feel a bit out of place with all the crochet apple cosies and apron sewing going on though so we would have to find him something to do - he's an action man so maybe to make us all tree houses to stay in?

I would go to Prince Edward Island with you in a heartbeat (so would Amy!!). We ♥♥♥♥ Anne of Green Gables in this house. A friend went a few years ago and brought me back some Anne bits and pieces including a little doll which sits on my dressing table :)
Your apple cosy is fab! The ladybird just completes it perfectly!

No derogatory comments about fruit cosies, please! That's about as much purpose as my days have had for weeks! Angela has beaten me to a comment on how Kate and Wills will be going to Prince Edward Island- apparently she requeste it be included in the Tour because she loved the books so much as a girl! (I'm whispering that I've only ever read one A of GG book, and watched some more of it on TV when I was young!)

Your comments are so great! I'm glad we have such an enthusiastic response to the PEI tour. We'd be so rich that we could hire a tour director and stay in a lovely bed and breakfast. We could have seminars about apple cozy making on the shores of the Lake of Shining Waters.

All the watermelons of the world salute and thank you!! Besides, watermelons are often put on ICE (apples never are), so don't they need the cozies more?

Count Me In! I'm agoing to PEI with you. Think of all the fun things we could do!

That is so funny. It turned out to be a nice one for a watermelon. We all have to start somewhere. You should see my first rug I hooked, It now holds down the house in case we have a big wind. It weighs a ton.

I want to go on a field trip to Prince Edward Island if you win. :)
Have a lovely day.

I'm still laughing. PEI dream trip of a lifetime. I have green gables on my house too.

Oh Pom Pom, you crack me up. Maybe you could crochet some handles and carry it for a purse? Or find a big watermelon sized rock?

I'm jealous of your weather and your flowers and Bill's ability to bike in the morning. It is not even 10am and I hear the locusts singing outside (it is hypnotic) and the sun is streaming in and I keep hoping the a/c will kick on sooner than later.

Have just shown watermelon to PC who likes it A LOT. It did strike me that my Jo and your Kelli should have a serious talk about the distinction between needing something and wanting something. He is certainly leaving us in no doubt on any and every occasion....

Cosies for the fruit! There was a time in the 60's when I was knitting all sorts of things and my husband wondered if the Tv would end up with a cover!!!!!

Hee hee -- love the watermelon cosy!
And yes, thank you very much, I'd love to go to PEI -- have wanted to for years. Don't you know it's all green and flowery and soft sea breezes?
So Bill is a biker . . I mean cyclist . . . there's a big difference there, isn't there ;)? Are you watching Tour de France? I'm trying but can't seem to get my heart in it now that Lance is gone ;(.
So glad to see you're enjoying your summer so much!
Hearts,

Please sign me up for the Prince Edward trip! And sign me up for some watermelon cozies, too--we've got lots in the backyard and they get chilly at night!

I will DEFINITELY go with you to PEI. I've always wanted to go. We're repainting our house like Green Gables; white with green trim. I'm loving it! Too bad about your sponge cake. They really are wonderful. I'm going to make one soon. I'm still trying to recreate the perfect one I ate at Chatsworth House in England. It had raspberry jam in the middle and almond fondant icing on the top. Oh my goodness! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

Well Pom Pom you're well on the way to becoming a crochet graffiti artist! I saw a "tree cosy" just recently. Rob's profile pic on FB was a picture of a knitted bus for a very long time..he loved it, so he would probably love the watermelon cosy too. It would be a very funny gift for someone who had never heard of such frivolousness..imagine their discomfort in trying to figure out just what to do with it all!! What a sweet, sweet poster. Well Annie certainly looks a lot perkier although she appears to have been scuffing her shoes again! I don't suppose we could really go too far wrong reading all those lovely childhood books again at this stage of life..what a grand plan. Did you watch Pollyanna? Rob has fixed his bike now so he rode to work again today..even though it's winter..not very cold though, yet & certainly no snow! yay. Much love Catherine xoxo

Oh Pom Pom!! I am laughing out loud here! A watermelon cozy! It is very pretty and I really like the lady bug button. Maybe your new grandbaby would fit into it -- like a cozy cocoon.

Love the flowers. My lilies are just about to open. Can't wait!

Happy day!

I'm all for a watermelon cozy if it stops the watermelon from rolling all over. I love that ladybug button!
