April, Good April

Hello. It's time again for A Pause in Lent. Already! One more week until Easter Sunday. For dinner: a big pork loin, cheesy potatoes, asparagus, watermelon, and banana bread. For dessert: A cake covered with jelly beans. Easter dinner is easy. Last year I ate quite a few chocolate bunnies, but this year I do not think chocolate bunnies sound yummy. Maybe next year. Do you have an Easter dress or a special Easter outfit?
I would like one. If I had time (or the sewing magic mood) I would make a blue and white stripe cotton skirt, an underskirt of calico, a soft cotton (flouncy, very flouncy) blouse and a pink print apron. I would wear bunny slippers (you know, for the bunnies). Well, maybe I'll wear my ivory salwar kameez and the silk scarf that one of my students brought me when he returned from a wedding in India, just a short time ago.

But next week is Holy Week. After all the hoopla on Palm Sunday, when Jesus rode into town on a donkey and He knew what was coming and how He would very soon be bearing the world's sin . . . His friends would not stand up for Him. The world would turn very, very dark and our Jesus would die. Good Friday.
Then - the glorious Resurrection.
I've had 52 Easters. He IS the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

. . . and April showers are refreshing.

The blossoms are prettier than a picture.

It's windy enough for pinwheels.

And twenty-five years ago, I had an April baby. Remember the sweet smell of a newborn baby sent straight from heaven's gates?

Bill and I had a skillet dinner with lots of ketchup (ha ha, we are NOT fancy eaters) and I am grading written work. My students wrote about music, their favorite songs and how the songs they love connect to their lives. Some of them are so deep, so dear.
Lately, I've been playing music to read by at school. They like piano music and they've been reading their Hero's Journey novels with that lovely deep reading-zone look on their faces.

Just like the wind that blows the pinwheels, the Holy Spirit will blow into your world, into the corners of your house, into the recesses of your soul. You are loved. You are cherished. You are precious.
I wish you a holy Holy Week.

I wish you a blessed Holy Week, too! I love the sound of your festive Easter Outfit. I have been gathering goodies to surprise my kids with, but after that I don't know what else we are doing. I should work on that! =)

Thanks PP for that lovely post. I was born on Easter Sunday Morning, 56 years ago [allegedly it was the one and only time my dad was late for church!]
We are trad Brits here, and have roast lamb for lunch at Easter [and Hot Cross Buns on Good Friday]
My Easter outfit, if I had time to make it would be a pretty, swishy skirt and a cardi with ruffles round the neck! And strappy sandals [not bunny slippers]

blessings xx

I've not planned our Easter Sunday lunch - but it will probably involve lamb. I want to try to make hot cross buns too.

Thank you for your Pauses In Lent...I've not always commented, but I've read them & appreciate what you have said. May God bless you & your loved ones this Easter.

what a lovely post. I wish our flowers were blooming but it is cold and windy and rainy today. Perhaps next week for Easter it will be warm out. Happy birthday to your son. My daughter and step-daughter will be 23 next month.

Lovely.
Our Easter meal will have to be in the evening, as we shall be at church in the morning, from where it is a 40 min drive back. I'm not sure what we will be having yet!

Your post is full of truth, hope, and joy in everyday things, blessings every one. A blessed Holy Week to you.

This Easter will be my 60th - I was born a few months after Easter, so I missed the one the year of my birth....although, now that I think about it, it's possible I attended Easter service while in my mother's womb....so perhaps we can say this will be my 61st Easter! Oh my....! And I'm as unprepared with a lovely Easter outfit this year as I was then...

A dream Easter outfit for me would be something in pink and white..a nice 1950's style dress. Of course, it is always too cold here for that but I can dream!
Easter lunch will probably be a nut roast with all the trimmings (we are vegan). I was Christened on Palm Sunday 49 years ago, so today is like an extra birthday!

Happy Holy Week, Pom Pom. And Happy Birth-day to you (you did the birthing) and Bill. How nice you could have a skillet supper together. (I am a skillet cooker too)

For my Easter Sunday outfit, I'd choose a skirt, maybe navy with white polka dots, a crisp white shirt and a grass-green cardigan. No bunny slippers until I get home from church to finish the Easter Dinner, and even then they will be woolly-lined slippers.

I am an Easterish baby as well, yesterday. (I don't actually know for my birth year).

Love your post, I wish you a happy Holy Week also, because you are also precious.

A blessed Holy Week to you, dear Pom Pom!

We will have ham and asparagus and potato salad for Easter dinner. The boys will probably be stuffed with chocolate, and I will want to be stuffed from chocolate, but I'll do my best to stay away from it!

I need to find something to wear for Easter services! Thanks for reminding me!
