Strike Two - Sorry Kelli!

I should have listened to my inner cake baker and heeded the warning. It's Kelli's birthday and SuKnitWitty said, "Try Bundt." It looked pink and creamy in the mixing bowl . . .

and looked quite delicious just out of the oven . . .

Disaster struck. Should I try again? Any tips?
Oh well, we went off to P.F. Chang's to celebrate Kelli's special day. Birdie came, too. Jenny and Sam also joined us.

We took our Sunday Stroll at the mall.

We stopped to buy birthday dolls for Miss Bug and Birdie.

It's been snowing and cold all day and I'll buzz back to Kelli's to babysit so they can go out to dinner, but I like being home right now.

The poinsettia is still gracing me with her flowery self. Thank you, pretty girl.

Kerri from Songs of Light posted pictures of beautiful chickens and freshly laid eggs today and I ate one of these brown eggs for breakfast. I'm so glad that some of my blog friends have chickens! It's almost lambing time at Gumbo Lily's and I can't wait for THAT! Also, if you want to view some beautiful New Zealand children, go to Heart Felt and look at Sadie who loves HER doll.
There are so many lovely things to think about. Lambs, chickens, children, art, Valentine's Day, quilts, curtains, PRETTY cakes, husband and son coming home early in the week from far off South Africa, good films, sunny classrooms, sweet sons who talk to their mamas on the phone and WELCOME her phone calls (smile) and a zillion other pleasures that we all embrace and delight in. May you have a heart-dancing kind of a week. Thank you so much for stopping by today. I love your visits.

I love your egg picture! Chicken's are so curious and fun and determined to keep trying till they get what they want. Maybe I should study the chicken to learn about life! Happy Birthday to Kelli too!

Ah... yes, I too had a baking 'challenge' this weekend. I thought it would be okay to use a pizza tray as a baking tray for the 40 odd cupcakes I baked with Isobel (Mike's 9 year old daughter who came to stay)... and they burnt on the bottoms. Crispy is good for pizza, not so good for fairy cakes!

Put pink icing on them though!

Too bad about the cake, I have had things like that happen too, I throw alot of frosting on to cover up the problems. I bet it still tasted great.

Pom,
We really ARE kindred spirits after all! I cannot, for the life of me, get a bundt cake out of a pan without a mishap like you've had. Neither am I very good with the double layer type cakes. When my dd lived her, she seemed to be able to de-pan a cake easily and she was always in charge of that step in my cake baking. But now that she's married I have no one to de-pan my cakes. So what to do? Make 9x13's. Or my favorite: CUPCAKES!

Love seeing the Babes and thank you for the little blip about our lambies. We had twins born this morning and twins born this afternoon. I've been fussing with them because it's so devilish cold here. I need to take the camera next trip to the shed. You're the only one who knows about my lambies so far.

Oh, how funny--I had the same thing happen to me yesterday! And last Sunday, too. I don't know what's up with my bundt pan. Is it a matter of not enough Pam? I wish I'd used the ancient angelfood cake pan instead. But Angela's right--tons of frosting covers a lot of ills!

Oh, your poor cake! Did you spray PAM all over it heavy and thick? They have a new spray that is a specifically for baking and I really like it. Maybe it isn't meant to be. I like the idea of cupcakes, too. :)

Sounds like you had a relaxing and fun weekend.

What is it about pink cakes, that they disintegrate on you, Pom Pom. I seem to remember when you made the last one you expected it to do that, didnt you, so it must somehow be because of its pinkness! Does the pink ingredient make it disintegrate somehow, do you think? Still tasted great though, I bet. x
