Yay for October! It is supposed to reach 82 degrees today so the sun is still warming walkers on our neighborhood sidewalks. I found this rose along my route in a very weedy garden. People are tired of pulling weeds.
Samantha and Plum Cake were in a picky mood yesterday morning. They love "harvesting" the marigolds. The marigolds can take it! They are STRONG!
There are sprigs of lavender in the garden, too!
I think the squirrels are sharpening their teeth on our pumpkins. Oh well. We have two big ones and lots of little ones (pumpkins, not squirrels!) Bill has also seen a snake in our garden. Thankfully, I have not SEEN the snake. Shiver.
Hollyhocks and morning glories skirt the side of our house.
See what I mean? The marigolds are so happy!
Monday I went walking on the trail with a friend and we peeked at this pretty storybook house through the trees. (a VERY expensive storybook house by the way)
Rock 'em sock 'em ORANGE! October is orange, don't you think?
This morning I glued Gumbo Lily's sheep and Heather's (Blackberry Rambles) sheep in my journaling Bible. I also blew up both photos and framed them but I am waiting for a cleaning bug to bite me because I am hanging them in the family room and it needs a good scrub. When that is finished I'll reward myself with two big sheep pictures on the white walls. I'll show you, too.
Bright red leaves are landing in the back yard. Grands are noticing them and telling us about them (or giving them to us like little James). I put the leaf James found in my Bible. I wrote his name on it and the date.
One more zucchini picked today. Happy October!

What great pictures, Karen. I love all the fall things- those flowers are amazing and someone got one beautiful rose this time of year. Loving that little storybook house, too.

Yay for autumn, i love the colors of fall!!! your sheep images look pretty darn cool!!!!
What beautiful pictures and fantastic colors!
We have clouds that look sort of like rain. :) Your zucchini is so pretty. I love that you said the squirrels are sharpening their teeth on your pumpkins. I cracked up. I hope some survive.
Your marigolds are beautiful. It makes the prettiest yellow dye.
I like your pictures. They will look very pretty.
I hope you have a lovely day.
Your flowers and the zucchini are so pretty. Everything around here is about gone. The bright orange marigolds are perfect for fall.
I like your sheep pictures a lot, they are going to make a great feature on that wall! Lovely to see you are out so much and getting such nice weather, we are Autumnal here but with hot spells in early afternoon. We may have a bbq at the weekend (oldest boys 21st) if the weather holds. I am having so much fun collecting the red and orange leaves - it's the best time of year for colour - my favourite Season. My book arrived - it's a good one, you were right. Betty
October is starting off on a lovely note in your neighborhood.
Yes, I would agree about October being orange :).
Love your hollyhocks and pumpkin too.
Happy October!
It looks as though your garden is still going very well indeed! The marigolds seem to be thriving on being deheaded often! xx
Your marigolds, hollyhocks and courgettes (ha, zucchini!) are amazing. My Mum was harvesting marigolds today too when I went round to see her- she makes marigold balm with it! I do like orange!!x
And the SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!! I love them!x
Ocotber around your house, is very lovely.
Our flowers have about "had it." :-) Except on the front stoop. Where they just won't quit.
What a gorgeous yard and flowers you have, PomPom. It indeed makes me happy. Got a journaling Bible yesterday and will fix it up similar to what you did!
Oh I love the marigolds. Have plenty of them in my yard still blooming too.
82, don't think that will happen around here. We are in the 50's today.
October really is rich and generous! Looks like a neighborhood to walk in. Amen on being tired of weeding.
I finally did a good cleaning of my house only motivated by overnight company coming!
I think James giving you a leaf gift is so sweet. I'm glad you put it safely in your Bible.
Fall is finally descending, isn't it? We will enjoy the rain--if we really do get some. Love the photos that you will frame. Have a happy weekend.
Hi! Such colorful flowers! It seems when it gets colder the marigolds get brighter! I have some zinnias hanging in there yet too. Growing up we raised sheep. Loved feeding the bottle to little lambs that needed it! Nancy
What a lovely, happy post! The garden looks wonderful, so bright and colorful.
Enjoy the weekend.

Look at that marigold! So huge. Glad you are having a good Fall. We are finally cooler and cloudy and it feels very cozy around here. Leaves are falling like mad. :) Kit
I love those marigolds! Yes, October is full of orange. I always think of the *O* in October as a bright, orange pumpkin. The leaf is sweet and I like that you're saving James' leaf in your Book.
Cute, cute storybook house! We'll be happy in our Ordinary Houses, won't we?
Your October is very warm and full of colorful flowers. Ours is in the 50's and full of colorful leaves. :) Love the sheep in your journal Bible. I look forward to seeing the framed ones on your wall.
-clapping hands- I think I solved the "Blog Size Issue" for Everyone!!!!!
Tessa
what a colorful oct...i am envious. typing w/1 hand so will keep it short.
Great place for those photos!!! I love marigolds -- because we always grew them around our veggie garden when I was a child. Fall smells like marigolds to me. I need to go out and pick some more (because they grow around my veggie garden now too!)
