Finally a Yarn Along

I FINALLY (after blogging forever and reading ABOUT Ginny's Yarn Along) figured out how amazing Ginny is and how fun it is to Yarn Along with others.  You share your current read and your current knitting.  Look how itty bitty my beginning is.  Hmmmm.  I'm having to look up techniques again which is how we grow. I know this.  Kelli gave me this VERY COOL and very beyond me shawl book and the cushy alpaca, too.  I had a crazy time winding the first ball (I don't have a swift) and I had to keep telling myself, "You're patient.  You can endure.  You won't get it all tangled like you have done so many times before."  For the next skein I shall enlist a granddaughter's hands and promise her a long back tickle/massage in return.
The book Journaling as a Spiritual Practice is a delightful surprise.  I added it to my cart when I was ordering a few meaningful books from my past (Christianbook.com).  Now I had to order the Journaling Bible (NKJV) as well and it should come today.  I have piles of books on the go right now. It's a little much. More on all this knitting/bookishness later.
Thank God for the sunflower display.   The wild ones and the Mammoths.  And thank God for the morning glories, even though they hug everything.  They are indeed glorious.
Long ago when I began the hollyhocks I didn't know they'd keep coming.  I'm so happy they do.  They are so cottage-y and hearty.  Bless them.
Bill's in Australia and I fear our sprinkler system isn't working right so I have to Google how to fiddle with the control box today.  Another scary thing in our little patch is the abundance of bunnies.  Usually, I don't mind them but when I saw this little darling back by the tubes and wires I began to suspect some chewing.  Drat!
The other day Samantha and Plum Cake picked and picked marigolds and made a big pile in the grass.  I encourage children to pick flowers (and beans!) around here.  It's so satisfying.
I hope you go over to Ginny's even if you don't knit. I know Gill does the Yarn Along and I think Heather from Blackberry Rambles does Words and Wool (is that the same?)  Ginny has lots of sponsors and is one of those higher profile blogs.  I love her photos and her words.
Roll on September and happy Wednesday.  A good day.

Ohhhh, bunnies nibbling on wires! Eeeek!!! There are enough nibbling troubles, with squirrels.

Welcome to the club! So glad you finally joined in on Yarn Along. I remember how daunting my first "real" knitting book was. A friend gave it to me for my birthday and I felt a little overwhelmed at all the complicated patterns. Years later, that book, Weekend Knitting, is still on my bookshelf inspiring me.

Welcome Pom Pom, I'm so glad you are here on Yarn Along day.
I have had my eye on your book, and the yarn you are using for
your shawl, swoon.
As for winding since you don't have a swift, how about putting it on the back of a chair and hand winding from there? There are times I just like the motion of winding a ball and that is what I do to avoid a tangled mess.
Enjoy a beautiful day!

That yarn looks lovely. It looks like you're getting very serious about knitting. I can knit but seldom have time lately. In the past I have knitted mittens and socks, touque, sweaters and scarves when the kids were young. I seldom have time to knit now and if I do, it takes me an eternity to finish.

That's big rabbit and where's there's one there's many and big trouble with chewing and eating gardens.
I hope they haven't chewed your wires and all is well.
Hugs,
JB

Yikes, I never even thought about bunnies chewing on wires. Oye! How fun to pick those marigolds! You have a bounty of them. The journaling book sounds good. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Oh look at all those wonderful flowers. Here on our farm, the flowers are starting to dwindle as fall is fast approaching. Thank you for stopping by my blog!

Oh how nice!!! Megan used to do it all the time. I love all of your flowers. I think that bunny looks guilty.
Have a lovely September day!

Oh, your shawl looks like it will be lovely!

The flowers are so pretty. How fun for there to be lots of marigolds to pick!

Your yarn looks really lovely. I've been considering a white/cream shawl as a future project. So classic! And the journaling books sounds like a good one. I will check it out!

Oh, I hope that cute bunny isn't chewing on wires!

Welcome to Yarn Along! I have "met" some of the nicest people by reading about their knitting projects. :) I can't wait to see your shawl come together. And, oh, those sunflowers...my favorite!

I like your idea of a "knit along." Sounds fun and encouraging!

And I like your sunflowers. Right now, sunflowers are the "it" in my flower beds along with black-eyed Susans. I'm thankful for them, otherwise I'd have very little flowers.

I have to ask, "Do your Littles pop the tops off the marigolds when they're making their flower piles?" My grandies do that. I think it's funny that they love to pop the heads off.

Happy September1

That bunny, though mischievous, is still awfully cute... :-)
Your yarn looks so soft I'm sure it will knit up beautifully!

so glad to see you on yarnalong!!!! hope you'll be back!!! Good for you for plunging right in with the project....you must start somewhere...and you've started with a lovely lovely fiber!!! (I personally love to hand wind....using the back of a chair, I just feel I get to know my fiber while it's passing through my fingers!!!)
I just started Bible journaling, too!!!! Not very productive with it yet, but I'm enjoying it. I've seen that book recommended, but haven't known anyone who has actually owned it. Please report back on how you like it!!!

Knitting seems like such a fun yet useful hobby.

Love Hollyhocks. Mine are self-seeding rampantly this year. I wonder why since we've had an exceptionally dry and hot summer.

I wish I were knitting more, but I can't--I just can't sit that much without my shoulders getting wonky. But looking at your yarn makes me want to! I have half of a swift--do you want it? I think it's the winder half that clamps to a table top. I can send you a picture.

Yarn Along is so much fun - welcome! That shawl book looks gorgeous - I will definitely have to see if my library has a copy. I love to make shawls as the fit doesn't matter!
Your garden looks divine. I love flowers. It is just spring here in Australia, and I have lots of flowers seeds started. So hopefully I will have a gorgeous display like yours in a few months.

A lovely yarn along with you! Your knitting might be itty bitty so far, but I am sure that it will soon grow! I really like the colour of the yarn you are using. xx

your knitting might be tiny now but soon it will be mighty!! Glad to meet you and see your beautiful flowers :)

those little bunnies must have messed your sprinkler power supply, oh dear - be careful how you fix it. Maybe you can cover the cables? We don't have problems like this with bunnies where we live, but rats last winter chewed through my shed floor and the everything stored inside - your post has prompted me to go and check the electric flexes on our karcher and other electric products we keep out there as I had never though to! Lovely to see you are reading and knitting and doing homely things :D Betty

I don't knit, but occasionally crochet. Sounds like you'll have great fun with this yarn-along! You sound like such a lovely person, Pom! I think I would very much enjoy knowing you in real life!

I hope the bunnies haven't done any damage! It's hard to be mad at such cute creatures. Much love!
