Tea Fun

My mom sent special scone mix a few months ago.  We needed it for at least one tea party while she is here.  Yummy!  We don't know (how to make/or even what it really is) ANYTHING about clotted cream so we used the squirt can whipped cream.  Delicious!

Do you see our weird little bowls of random things?  The girls (I mean the guests) ate it all.  WE ate our scones and their scones.
Great Granny helped a lot.  She's a natural table setting expert and food producer, too.  The Peter Rabbit tea cups and plates survived the tea.  Yay!
I have had such a good visit with my mama.  We talked and talked and talked.  We both LOVE all that talking and connecting.  I'm SO thankful.  She flies away today and then we'll go to Millie Rose's third birthday party.  Whew!
December is TOMORROW!  Wow!  Pause in Advent will begin.  I can't wait.
Thank you so very much for popping in and saying hello, friend.

Your tea looked like such fun. The guests all behaved beautifully, I'm sure. Looks like a lot of conversation was happening, too.

Let me explain...from the county that invented clotted cream!
The rich milk was left at the back of the stove in the kitchen, and gradually the cream rose to the top, very thick. That was the clotted cream.
We eat it here with scones and jam, but when we were in France the nearest substitute was Mascarpone.

Clotted Cream is a wonderful British invention. The BEST cc is made by a lovely christian family in Cornwall

It tastes like nothing else you can imagine.
Cornish people often put CC and honey in sandwiches and call it "Thunder and Lightening"
Fabulous rich, thick and artery clogging. A proper english tea requires scones, jam and clotted cream.

But as you are so far away, I guess squirty cream will have to suffice!! as long as you use pretty china

Clotted cream is better than squirty cream, but squirty cream is better than no cream at all!!

I love your Peter Rabbit cups and plates.

I have your tea! Different types. I shall parcel it up soon, dear Pompom.

Your scones look authentic, I wish you could have clotted cream in the US, infact, if someone made it there, they would make their fortune!

I didn't know all that Roddas info that Ang shares- but we have often had little individual Roddas pots of cc with our scones in England! What w quintessential tea party. Too, too lovely! The brief glimpses of your mama show that you are kindred spirits! So looking forward to this year's Pauses xx

Oh, dear!! Pause in Advent! I'd totally forgotten. I must participate, if possible.

The tea party is delightful :) You know, I have a recipe from a dear tea-party friend for mock Devonshire cream, and I need to share it with you. It's very good. I'll try to remember.

So glad Miss Potter could have tea too :)

My Ma makes the best scones! In fact, I'm going to pop over to see her tomorrow just so I can have one - she makes fresh batches every Sunday just for us. We don't have clotted cream on our scones in Scotland - so we just slap on half a pound of butter, wait until it melts on the scone straight from the oven and chomp away to our heart's delight (I'm kidding about that much butter!). My homemade raspberry jam is particularly lovely on them too. Wonderful pics of those delightful children and a beautifully set table.x

It sounds as if you had an incredible time and I bet it flew by for you. I was wondering if your Mama left today.
I hope you had a wonderful birthday party. Your tea party looks so fun.

Love your sweet ones, family as well as scones!! Scones are a staple around my house. We don't have clotted cream, in fact, do I dare admit that I use Cool Whip?

Thanks to you we all know more about clotted cream! :) That's a good thing!
Hope I can figure out how to participate in the Pause in Advent. I purchased my candles yesterday because I wanted to begin that tradition in this new part of my life's journey.
I'll be looking for the link! :D
