Veterans Day. I chatted with a Korean war veteran at the grocery store the other day. He lives up the street from us and I've seen him out gardening when I have walked by. He doesn't know me, but when he gave me my poppy, he made a point to say how nice everyone has been to him. Someone brought him a cup of coffee as he sat out in front of the grocery store and another gave him some warm gloves. I won't be at school today (I have an all-day seminar) but I hope my students will think about Veterans Day and the sacrifice that was made to ensure their peace.
I love my country and I'm so thankful that I live here. Thank you, good soldier. May you feel appreciated and honored today.

Amen...they are doing a whole service at Benjamin's school today.
Thanks for the great post.
Sweet post Pom. My Dad served in the Korean War, the forgotten war. Freedom is never free, and I hope we can be thankful today that "someone" stood up and made it so for us.
bless them all.

Yes! I try to remind my children of how important this day is. Thankfully they attend schools that have special services to help them learn and remember.
Blessings!

Yes -- so thankful for my old soldier daddy, and for all those who have fought to protect us!
