Beginnings of Holiday Happiness

Yay!  Bill comes home today!  I'm busy arranging and cleaning, trying to make everything easy while he's recovering.  When he had his other hip replaced, over ten years ago, we had kids and dogs.  I think this recoup should prove easier.
I ordered this inexpensive little display because I am ready to do a few celebratory things around the house in anticipation of the holy season.  While I'm home for a few days I can pull out some of our decorations and "festive up" our house.  Have you ever resisted the early urge to do some premature holiday decorating and then found that when the season gets busy and you are madly bustling about, you don't feel QUITE as enthused as you felt in November?  This happens to me every year, so when the mood strikes I shall act upon it.  We really should celebrate Christmas every day, shouldn't we?
I adore wall stickers.  I have left my gingerbread house up for three or more years.  These stickies can go on the stairs as shown.  FUN!
I hope all my English friends had a fun Bonfire Night!  Here's my little bonfire.
November is definitely candle time, isn't it?
Have a wonderful November day, friends.  Feel loved.  Feel blessed.

Are you posting every day for November? you have so much to say, I look forward to your posts so this is a real treat! Bill home already! that's a chance for you both to have some quiet time together and just 'be' what a blessing. I think the USA has much more crafting and decorative things available, your decals are pretty, here we all cover our stairs in thick carpets so it wouldn't work but I would like to do it too.Iknow what you mean about feeling Christmassy in November! why not indeed! Yes Christmas every day, but I will resist. Hoping that Bill has a speedy recovery. He should k ow the routine and he has a good caregiver to help.

Oh I am so glad Bill is coming home! We are at that stage of no kids but... still have 3 dogs in the house. It is quieter though. He will get most rest this time around, no doubt. I will keep praying for him. My sister put up her Christmas tree last night. She was in the mood so went with it. It is nice to get it done BEFORE things get too crazy. I may do mine just before Thanksgiving, since it is late this year.
Have a Blessed day,
Danette

I was so happy to hear you were going to get out a few 'festive' things....I say it's never too early to start, so many things can be called simply 'wintry things'. I think that if we wait too long to begin celebrating the holidays, the time flies by and we feel like it was over in a flash. I stocked up on my favorite 3 wick candles from Bath & Body while they were on sale. We're sitting pretty for the cold wintry months ahead.
Happy to hear you get to be home with your hubby :)

Glad things went well for your husband's surgery. I am still contemplating my Fall decorations. You are smart to start now. Can't wait to see your final results.

I love those stickies. They make me want to rip all the carpet off the stairs immediately! Your Christmas every day is very Dickensian! You know the wonderful but in Christmas Carol where the Ghost of Christmas Present tells Scrooge we have to keep Christmas in our hearts and celebrate it every day? Do you have the whole set of the Christmas Stories? I think you should dip in and out of those when the bustle becomes too much. Or maybe nip over here for our Advent retreat at the start of December...

Glad to hear Bill is coming home...oh yes, Christmas decorations, I have been thinking of bringing up my little Christmas tree....love the lights. If the stores can do it, we can too and like you say, Thankgsgiving is later this month, it's not falling on my birthday like it usually does. YAY!!

Hello friends..so relieved that everything went so smoothly for Bill. He will be pleased to be home again, with you. It's amazing how quickly that they get "hip" patients moving isn't it! Might be a day or two before he's up to the 10,000 steps...that'll give you a chance to catch up ; )
I agree entirely about going with the Christmas inspiration flow, especially since you have time, just now.
Hope you have a happy week.
Much love GK x0x0x

Your little nativity set is lovely! I send Santons to 3 of my friends every year, so they can build up a nativity set... It makes present buying very easy plus the gifts are very lovely!! We won't have a tree this year (too many kitties!) but I look forward to putting up decorations on the second Sunday of Advent. I "fed" my Christmas cakes with their first alcohol last Sunday!

Benjamin and I are decorating when he gets home from school today...this encouraged me to get my zeal up and enjoy.
Yeah, on him coming home! May you enjoy this time together.

Thanks for the encouraging words this morning...they brought tears to my eyes, I guess I needed them...thanks!

Yes - so true! I'm often tempted to begin my decorating and inner celebration earlier in November, but I put it off, usually thinking, "I must being on the first Sunday of Advent." But by that time, Thanksgiving has worn me out, and December is upon us, and the programs and events are piling up, and I decorate (and celebrate) in too much of a hurry. Good for you, celebrating early!
