Hello! Thank you for all your nice words about Sunshine! She has her wicker basket now, a lock, and I have a nice little helmet to protect my brain. I've had what my UK friends call "the lurgy" the last few days. Chills, fever, and an overall draggy feeling. So I really HAVE been "benched" on the sofa. I watched all the films above. Truthfully, I slept through Mary Poppins. I fell asleep just after Mary arrived at Cherry Tree Lane. I'm better today, but still not all that cheery.
I managed some mindless knitting. Isn't the knit stitch beautiful? All those V's? Click. Click. Click.
Kim and I (My Field of Dreams) are going to play a little Anne of Green Gables game this summer. She and I will read a chapter, talk about it (via email) and then do a little activity (short and easy) like finding a Lake of Shining Waters. I read all the Anne books last summer, too. Don't you LOVE Anne?
Thank you to the volunteer sunflowers. In spite of my absence in the garden, they are doing their thing. Yay!
The iris are so ruffled and light and the peonies are JUST ABOUT ready to put on their show.
We look at bare branches all winter, so when the leaves are on the maples, it's such an encouragement.
The reason I like all those movies above is because they take place in small towns (well, not Mary Poppins) and sometimes I go to Flickr and gaze at pictures of my home state. I am really not a big city person, even though I adore the Colorado blue skies and would never move away because of our kids and the grands. Are you a small town person or a big city person?
Oh, my little "for fun" writing exercise for today was "write about something that came in a box". Sunshine's basket came in a box and now that basket will carry my camera and a few groceries. That's really all I had to say about that. I'm still fuzzy headed.
Thank you for popping in!

Be WELL, Pom! Mend up! Your knitting is lovely, your flowers are too. I'm a small, tiny town girl :) We are "stormed in" today for a bit, and cozy in my jammies, waiting for French toast. I hope you rest well.
Well keep resting and I hope you are better soon. I just can't believe how big and lovely your peony's are. Your knit stitch is wonderful.
I have had a hankering to watch Mary Poppins. That is funny. Did you ever read the weird books?
I need to try them again.
I am looking forward to our read, but get well. Not to mention my son took his camera to camp. I don't have my own. Can you imagine? :)
So he will be back on Saturday and I can have pictures again.
Get well my friend,
Your writing projects sound fun. Hope you are soon 100% better, I have been ill with a cold/sore throat bug for a week and today was the first day I felt like 'me' I went swimming and felt cheery. We have rain here, otherwise I would have gone to the seaside today - maybe next week. Happy travels on your 'Sunshine'
So sorry you aren't feeling well...get well!! Oh I had to laugh at the calendar girls..it is too funny and look at how those women took on the challenge of life.
Enjoy your summer...the flowers are great!
glad you're feeling better! just love the tight buds of the peony. :)
I have been a 'big city' person in my time but now I'm very happy to be part of 'the village people'!lol with family and friends (though not my very best friend who has moved even further away than she already was,to retire by the coast)close by.
I hope you get rid of the dreaded 'lurgy' asap and can get out and about on your lovely 'Sunshine', complete with her lovely basket soon. Good Weekend to you my friend. x
I love For the Love of Knitting! I checked it out of the library so many times that I finally bought my own copy.
I am a small city gal. Where I live, Durham, NC, is just that, and I find that it's the exact right size for me. Big enough to have its own minor league baseball team, small enough so that I can drive downtown in ten minutes. Big enough that it has a real downtown.
I do love Anne, and think your project sounds lovely.
Feel better soon, dearie!

I hope you get well soon so you can enjoy pedaling Miss Sunshine around. I hope you find a little time to sit in the sunshine and soak some in.
I'm a country person. Even the small town gets to me after a day.
Are you feeling better yet? I'm much better today- with regular paracetamol I have been up and at it all day. Hoping for the same minus the medication tomorrow!
feel better NOW, Karen; summer is buzzing by and you need to be present!
My husband loves the Grumpy movies! Hope you're feeling better soon!
I'm definitely a country person. When we absolutely have to go to Fargo or Minneapolis I just clench my teeth and bear it until we can get back to our beloved backwoods home!
Rest, and don't forget your chicken soup and tea! :)
Sorry you are under the weather with your free time just now starting. Maybe your body is just telling you to rest up!
Beautiful pictures of your flowers.
So sorry to hear you're not feeling up to par, Pom Pom.
Your irises and peonies are looking so pretty and healthy. Ours have come and gone for the season.
To answer your questions on my recent post, we have been having an unusual amount of rain this spring which has been keeping our temperatures a bit lower than normal. I know it won't be long until we will be in the 90s, so I'm enjoying things a bit cooler.
As for the sweet tea, the tea I showed on my post was the Snapple brand of peach tea for the Keurig. I don't drink southern sweet tea (too sweet for me), but the secret to making it is to make a simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar boiled until the sugar melts). Once this is cooled it is added to the iced tea.
I hope you are feeling better SOON.
Look after yourself PomPom...I think if you could get a copy of Danny Boyle's "Millions" you would really enjoy it. It is a delightful film.
I hope you are feeling better, but I also think it was good to start the summer off with a good rest. I am a suburban girl. :)
Miss Pom Pom I am simply in awe of your peonies !!!!!!!! You have no idea how much I ADORE them and I so wish that they would grow here where I am. Instead I buy them for a ridiculous price in late November early December and watch them unfold their delicate petals and begin blooming their little hearts out ! sigh........
I will be waiting for more pics of your peonies as they open. I do hope that you bring big bunches of them into your home to enjoy too.
Mary Poppins makes me go to sleep too ! lol
Get well soon petal xo
I love Anne as well, although I think apart from the original my favourite in the series is Rilla. I hope you are going to post pics of your activities and thoughts on the book this summer.
