Pink Around the House

(I reinforced the spine of my fat Bible and I LOVE washi tape stickers!)

Hello cozy-makers!  How are things going in your lovely homey homes?  As we "shelter" so many of us have the blessing of a shelter that is so "us" and so warm and snug.  Our homes are very much HOMES, aren't they?  When I look on Zillow at houses that are on the market (just for fun - we're NOT moving anywhere else) I feel like they all look the same after a while.  The decor is whatever the current decorating trend might be.  Every once in a while, you see a zippy one where the owner just couldn't tone her (or his) creativity down.  I like those.  I like the funky furniture and the romantic colors.

It's kind of hard to change our go-go and do-do mindset and just relax, isn't it?  I'm not going anywhere.  I will walk a little,  but ever since I was a classroom teacher I have a tendency to feel like I should be using my time more wisely.  I was blissfully unfamiliar with this when I was a stay at home mom.  I would like to find that spot again.
So I shall still look forward to lilac season because there are always generous lilacs lobbing themselves over the fences when I am out walking.

When I pinked things up this summer I did not know how happy it would make me now.  In Rumer Godden's book This Far and No Further she says that there should be pink in EVERY room.  I've mentioned this before, but I stand by it now.  Pink is a good thing.

Tim has colorful toys, doesn't he?  They all end up under sofas or in the basement.

This little bear says, "Don't forget to enjoy fika every day!  Coffee and a treat! Make treats!"
This lovely friend says, "Don't forget!  Ironing can soothe your soul. Get those wrinkles out and admire your work.  Press those seams (this applies to Pom Pom's sewing tasks) and hang things straight.  Good job!"
I made a mistake on my sewing yesterday and I decided that there are certain times of the day that are better for sewing than others.  Tired sewing often has wonky results.  So, today I shall fix the mistake and sew a little more. I want this sewing job off my plate so I can fiddle around with other "make-y" things.
Well, I hope you are feeling peaceful and free in your spirit because the Holy Spirit is your comforter and your counselor.  What a fine counselor He is!
I might bake a sponge (Lynn!  Thank you again for the sponge tips!) for fika.  I'll put some jam on it.  Yummy!
I'm thinking of you all.
This too shall pass.
LOVE!

Here's to a home spilling over with pretty colour everywhere, and a little pink; oh, and much, much blue. =) I am not as enamoured with ironing as you, sweet Pom Pom, but of course when one is stitching oodles of seams, then it is a most excellent thing. Though I do love starched and pressed pretty, vintage embroidered linens scattered throughout my humble home. Enjoy your day, lovely lady.

Yes definitely pink in every room, even if it is just a little bouquet of pink primroses.

your home always looks cosy and inviting - I like the idea of some pink - I have a pink orchid my friend gave me and my blogging buddy Anne gave me the most amazing mohair blanket (years ago and I treasure it) in pinks and mauves - it is so beautiful - I will wrap up in it tomorrow when I sit at my new work desk :)

I love the coziness of this post, Karen. We do what we need to do -- and you are doing it well indeed!

I had to laugh at Tim's toys. Ages ago I did the same with Lizzie's. I found every toy I could and photographed them with her in the picture. I have never thrown away a toy but I have no idea where the lions share of them are now!

I love to have a peek at the books on your nook shelves.
I am looking forward to Lilac season too but they are just beginning to leaf out now so it will be a while before I can enjoy their wonderful scent.
I agree.... Pink is a good thing!!

It's finally getting warm enough out that I can look forward to walking soon. With a little creative planning I could do it NOW. I want to!
I think we are very blessed to be folks who LOVE being home and don't find it too confining. I always love to see what you're up to! You are so encouraging! Blessings and hugs! (Oh, and there's another book to add to my list..Rumer Godden.) :)

I love your happy home. I don't have much pink around , I may have to change that. Pink is one of my favorite colors to wear. I am wearing pink today. :)

Hi, Pom. I'm late as usual! I found myself reading all the spines of your books there on the shelves. So much nice Goudge. I think that Year of cooking in a Welsh Farmhouse looks very tempting to me!

I struggle with being at ease at home, lounging and doing little. My mother was a master at this, and made life look and FEEL so relaxed. But like you said after being a teacher, I have this drive to be productive.

My best time to do things well is in the morning, I'd say between 8 and noon. Maybe 9. After lunch, I need a nap, and after the nap I'm snoozy the rest of the day :) Lots of mistakes made then!
