I am click, click, clicking away on my alpaca vest. The yarn is so soft and the color quite varied. I have to make tally marks on a notecard so I know that every seventh row needs the cable needle. I look forward to the cable row. I need one more skein of yarn. Do you think I'll be able to find it here in Denver? My daughter purchased it in Napa, California and I don't like the "clunkiness" of ordering over the phone. So spoiled. I may just have to brave the city streets and lack of parking and zip to The Lamb Shoppe downtown.
I am revisiting my last three decades of stand out books, rereading them and remembering why they made their mark on my heart and soul. This book by Alan Loy Mcginnis is a keeper. His writing style is easy, short sentences and a lot of straight shooting (smile). He died in 2005, but this little masterpiece sold over a million copies and is selling today.
I've been making a list as I read it again.
Don't we all desire to care for people more effectively, learning how to love deeper?

The book sounds really good, and your notes are worthy of my notice and thinking about. I need to work harder on my friendships and relationship. I often assume that those people I love "just know" that I love them. I need to express it in more ways. Thank you for the reminder, Karen. XOXO

Your sweater is going to be just lovely. It looks so soft and squishable. Could you order more online. Less painful than over the telephone and what it costs in postage and packing, saves you on petrol (gas) to get there in your new fancy-pants charabang! I like the look of your list. I've not knitted with Alpaca yarn but heard it stretches. Do you find that? I've felt the yarn and it is soooo soft. I love it

Ugh. Downtown Denver. I got so frustrated by its one way streets one time. Good luck finding your yarn. You could order it online....
I can just tell from your photo how soft it is. My LYS carries cascade, I will have to track it down. Does the alpaca shed?
Your vest looks wonderful and I love the color. Loopy Ewe up inFort Collins might have that color and they will mail. You could them and they would let you know immediately if they have the color and lot for you. I was there last week and I know they had a lot of cascade alpaca in stock. Good luck.

Oh yes, that yarn does look deliciously soft. You're making really great progress. I read your last Yarn Along post and it really made me smile regarding winding the skeins. I always end up in such a tangle too even though I remind myself to relax and breathe positive energy into what should be an easy task! Your book sounds really thought provoking. I don't think I realized you lived in Denver. My husband was born and raised in Loveland. We were on vacation in Denver a couple of years ago and I went to the Lamb Shoppe! I loved it! We really like that whole neighborhood, actually. We've stayed in an AirBnB house on 13th Ave a few times, just a couple of blocks from the Lamb Shoppe. Have you ever eaten in the restaurant near there, called Shells and Sauce? We thought it was so good. Gosh, I just love that neighborhood! :)

I'll have to ponder which books have been most important to me. Wendell Berry's collection of essays WHAT ARE PEOPLE FOR is without a doubt a book that has a huge impact on my thinking, and I've read it many times since the first time I read it in 1990.

The vest is beautiful! I crochet a lot and can knit just a little. My mom used to knit and she used the cables. Always fascinated me! I added your book to my to read list. My favorite book for inspiration is Simple Abundance by Sarah ban Breathnach. I've done this year long journey a number of times. The book taught me so much and helped me so much but the greatest thing it has taught me so far is gratitude.
