What Katy Did

 Here's Cutie Patootie again!
While I was out running the sprinklers this morning I spied a green visitor.  Katy!  Isn't she fascinating?  She has the skinniest long legs and she gracefully lifts them, walking ever so slowly.
 She's looking at you!
 Isn't she a gorgeous creature?
 She's a walking leaf!

I don't think I'm going to make a  complicated shawl anytime soon.  It's TOO hard and too frustrating when I come upon such confusing instructions.  Maybe later.  I'm using my cushy alpaca to make a vest instead.  I can pull this on over a linen blouse when I start to shiver this fall.  One cable up the center.  EASY.

I'm at a standstill with the striped sweater because it's almost time to shape the neck.  I don't know why I get the heebie jeebies when I have to "think" about my knitting.  It's a goal of mine to overcome my fears and knit on with confidence!  That's an EZ mantra!
Here's a "shelfie" because I knew you'd like looking at the little dishes. Oh!  I see Jemima Puddleduck!
I'm still reveling in thankfulness for our new kitchen.  I love my wacky knobs/pulls and I LOVE green.

Yesterday we filled up the small paddling pool simply to have access to water with out running the hose constantly.  Kids can find all kinds of things to do with water.  Sam made a lot of mud in the toy bucket and I cleaned my boots.  I entertained dreams of walking in the rain this fall, dressed in my yellow raincoat, rain boots, and carrying my smiley face umbrella.  My sister and I liked to take rainy walks on Sundays when we were little girls.  It really doesn't rain much here, so I'll keep wearing my boots in my own garden mud.
Mums are cheerful, aren't they?  I have one little mum.  Just right.
Now, on to first world problems.  I don't like spending a lot of money on haircuts, but I'm really picky about haircuts.  I've resorted to this weird scrunchy bun when I am at home.
I know.  It just won't do.  Another first world problem:  hair stylists don't work on Mondays, so by the time I make an appointment I might have a good hair day and change my mind.  I spend far too much time thinking about my hair.

I got my 10,000 steps yesterday because I took James to the closest park and then later Sam and Plum Cake wanted to go to the park (the one that is down a grassy hill and requires chubby Granny to huff and puff while pushing the stroller and carrying the scooter!).  I find that one day I'll accumulate lots of steps and then the next day, not so many.
Today I am getting ready for Bill to come home.  He's been gone two weeks!  Ack!  I've missed him SO MUCH! I shall go to the grocery and buy food.  It's pretty "Old Mother Hubbard" around here.

This Is Just To Say

William Carlos Williams1883 - 1963

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
And on a final note, Sven the horse (Kelli's petty pet) is at horse boarding school.  Yes, there is such a thing!  He's learning important horse stuff.  Ha!
It's time to shower, make my problem hair presentable, and buzz to the grocery.  Then, I might sweep and mop.
Thank you for stopping by again today.  I love it when you do!
Update:  I hate to tell you this but while I was talking on the phone I saw a magpie swoop in and eat Katy.  YIKES!

Hi dear Pom Pom, I'm glad for you that Bill is returning home and you will have some yummy food ready for him. I bet he has missed you a LOT too. your little grandson is some cute, just like his bib says.

Being in a kitchen that you like makes it so much more pleasant don't you think. I love green too.
Like you, I don't spend much money on my hair since I cut them myself and have been doing it for years.

Hope you have a great week.
Blessings to you on this Sunday.
Hugs,
JB

What a fun post. Full of so many great things. I laugh about your first world problems because I spend too much time thinking about my appearance. I just have got in the bad habit of just hacking it back myself. Sort of like what you do with a weed eater and weeds.
I didn't know Sven needed a bit of training. That is interesting. I showed horses as a kid and that is why my horses would go to a trainer, it that what Kelli is doing?
So glad Bill is coming home today. You will be so happy.
Just love looking at your kids and on that wall, I love that picture. Is that yours? I would love to turn some of your designs into rugs. :)
Have a very happy day.

I don't like having to count in my knitting either. I have to make charts so I don't make mistakes (and then I make them anyway).

I have the same boots as you!

I need a haircut, but I always wait too late to schedule an appointment. When I finally do, my hair looks great. I don't know why.

I've seen a few katydids up at HT. I like them too.
I'm sure by now you know I like walking in the rain too and have a yellow rain slicker, but don't wear it in the summer - I like how the rain cools me off. : )
The kitchen knobs are cute!!
Oh don't get me started on my hair!! : ) I think a lot of us spend a lot of time thinking about our hair!!

what a shame Katie is no more! we get some little green leaf hoppers here all over the place, the come in the house, they aren't as pretty as Katie, they are more square and are smooth, I like them, I think they eat aphids. You're right, there's plenty to do with water when you're a kid - ours used to like taking all the kitchen utensils out to the paddling pool and playing with them - surprisingly fun even to observe as they discover things that have holes and how the water runs through them etc., simple pleasures are the best. So in the end, Katy was done to. I guess her leafiness didn't fool that bird. So glad you saw her first.

I hope when Bill comes home you are having a good hair moment!

Oh wow...2 weeks is really a long time. Glad the reunion is happening soon. Love the look of what I can see of your kitchen. Nice cabinets and great counters! Good for you for getting in all those steps! That little Patootie is a cutie! Have fun figuring out the hair dilemma! Knitting is way out of my network!
