A Little Bit of Knitting and Two Reads

It's already Ginny's Yarn Along day again!  I showed you my alpaca knitting in my last post so today you see a functional piece of click, click, click . . . a dishcloth.
I host my book club ladies here today.  I had to stay up late to finish the book we read together.  Have you read this?  Whoa.  It's a finely articulated story, captivating and original.  My favorite character is Werner.  I'm still spinning the story in my mind and I look forward to hearing what my friend-readers have to say about it today.  I'm serving Chex Mix, cupcakes, and ice cream cones because my birthday is later this month.
I've been revisiting some of the life changing books I've read over the last three+ decades.  Have you read this book?  I read it when I was about 20 years old.  Anne Ortlund, what a servant of Jesus she was.  She died a short time ago, just shy of her 90th birthday.  I'm so glad she took the time to pen this classic.
I've been buying myself birthday presents.  Bill doesn't mind.  He's sweet like that.  New pens that are VERY juicy and perfect for artsy doodling (see below), some Alison Uttley books (Little Grey Rabbit), some walking shoes that have a good amount of cushiness, and of course The Journaling Bible.
I hope you have begun reading Ginny's blog, Small Things.  It's one of those beautiful blogs and the knitting is inspirational.  If you click over to Yarn Along, you can meet some knitters.  THAT'S always a bonus.
I hope the birds are singing at your house.  You deserve a song or two.

It is my birthday month too and I always buy myself a present or two, this year it was yarn.
I do like your pens, I am finding myself adding to my collection since beginning bible journaling.
All the Light We Cannot See is one of my favorite books, I loved it!
And dishcloths, there is always one in my purse to be worked on when I am out.
Have fun at book club.

I read Anne Ortlunds book when I was in my 20's as well. Wonderful life lessons in that. Have a good time with your book club today!

I love knitting dishcloths. Fun, fast, practical, easy to take on road trips! I love your yarn choice. I have never read All the Light We Cannot See, but I have heard so much good about it. Will have to find it at my library. Happy Birthday Month! :)

I think it is sweet you are buying yourself cute little presents. I have that book and I loved Anne Ortlund so much. I loved her husband too and I used to listen to them when I first became a believer. I loved her sweet voice and her lovely laugh. I still read her books off and on.
I am so glad you have your book club today. It sounds lovely. I think your knitting is wonderful.
Your roses are very pretty too.
Have a lovely day.

Glad you are getting a few Aussies for yourself. I pre-ordered a journaling Bible on Amazon, but it won't ship until October.

That is a fun blog with the knitters' links.

I read Ann's book way back then, as part of a group study. I quickly forgot most of it except for two things, 1)It was the first I had heard about knowing your "colors," how to dress so that your clothes did not clash with your skin tones, and 2)her advice to dump the contents of your purse on to your bed every night to get re-organized for the next day.

I'm sure there were things in the book that were applicable to my life at that time, but the purse idea was an example of something that didn't fit my lifestyle, because I was able to stay home a lot and not worry about getting organized for outings. I was always looking for disciplines that fit me and my life, and I still am!!

Thank you, Pom Pom xoxo

I did read Anne's book years ago. I've seen the book you were reading for your book club at Costco. I always buy myself birthday presents and my Dear doesn't mind at all either. In fact it's a load off for him! Have a wonderful evening...

Oh, knitting. I miss knitting. I haven't knitted or crocheted in weeks. :( Very sad for me. I wonder when life will be normal again? Soon, I hope. I miss quiet days of tea and quiet evenings of knitting with hubby. Your dishcloth looks lovely.

You should treat yourself once in awhile, birthday or not. So this is then end of week 2 back in the classroom. The kids are great, it is nice not to have to put up with the department politics, but I do get tired at the end of the day. It is only 15 weeks, and I am enjoying myself.
