Pottery Fun

My neighbor (and good friend) Reve has been telling me about the Polish Pottery Outlet for a while now.  I had no idea how close it is to our house (dangerous) and how GORGEOUS so much, all in one place, could be!

We both love dishes and have too many.  Many women in my family love dishes, too.  I have three beautiful cousins that I know collect Polish Pottery and I wish they lived closer so I could shop with them.  I really don't know much about it or appreciate it quite enough yet.  Truthfully, seeing all this loveliness in one spot was like a drink from a fire hose!  I am so glad it's close so I can think about it and go back when I have some extra pocket money.
I bought the cross because of Rumer Godden.  I have finished my second Rumer Godden novel (also about nuns) and I'm so taken with her style.  The story and the characters are lasting, they make a big impression.  I mean for the cross I bought to be a marker of this time in my life when I have been reading her work.
My art buddy Lisa sent me a parcel.  Her blog is Pen, Ink, and Maybe Some Paint (see blog roll).  I love her work.  She made me a foldable art journal with lovely Lisa drawings and then sent me two empty ones.  FUN!

Here's my next Rumer read!  Yay!

Here are two wonderful pieces of GRANDchild art.  I know!  BEAUTIFUL!
Miss Bug made the one above.  I think the "I love you, Mom" is so precious.  She knows her mama (our Kelli) is very very good.  Aw.
We have a big week with our grands.  We'll see them all.  James and his mama are coming for lunch tomorrow.  CB and Finn are coming on Thursday for Granny Camp!  We are anticipating the fun.  They'll be here on the 4th of July.  Double fun!
I've been washing all the dishes I have on shelves around the house.  I've been writing more letters.  I've been using essential oils to scent our rooms and massage our aches and pains.  The sun is shining very bright today and my hollyhocks are about to bloom.  Every good thing DOES come down from God indeed.

the pottery place looks like one where you could buy all sorts of things you'll never use and have no room to display. :)

soak up that family time!

Your post today is FULL of wonderful things! That Polish Pottery is certainly some amazing eye candy; I once visited a shop that carried only that and you are so right. It is like a drink from a firehose. But soooooo gorgeous. So glad you are still enjoying Rumer Godden. There is a lot of enjoyable reading in ahead for you!

I don't know a thing about Polish pottery, so will look into it.

Also, you have spurred me on to find a Godden book for Kindle.

You are a treasure, PomPom. Thanks for your tips.

PS...you scored at the pottery outlet.

Wow, so much lovely china!!! I am surprised that you could find a place to look first. How anyone could make a decision would be beyond me, my eyes would be flitting from one place to the next all the time. Glad that you are having some good times. xx

OH MY GOSH! HOW WOULD YOU EVER CHOOSE?!? That was my first reaction to the gorgeous pottery, but, like you put it so well, it's sort of like taking a drink from a fire hose! :)
They remind me of a Patricia Polacco book!
Glad you liked the gifties!
"In This House of Brede" is wending its way to my house as I speak. I look forward to it, and the bio looks great. I love to snoop into other people's lives.
Sounds like you're having tons of fun with those grands. Keep it up! XXOO

That pottery is so lovely. I'd have no trouble at all choosing a few pieces! I haven't read any Rumer Godden either but just now went on line to request one of her books. Thanks for the tip.

Oh my goodness! If I lived near that pottery place I would be broke for sure! They are gorgeous! Blue and white are my favorite colors so, you know, I would have a hard time deciding what NOT to buy!

Have fun at your Granny Camp! We have Gramma Camp in August! It's always fun times but exhausting!

Our local tea shop carries some Polish pottery, but not nearly as much as you pictured. The colors are stunning. I will have to look up the author you mentioned. Have fun with your grands!

Oh, Pom! What dishes! If I lived nearby, I'd be SUNK. So many gorgeous patterns. Sigh. I love dishes too -- no wonder we're so alike :) I like the grand picture -- it looks like the tree and the toadstool are holding hands. Isn't that sweet? You're a dear. If I ever do visit out there to your place, may we please go to the Polish Pottery?
