Good Sight, Good Scent

I bought myself a little present. In the preface of The Complete Brambly Hedge, Jill Barklem discusses her vision for sharing the world of the mice with her readers.  She sounds like an enchanting individual.  I am delighted with this book full of industrious homemaking scenes.  I'll share more soon.
And this is just to say that rosemary and lavender growing in the garden is a whiff of heaven.
My wish for you today:  See things that are gentle and cozy so your heart will be soothed. Smell good natural scents so your mind will be light and know love.

Am making lavender shortbread today to send with cake for my daughter,s birthday. Alas, it is culinary lavender but the taste is delicious.

I needed this. Tough, weary morning. Time to light a candle.

The little book is charming. The illustrations are classic. I ought to cut some rosemary to. Ring in. The lavender struggles.

Is there a story untold hiding behind the silver chalice beneath the lavender just out of sight? I'm sure there must be! Through the blue door, whispering past the chalice and breathing stories in the kitchen x

Mmmmmm....coffee looks good in the first picture. Isn't it always fun to buy something for ourselves??? I love the smell of lavender and herbs...taking minute vacations smelling the small things of life, basil, oregano, thyme oh yum.

I put my rosemary in a pot to bring indoors this winter...it lasts for 2 years, max, outside in our cold winters.
Cute book, Karen, wish I could send you the mice in my wall; it's driving Sophie Jack Russell KrAZy.

sweet post Pom Pom. the book looks like one that could be cuddled up with and enjoyed or maybe i'm just thinking that because we had a very rainy early morning and cuddling up with a good book sounded like a good idea . . .
i opted to go out and photograph rainy spider webs instead.

while outside i enjoyed the fragrance of the Russian sage and the basil. at times the rain was strong enough to bruise these plants and the mix of fresh was intoxicating~!

i can't seem to grow lavender in my garden and have yet to try again with rosemary but you have given me a new one to add to my herb garden list for next year.

i hope that your week is going well.
:-)

I love Brambley Hedge illustrations. There has been much publicity in the UK by the way as today The FURTHER ADVENTURES of The Owl and the Pussycat is published by J Donaldson, I love the original book so much that I am very excited to see this invention - what a great idea, to continue a story and bring something new for another generation from a classic! It's not in my library yet but I'm ready! I am so obsessed with lavender lately - glad to see you have some too. Blessings, Betty x

Enjoy the rest of summer PomPom. Our Lavender has just started to flower, little signs that winter is almost over.

Have a good week.

I'm so glad you're being kind to you! You so deserve it. I've not heard of that cute book yet, I need to look it up.

Sadly, my youngest son "accidently" cut down my lavender plant so I no longer get to brush up against it and enjoy its lovely scent while hanging out my laundry. Maybe one day I'll plant another. I miss it so!

I just adore the Brambly Hedge books. I read them to my kiddos years ago. I might need to buy that book just for me...and, of course, Audrey and Hazel! :)

Thanks for these beautiful, cozy and soothing images!

Love the illustration style; I know I'd love to ramble through this book just for the visual delights!

Yesterday I took time to breath in the delicate fragrant sweetness of plumeria blossoms. It was heavenly. I think I'll do that again today. It's a blessing to have some in my very own garden. Thank you for reminding me to take the time to stop and enjoy them.

Blessings to you for the rest of the school week and for the freedom of the weekend too.

Lavender and rosemary are smells of the south of France for me...I adore them both! I can never resist picking a sprig of lavender whenever I brush past a bush of it, wherever I am! I crush it on my fingers and then catch a whiff of that beautiful scent from time to time. Wonderful!
Blessings on you, dear PomPom
