Bright Beauty

Yay!  It's the weekend!  My school bag is parked in the entry way of our house and I am sitting, dressed in my pajamas, listening to the birds tweeting.  Ahhh!  Bliss!
Speaking of birds, look what my sweet mama sent me, along with a fancy new bird feeder that holds days and days of black sunflower seeds!
Oh, the seasons of tomatoes and apples.  Isn't God brilliant?  Look at those reds!  Red must be the happiest color of all, don't you think?  Well, and then there's yellow.  And green.  And orange.
Our Tasha Tudor's (giver of inspiration and imagination) birthday is this week!  Yay for corgi dogs and sweet scenes of home!
I am in awe of Mama Pumpkin!  I DO like growing little pumpkins VERY much!  It's thrilling!

The sunbeams are on the sunflowers.  August's corsage must be the sunflower.
My nasturtium leaves are gorgeous this year.  They have been a bit shaded and enjoying more water, thanks to the spray system.  Fairy rugs!
The birds are tweeting thanks as they swoop in to dine at all the feeders.

Our Australian houseguest told me that he is a bit envious of my basil.  He proclaims it plump and delicious!  I spread pesto (yes, I really made some!) on french bread, placed a few basil leaves on top of a tomato and covered that with cheese and guess what? Yes.  DELICIOUS!
I'll dry some parsley, but I treat it like a flower and put bunches of it in mugs.  It looks so green, so pretty.
Plum Cake left her shoes here last weekend.  I really should have taken them off the line because the sun faded the blue parts, but I liked looking at them hanging there, reminding me of all things Plum Cake!  She took a step, by the way!  Yay!
Even though I sort of dreaded the end of August because it meant I'd be back at school full-force and NOT at home, the garden is lovely and ALL the flowers are bursting with joy.  The students at school are adorable, sweet and shiny.  I must spend some good time this weekend, pouring over their photos and memorizing all 120 names.  Yikes!  It isn't easy.  I have  a lot of thinking and planning to do and I already have some grading to do.  I'll get used to it.
I hope your last week of August perks along nicely.  Summer IS still in the air and it is meant to be loved.

Morning! Enjoy this lovely weekend. These last days of August are bittersweet. We have a huge fire south of us (no danger to me) so the skies are filled with smoke and the days are still hot. Most of us are wishing for Fall. Not me tho, I will take every day no matter what. :) Kit

Little Plum Cake's shoes made me smile. Already taking steps? How time goes so quickly.

The nasturtium leaves DO look like fairy pads.

Those dear little shoes! I would want to keep them and admire them for a while too. Your garden is so bright and cheery and full of Summer. We have a lot of heavy rain in the UK and it does feel very Autumnal to me, but yesterday we had a day at the seaside and it was hot, so there is still some Summer left to enjoy. I do hope you will remember all those names, what a challenge!

Funny you should mention red, green yellow fruits and vegies....a man asked me yesterday at the store. I had some yellow banannas and he pointed out....If oranges are orange why are banannas called yellow as with all fruits? I said now that is something to ponder...he said he has been pondering it for 2 years (:)

Your pictures look great, just don't know where this summer went to....went by way to fast!!!

Never thought to bring parsley in as a flower....must grow some next year!!

Do you get black swallowtail caterpillars on your parsley or is your elevation too high? They love it when I plant parsley...which is really the only reason I ever have planted it.

Lovely days. I hope you soak up this weekend like a sponge. Many blessings on your new school year!

I thought about you all week. I would play the I wonder what Pom Pom is doing now game. I would think of you sitting in your comfy chair and reading to your kids or showing them how to draw. Lots of things I don't know if you got to do but I would think about it.
All of your flowers are lovely. I love seeing the baby shoes on the line. I am glad you got to enjoy your Saturday morning.
I miss our chats very much. My boys go to school next week. I will be home alone lots. I have made plans to be in a happy place.
I will email you soon. Quite a long letter I think.
Enjoy your day.

I love seeing your plants, I didn't get to garden this year and this just makes me smile.
The shoes are just toooooooooooo precious.
Blessings on a new school year, may God met your every need as you pour out to these children.

So envious of your garden and all its bounty! I decided not to plant one this year and I have regretted it... ah, well, there's always next year, right? Enjoy your weekend!

I have never made basil pesto until tonight! I slathered it on a good piece of toast. Yum! I'm freezing some of it in ice cube trays so I can pop one out anytime I want to. Your tomato/moz/pesto sounded really delish! I've got some fresh ripe tomatoes ready to pick tomorrow!

You amaze me how you can remember 120 students' names. You are such a good teacher! God bless you and God bless your year with the kids.

Love Plum Cake's baby shoes and all the beautiful gardeny stuff.

Thanks for sharing your sunshiny morning! I didn't remember to bring my camera with me to Fargo and I can't seem to figure out how to get my computer to work (get online) here, but I'm enjoying other people's blogs..especially yours! Bob is gaining strength and working at getting better. Another week and a half of treatments. The kids are circling the wagons and helping so much! Have a great rest of the summer. Savor every drop! (You're good at that!)

I missed growing basil this year and miss it dreadfully! I still have pesto in the freezer but it's just not the same as fresh, is it?

I have not made pesto this year yet. It will be the first year in 'I don't know how long" that I haven't. Summer FLEW by. Love your beautiful nasturtiums!

What a beautiful, happy post! It was so fun to read on this early Monday morning. I'm sorry I didn't get by your blog in time to wish you a happy weekend but I'm here now to wish you a happy, happy new week!

You have 120 students? What a load. But you love them all. The garden looks great. Sad that it is about to wind down.I will not miss that worn out, exhausted feeling at the end of day zapped of all of my energy, but I will miss the kiddos. School at the U starts today. And I am not even dressed yet! Yay.

Such a joyful post PomPom. Your sunflowers look delightful as does the rest of your garden. I hope your 120 students (yikes!) are all lovely!
