Sniffing the Sea Air

We're here!  We're here!  The lovely Bar Harbor, Maine exceeds my expectations!  I feel so blessed to gaze at the sea for four days.

I love all the storybook houses.

If you've read Gladys Taber's Still Cove Journal, you know about The Lobster Claw restaurant on Cape Cod.  Well, there is a Lobster Claw here, too!  The clam chowder tastes PERFECT and the lobster roll is as tasty as I hoped it would be.

The view out of our inn is THIS!  There's a shore path that loops around and the crunch, crunch of feet on this little byway is singing a song to me right now.  I am taking deep sniffs of the sea and Bill's a good sport about the chill in the room.  We MUST have the door open.
Oh how I love the sea.  Bill says that there is something in me that feels the sea is home.  Having never been to the Atlantic Ocean, I feel a sense of connectedness as this reminds me of my childhood Guemes Island and our early married years at Young Life camp far north in British Columbia.  I wish you could hear the seagulls and the hum of small boats.  Come to dinner with us. We'll be in the Reading Room Restaurant, where long ago literary buffs with famous names gathered.  I'm glad it's open to the likes of us now!  Smile.
Time for a nap.  Tomorrow, we'll take a boat twenty miles out to sea for a bit of whale watching.  Before that, I will draw a picture in my sketch book.  Thank you very much for checking in with me.

Oh my, that all looks utterly glorious! Thank you for taking us along...I'd LOVE to join you for dinner. I completely understand your passion for the sea...it's a sort of wild thing that takes hold of one's soul isn't it. And makes the heart thrill with thankfulness to God for creating such a wonderful thing as the sea. I feel blessed to live close enough to visit the sea anytime...though ours I think is a bit tamer than the Atlantic, most of the time.

What a picture perfect place. I can smell the salt air and the little shops and houses are so pretty. I've always wanted to visit a New England fishing village. (Or live there!)

Hope you find much rest and many lovely views to fill your spirit! Yes, please do share your sketches! :)

All I can say is: "Sigh." I hope this time by the sea enriches your soul and revitalizes you for all the work you do. It feels the starving imagination, doesn't it? I know what you mean about loving the sea, longing for it, smelling it from afar, and only feeling thoroughly at peace when you're there. So many places are very beautiful, but the sea is different.

Hi, I got to your from "A Different Drum." I just loved what you are doing with the tour of the "Wind and the Willows." I was wondering if you are still doing it and if we could be a place for them to visit.
Let me know.... thanks : )

Oh the food, the food!! I so want a bite! And the wonderful houses. And the OCEAN! I've only seen it twice (the Pacific) and I loved it. Bless Bill for allowing the windows to stay open at night.

what a wonderful trip! You really had a great time! The ocean is beautiful and breathtaking! I also love those storybook houses! Last week, I also visited a very gorgeous storybook home, namely, The Witch's House in Beverly Hills. Its owner is a real estate agent named Michael Libow. You can't miss this fantastic place!
