Night Light

Today I am naming November the Month of Night Light. The clocks fixed for daylight savings, evening comes early. Charming lamp posts adorn front yards.

The sweet moon shines on naked trees.

Clouds mixed with light grace the nighttime sky.

Wood waits for winter.

Can November have named weeks? Week 1: Evening Invitation
Week 2: Veteran's Tribute Week 3: Harvest Glory Week 4: Saying Grace
So, for Evening Invitation: Take a thoughtful, observant walk out the front door and into the neighborhood. Collect stuff and make a nature table.
For Veteran's Tribute: Thank a veteran and learn all the words to a patriotic song.
For Harvest Glory: Eat a new fruit or try a new squash.
For Saying Grace: Write a prayer of thanks and share it with the generous God of creation, and only Him.
Make some mittens. Share hot chocolate with a new friend. Hand sew a red, felt heart and pin it on your nightie. Give some sagging shoulders a loving massage. Write a real letter. Pop a HUGE bowl of popcorn and watch a beautiful movie like One True Thing. Share your feelings. Risk. Live out loud.
I'm happy. Samantha Rose is coming soon! Her mommy will have her on Nov. 23. In May, another baby arrives, and in July our seventh! We shall have seven grandchildren all born in the last three years. A gaggle of grands - a classroom full of wobbly eighth graders - a world full of heart beats. I am glad I'm a human.

What a wonderful, wonderful, cheerful, inspiring, happy, thoughtful, caring, loving, generous, grateful, giving post this is today Pom Pom. You have inspired me more than you will ever know. I love all your ideas for celebrating November, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. I want to write a proper letter, I love the idea or writing a prayer, knitting red mittens and drinking hot chocolate!

Oh woweeeeeeeeeee!

Thanks Pom Pom

November has lots of events to be thankful for and I'm so glad you've organized each weeks activities in such a thoughtful and productive way! It's been all jumbled in my head, and now I'm all smoothed out and ready to take on each week and day. At SuKnitWitty, I'm taking care of the MittenKnittin and at CollectInTexas Gal, the TurkeyTalk is covering the rest including Veterans, Harvest and Blessings. Yep, I'm ready for November...now if you could just SLOW it down a notch! I'm not ready for December and Christmas!

Great post. I love your list of things to do to celebrate life in November, and I love the movie One True Thing. Aside from the heartwrenching story, isn't the house in that movie wonderful?

Good morning! I found your lovely comment on my blog, and I want to thank you for your thoughts. I completely concur. It's so hard to know what surrender looks like when too many of us Christians struggle with relinquishing ourselves.

I love your suggestions! November is one of my favorite months of the year. And, you are blessed, blessed, blessed by the Lord with three new grandbabies coming! Thrilling!

Have a beautiful weekend, my dear friend!

Oooo, babies, babies and more babies -- love!
And love your pretty November evening photos. I never can get good photos at night?
Speaking of 8th graders, I have an interview next week re: Sp. Ed. position teaching 8th graders English/L.A. What to do, what to do? More money than my present part time home bound teaching job, but as you well know, more stress, more time, more exhausting! Guess we'll see which way the cat jumps?
Blessings,
G

Hi Pom Pom! I have finished your print and have been trying to email you a photo of it, but for some silly reason our internet is not uploading the photo properly at the moment so I can't send it. I shall continue trying though! I am going to try and get onto etsy tonight. I will let you know as soon as your print is in the shop.

Hope everything is good with you x x

I love the evening lights this time of year, too, and I love the light at Twilight.

I was thinking about One True Thing just the other day--this is a good time of year to watch.
