Near

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 145:8
The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.

Ephesians 2:13
But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Philippians 4:5
Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men
THE LORD IS NEAR

Words & Music: Cleland B. McAfee, 1903 (MIDI, score). He wrote these words after two of his nieces died from diphtheria. The Park College choir sang the new hymn outside the quarantined house.
Near to the Heart of God

There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God.
A place where sin cannot molest,
Near to the heart of God.

Refrain

O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before Thee
Near to the heart of God.

There is a place of comfort sweet,
Near to the heart of God.
A place where we our Savior meet,
Near to the heart of God.

Refrain

There is a place of full release,
Near to the heart of God.
A place where all is joy and peace,
Near to the heart of God.

Refrain

I woke up with this song inside. Last night we had our family girls bible study and we spoke about how we long to draw near to Jesus, snuggling up so close to Him.

God, Please pull me close and cradle me

I wish to dwell right beside that majestic heart of yours
Open my ears so I can hear the music
Just as passersby heard the choir singing outside the house where two little girls left this earth to join you, let me hear the otherworldly sound that plays in my "ordinary" days.
Today, I want to hear the music that draws me to YOU.

Can you hear it?

What a beautiful post Pom Pom. Lately i'm constantly listening to worship music. I'm 'teaching myself' to rejoice in the Lord, to accept what it might come my way with (the most) joyful heart (my weak self allow me ) because it comes from Him. Don't you love, for example, Habakkuk 3
''yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior''

Have a blessed weekend !

I hear the music today. I hear it in the rain that whispers in the woods this morning. I hear it in the words I read here. Thank you so much for sharing these passages. I am so happy that you are going to introduce your students to art journaling. If I can help in any way, please let me know. I've done this with 9th, 11th, and 11th graders. This past week we focused on the American Romantic Period and sensory imagery, and, on Thursday, had a particularly effective lesson complete with candlelight and music by Evanescense. I know you and your students will have so much fun with their journal, and I really look forward to seeing some of your students' work. BTW Walmart has very affordable spiral bound sketchbooks. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Alberta
