Bear Portraits

Oh hello! I'm so glad to see you. Will you come nestle by the fire?
I'll get you a little bite and pour you a cup of tea.

I thought that I would scour around the house today and hunt for bears.

This is Brad's first teddy bear. I found it at a favorite gift shop in Chehalis, Washington. We had very little spending money, but I thought this sweetie should belong to my baby. Oh, how he's been loved, barfed on, buried at the bottom of many toy piles . . . I love him, too.

This bear LOOKS like Jenny! Notice his crooked nose! (Jenny has a Barbie doll nose, NOT a crooked nose btw)

"Jim Bear" named after beloved grandpa. Jeff's favorite hug.

Another bear belonging to Jeff. BEAR radiates happy, doesn't he?

Even though I created a monkey collection for Jeff (he really never even LIKED monkeys - I accept that now) I'm noticing he had a lot of bears!

My mom stuffed this pretty, feminine bear for Kelli when she was a little pink baby. I really wish you could hear Kelli sing "Teddy Bears Picnic" because she sings it so beautifully. I love her voice.

Jenny's vast collection of Beanie Bears!
And below, a cross stitch stint - bear themed!

A representative of all the boyfriend gift bears!

What a combo! EVE BUNTING and JAN BRETT and BEARS

A gift bear from the camera shop

A row of clothed bears (and a sneaky rabbit, too!)

And while bear hunting, I found some eye-catching color in the basement.

Funny Bob Dole Halloween mask that I had to try on for a quick photo!

Have you been looking for Waldo? Here he is!

A pretty cloth from India. I'm not sure why it was in the basement closet (the abyss)

More color hiding away

Cast offs

The last of the college dorm room outfitting

And last: Bear of Honor
Edward is my bear. He lives in our bedroom. I bought him for myself a few years ago. I actually went out bear shopping, on a quest to find the perfect teddy. He's soft and pliable. He smells nice. He likes to be loved, I think.
Tell me about a bear in your life, please!

Hi Pom Pom

Adoreable snuggable post!

I still own the two teddies I had as a baby. One is pink. He is called "Johnny" and the other is white and is called "little white bear"

You can see them here in this link:

Think Pink

Have a lovely day :o)

Hi Carolyn! Your bears look so loved, hanging on the clothes line like that! I loved your pretty bride photo! You are beautiful!

Why don't you have any chainsaw bears in your home?

Lovely. Life would be much poorer without bears. Winnie the Pooh is the closest bear to my heart. I agree with MSM. Chainsaw bears would add some elegance to your massive bear collection.

I can't believe I am the only one who took my first bear home to my babies! Bryan always says, "why are we keeping this raggedy old bear?" But, I love her. She is so sweet and loved. Her once bright pink heart on her breast is old and worn now. I have to admit, though, I'm bummed I have her, making her unavailable to make the picture parade of all the bears. :)

I think I have three of the very same bears as you! I actually collected teddy bears for awhile. Right now there isn't a lot of room for them, so a few have been put away in storage, but there are still plenty around to enjoy. They are such charming little stuffed fellows (and ladies)! All the kids have one too. I have been meaning to make dapper little outfits for each one, but it's just another thing that remains on my to do list.

Thank you for sharing all your wonderful photos!

Blessings!
Deborah

Reminds me of the story of the little girl who called her teddybear "Gladly" - she noticed he had a wobbly eye, so she said "Gladly, My Cross Eyed Bear"

I just adore your Winnie The Pooh tea set!!! And oh how much I love the song Teddy Bear Picnic. My cousin who is just 8 years older than I, and who was raised like a sister to me, recalls with great fondness how often I sang that song as a child, like a broken record until everyone in my life knew the words by heart.
