It's Saturday (just in case you can't figure out what day of the week it is anymore 😉)
I found this birdie pillow at Walmart in the vast outdoor garden area. I am excited about eventually going to garden centers again. I bet you are, too.
I need some big bird cakes, too. Sigh. I guess they aren't necessary and I haven't BEEN to a Walmart but do they limit what you can shop for in the superstores? Do they say, "No, you may not go over to the fabric and craft area."?I really need the grands to come over and make a dent in this candy. I've eaten some but it gives Granny heartburn. 😂
After the snow went away 😏 I went out to see if anything grew. Yes! The one day lily that I have left (I used to have lots but we dug them up because they are piggy when it comes to space) is okay after her snow dose.
I think Holly Hollyhock is going to survive.
Look at the beautiful red peony shoots! Yay! 🎉
Rhubarb! Yay! A week ago there was no sign of this! I'm so excited for this plant to show her girth so I can increase my girth by eating pie and cobbler.
Here's a little perennial making a comeback.
I just got this fun cookbook in the mail. I haven't scanned the whole thing but there are some very yummy-looking dishes inside.
My sister (she's on top in the middle) sent me this old photo. I think it's 20 years old. My auntie is on the left and my mama is on the right and I am on the bottom with the dog😂
Well, I shall go make some muffins for dinner. I think I'll grind some carrots in the food processor (we are friends now) and throw in some shredded coconut and bit of ground almond and maybe some crushed pineapple. Sound good?
I have cleaned two levels of our floors. The top level where our room is rarely gets a good clean. I hope I have the verve to do that on Monday. Last night I turned the attic fan on because yesterday was a bit warmer than the day before. This was not a smart move. It was cold for us! Tim went under the covers to spoon with me. I guess his fur pajamas just aren't warm enough. Here he is eating again. 😂
Thank you so much for stopping in! I love hearing from you and I really love just knowing you visit. xoxoxo

Hello my friend. Yes I am looking forward to going to Garden Centres again. We cannot go to any retail stores here except supermarkets & pharmacies. I miss my little local Patchwork Store too. The photo that your sister sent you is just beautiful - a great one of you all. Have a lovely day dear Pom Pom xxx
What fun it is to go make a visit in the gardens to spy something poking out of the ground. It's one of my spring rituals. Soon I will have to dig out my summer clothes and sandals.
I miss going to the garden centers this time of year. That's another one of my spring rituals.
I love your little bird pillow.
Stay well and safe.
Hugs, Julia
Beautiful pillow AND the cushions behind it!
We are missing lots of things 💖 sending you lots of love
Our peonies are popping up along with rhubarb, too. So hopeful. Love that 20 year old photo. Such a happy group! Looking forward to the days ahead when we are past this...
hi karen I went to the supermarket yesterday, they had really good social distancing in place with markers on the floor and a one way system. I found a garden centre that delivered and so can pretty up the garden now. I have done a lot of online shopping, food, nail polish, dress, boots in the sales, I am probably shopping more wisely now than 'before' ! hope your plants thrive. Betty
What lovely sunny photos. My elderly friend is going to telephone me when her rhubarb is ready, to say she has put some in a bag hidden behind her gate. We arent allowed to go into other peoples homes now, except for emergencies., Rhubarb is not an essential emergency. Her dear husband keeps growing it every year and neither of them eat it, so she always passes it on to me. Our garden centres remain closed. MOST people in the UK are taking the instructions about social distancing very seriously. Having both had the virus, we cannot understand the mentality of people who think 'its just like flu. And I wont get it' and they go out and mix with others. Keep safe, keep well, my friend xx
Our garden centres are not open yet, but many are doing online orders and delivery, which is a help when you need bags of compost!
Hello my friend. I miss garden centres too. Our local family run garden centre is doing non contact delivery so I ordered sweet peas, compost and seeds. Steve is working at home. We are cooking together. I am knitting, sewing and trying to stay busy. I have been extremely lucky to get grocery store deliveries this far - the joy of insomnia - it's easier to get a slot booked for later that week in the middle of the night Each week we then drop supplies off to my mom and stand at the bottom of the drive and have a chat. I speak with her on the phone for an hour each day as usual. We video phone kids/grandkids. Strange times and desperately sad.I love the bird cushion. Great to read your news as usual. x
Nice to see all those new shoots.
I just came in the house from looking at my rhubarb and it is just starting too!!
Wow that is a lot of candy. I'm not a candy person, more of an ice cream person as you already know.
Sometimes I really do forgot what day of the week it is!! :)
Hello there! That's a very sweet bird pillow. Things are popping up in your garden nicely (but of course you know that, you just told us so!) I can't help stating the obvious ;) Yummy wheat berries! I've never tried to cook them, but there is a special Greek dish called Kolyva/Koliva I've tasted many times after church when there has been a memorial service. Very delicious. I hope your Sunday is going well. It's Pascha/Easter today for me and we will be enjoying some delicious foods. Blessings on your day and week!
I love looking at photos taken recently or 20 years ago. There is a strong family resemblance between you ladies. You are all so lovely.
I can see Strawberry/Rhubarb pie in your not-too-distant future!!
I really like that pillow! I too, want to get out to garden stores again! Stay warm and safe. My rhubarb is coming alive again and brilliant. We are in the Pacific NW, so we might be warmer here in the Valley. God bless, Kathi
You have a lot of things popping up in your garden. I am envious! I love looking through old photos, brings back lots of memories.
Just look at all those happy little green shoots popping up from the brown earth. I am so excited for you. Before you know it there will be flowers everywhere bowing before as you walk by. LOVE that sweet little birdie pillow. I wonder how long it will be till you and me and the whole world can once again go wherever we want and buy fabric and flowers......and well most everything.
Good morning, Pom Pom! Lovely photos — the one of your family is so nice and shows such a strong family resemblance! I love the prints from your photos from Walgreens — I should do that with some of my photos from trips instead of buying local art when I travel. That is a great idea. Have a great Monday!
I don't know about the "big cities", but our Walmart is completely open. I'm often attracted to the colorful $5 garden pillow display! And I'm keeping up my suet and sunflower seed supplies! I hope you can as well.
Look at all your perennials! Rhubarb is exciting! We can see a faint green color emerging in our grass. I'm sure there are some buds on the trees, I just can't see that well, lol. And, of course, my nose knows there's some pollen in the air.
Well, speaking of Walmart, Micah and I are heading into town with all the kids. And probably all the dogs, too! I car sit while Micah shops and vice versa.
Have a lovely week!
Love from Minnesota!
Pom Pom, your posts always cheer me up and make me smile. Well, at our Walmart the outside garden center gates are closed and locked, but folks, including me, went through the inside door and out to where the plants are. I bought several and no one stopped me. :) I love the little pictures you had framed at Walgreen. I've never seen that. Love the picture of you and you family too.
I love to hear about what you have been doing and see the pictures. I love the pictures of you and your sisters.
I love the colors that is on your blog.
Thank you for sharing.
It looks like you are far ahead of us. Some trees are showing signs of budding but not much green or things popping yet. Love Tim's dining mat! Our garden center gates are locked but you can buy plants and seeds at smaller nurseries and hardware stores. Stay well!
Isn't it good to see things growing in the spring? It gives one some courage to keep going and know that life will be warm and beautiful again. In our WalMart, they do not limit you on buying anything, nor do they limit the number. The one restriction I did find is that they are not allowing returns. They don't want merchandise coming back from possibly infected homes! Understandable.
I have been out some - grocery once each week, to the P.O., to the bakery a few times, stopping by the church to check on things. So I haven't stayed totally at home. I'm glad - I think I'd be a nervous wreck by now!
Such a bright post! Glad all is well with you. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
Your muffins sound like the delectable ones that Kim gave me when I visited her a year ago. And when I visited YOU, some time before that, you looked pretty much as in that beautiful photo! XOXO
