Halloween Plan B and Lunch

Because we have not turned the clocks back yet, Halloween night was very pretty!  Millie Rose barfed so Kelli's gang didn't come over.  James and Noah went around their own neighborhood like Jenny's gang, so it was just us.  We grilled steaks and watched Frasier.  It was a nice night (we missed our own family trick or treaters though).  We had tiny little door bell ringers and it was fun giving them lots of candy.  We had a cute storm trooper and a tiny Yoda.  We had a little fawn with her hunter brother (I thought that was a little weird but the little deer was darling).

My friend who was going to come over for lunch today has a fever so she can't come, but I'll tell you what we were going to have and you can tell me if you think it sounds tasty.
Menu:
spinach and red peppers with yummy vinaigrette
baked sweet potato with LOTS of butter
roasted tomato red pepper soup
crackers
key lime cake with raspberry sorbet
Would YOU like to come?

I am forcing myself to go for walks because (don't hate me) I really don't like exercise that is "just" exercise.  I like to have a mission.
I am waiting for one of those days when I feel like Wonder Woman so I can get my sewing moved, but so far I feel more like Mrs. Piggle Wiggle or maybe more like Amelia Bedelia.
Thank you for popping by.  I hope your November is nice and that you are feeling a bit of that lovely Christmas feeling perking up in your creative soul.  I am.
(HUGE HUG!)

My two little witches went trick or treating (it's actually known as 'guising' over here in Scotland)in their new neighbourhood and one of their new neighbours is a dentist. Guess what he gave them for their little buckets? A tiny tube of toothpaste each! No sweets, just toothpaste! No wonder, considering the amount of sugar contained in all their other sweets!Lovely Autumnal pics today and your lunch menu sounds scrummy!Thank you for commenting at mine, Pom. I always look forward to your thoughts. It's a pity many others who pass by but don't comment don't share your enthusiasm!

Sorry a little one was sick. That's heartbreaking...especially when they want to have fun. Glad you had steaks and watched Frasier. (My all time favorite TV show since Leave It To Beaver) LOL. Sounds like some fun kids came to your door. :):) I am not so into just exercising as when I was younger. I love to walk, rake or sweep. Can't always do it with my bad ankles...but I just keep trying. Blessings to you honey, xoxo, Susie

The lunch you had plans sounded so delicious! I would come if it wasn't such a long walk! I totally understand about exercise. I feel the same way. I'd rather clean the chicken coop than do a "work out video". At least I am accomplishing something. I do love to take walks though. I used to say those walks were for my sanity which is worth something!

Thinking about Xmas book gifts.

Hello Pom Pom, last year was the first year EVER that I had trick or treaters. Living in the country you don't get so many. This year I was well prepared with treats ... & no one came. That meant I got to eat them all myself!!! I feel a bit like you do about exercise. Yes please I would love to come for lunch. Xxx

I am so sorry everyone is getting sick. I am sorry you couldn't have your friend over. Your meal sounds fantastic.
I would come, I am not feeling sick at all. :)
Our Halloween was very quiet. The grands who live here were getting sick too.
The Arizona ones were too far.
It is easier to get exercise when you have purpose.
I hope you have a wonderful evening.

Yes, that sounds good. Wish I could pop over and join you.
My walk doesn't seem like exercise to me and that is why I've been able to take morning walks for YEARS. I look forward to my walks. Now the exercise tape I do a few times a week is WORK and I have to make myself do that!

I'm sorry your plans got changed because of illness but I love your menu. I would come in a blink.

Maybe next year it will all come together a lot better. We had no trick or treaters again this year. Our neighbourhood has no little one anymore. years ago when my kids were young, e had lots of small trick or treaters and it was so much fun putting lots of treats in their bags. Things have changed and not for the best.

Enjoy November.
Hugs, Julia

hope the sick bug didn't hang around for long. We flew home from C/rica on 31/12 and arrived back to see our neighbours had all decorated their houses with cobwebs, brooms, pumpkins and bats! Hope you can find some exercise you enjoy - I like doing body pump classes (weight lifting to music) at our gym and swimming, if I didn't enjoy it a lot I would never keep at it :)

You watch Frasier?? How wonderful, such a clever series. I did giggle at the mention of Amelia Bedelia. I think you are wonderful. Glorious photos of your Autumn-filled skies. Oh yes please, may I come and sit with you for a while and chat and munch on that glorious food??

Your vegetarian menu sounds perfectly delightful. It has given me ideas for this next week's menus because tomorrow is my shopping day and so far my grocery list looks pathetic ( I have to have a list or I come home having forgotten many things).

Well she missed a fancy lunch. It would be a nice treat for her when she's feeling better. I am much like you and don't take pleasure in pure exercise. I do enjoy a good walk with my hubby but here lately he's been jogging so I haven't gone with him. Not much fun in that.
xx Beca

I don't mind walks because my mission is to snoop around, take photos, whatever. But I do hate exercise like walk on a treadmill for an hour!

Lunch sounds good. Hope she feels better soon.

We don't get any trick-or-treaters on our rural highway, which is okay. If I bought candy for them, I know I'd eat most of it :(
I have lots of "projects" I need to get motivated on, and sewing is high on that list. I'm looking forward to your clothing sewing, Pom, to see how those items turn out. They looked so cool!
I'm getting very excited about Christmas this year. Because I'm not so busy as before, I'm getting my shopping done early! As I type, I'm listening to "Now bring me some figgy pudding," haha!
Happy chilly days, Pom! Enjoy your walks -- go out there looking for beauty, and not exercise :)

I'm so sorry that sickness has caused you to miss out on several fun events! Hope the little kiddos are better, what sorrow for the little one to get sick on Halloween! I would come for lunch, what a delight! Maybe you can do it again another day :) We have gotten about 8-10 inches of snow here, and another storm on the way. Winter has arrived, ready or not, lol! :)

Those sunsets are real pretty. Such good weather for Halloween this year. Oh boy...I'm right there with you. I need a goal in exercise like walking to a donut shop, LOL! But really I generally have to be pushed out the door. If I know I'll get some good photos I'm more motivated. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Your lunch sounds lovely and I would love to come if I didn't have to hobble I would love to come. Halloween was lovely here as well -- rain was a threat but it held off so it was all good. I can't believe it is already November -- what in the world happened to October?

nice menu! Yeah, I have a hard time exercising too! We did grocery shopping and that was my walk today... :)

Hi Pom Pom, I try to walk my dog but there are days when I don't want to so I can sympathize! It is dreary and has rained today so that will be my excuse! LOL Nancy

Oh man, I've been doing so much sitting lately! I really need to do some moving!
My landlady's two little boys went trick-or-treating as a hunter and a deer, ha ha. The baby's name is actually Hunter (he was the deer) and his brother, Wyatt, was the hunter. Yes, it is weird, lol!
Why, I'd LOVE to come over for lunch. May take me a while to get there, though. ;)
Enjoy getting into the Christmas spirit!

Amelia Bedelia - you are so funny :-)

I used to feel that way about taking walks, but I had to walk for the sake of my back, and then it was for the sake of prayer, and of seeing the creek on this particular morning as opposed to yesterday morning, and now it is for the sake of my mood and my digestion and who knows what else, so that I seem to be addicted to my walks ! and feel a great loss if I can only do one in a day.

I also used to feel that walking on the treadmill was more worthwhile, because I could get a harder workout and read at the same time. But now I love that I don't have to get in the car, and I can be outdoors... but as the weather gets colder and wetter I may have to go to the gym after all! I guess I love walking more than reading nowadays.

Lunch sounds lovely, but I'm sorry that I can't come either. I have to clear this book room so that I can do some clear thinking. November is my clear thinking month. My bleakly beautiful, not yet you-know-what, coldly empty space in the year. Maybe we'll do lunch after??
