Happy Things and "Nannie"

Cartwheels!  Somersaults!  High fives!  A tiny pansy is growing in the front garden!

This morning I opened a new can of Folger's (I've been buying the beans and grinding them myself at the grocery store lately but decided to go back to the red tub) and it smelled so yummy!  I pulled a scoop out of the drawer and then noticed how tarnished it was so I polished it with silver polish.  It's still a bit pitted but I thought it posed well for the photo.  Ha!

The Easter candy has appeared at the grocery store!  (Do I mention the grocery store a little too much?)

Here's the cuddle bug!  His hair is mussed from so much petting.  Poor dear.

Crazy hair day today!  Good job, Mommy!

It is FREEZING here.  The wind was biting everyone.  It'll warm up soon, I know.
I hope you will have a happy and peaceful week.
At church the pastor said that Lent isn't just about giving stuff up. It's about getting rid of whatever big thing keeps us from God, standing in the way of sweet relationship with Him.  I like that perspective, do you?

Thank you for stopping in!
Oh, real quick - I read a delicious book titled Tea by the Nursery Fire by Noel Streatfeild (love her).  I think it is based on her father's experience with his childhood nanny.  It was only $2.99 on Amazon Kindle.  Yesterday afternoon I started Elizabeth Goudge's Smoky House and found this dedication.  Nannie!  It is definitely a lovely topic to consider.  Enjoy!

Oh- I love that poem. You are right- I know grinding the beans give you fresher coffee but I LOVE opening the can and smelling the coffee all ground and waiting for me as it assaults me with it's aroma.
Good post! xo Diana

I have a dear friend who loves pansies. I've given her a few pansy related gifts over the years. My favorite Easter candy is the little Cadbury eggs... but they are addicting!

The smell of a brand new can of coffee is a wonderful thing, isn't it? I was taking note of the Easter candy at Target on Saturday. I'm a sucker for pastels. Pairing chocolate with pastels spells trouble for me. Ha!

What a nice dedication. Its was really cold here today too.
I love all of your pictures. I have never heard of that book before.
I wish I looked that cute on a bad hair day. I love seeing Timothy mussed up.
Have a lovely evening and a great Tuesday morning.

Oh how I love pansies. They really can pop up in the toughest spots. How wonderful to have a good Nannie. I haven't heard of that Goudge book. Have a wonderful week!

lovely little poem. I like the thought that we can give up the big problems that keep us from our Maker.. I'm a worrier, it's a really bad habit I know. Pansies are such smiley flowers and so resilient. Betty

A pansy! O joy! Love the Nanny dedication. I do hope it warms up soon, but it looks like more cold is coming to us for a while. So much WIND today! Sheesh!

Oh, that one sweet little pansy! You always have the sweetest posts. As I read the poem, I was thinking, this sounds like you, Pom Pom, with your grandchildren.

I agree with Jody! You must be "the sum of all that makes up warmth and tenderness."

We like the ease of Folgers too... and the spoon looks lovely all gussied up! Sweet Timothy, what a precious guy! I'm sure he'd take mussed fur all day, to be petted :) It has been snowing here - we got 3" last night, and another storm coming tonight. Winter is just plain persistent this year!

I do like your pastor's perspective on Lent. Something to remember all year long. I love the nanny poem! We've been getting a drop in temps here as well. Winter's trying to hang on a little longer. I do expect to enjoy my week! You too! :)

Crazy hair day is fun. Sometimes I wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, and think, "I guess I'm celebrating Crazy Hair Day today." ;)

Hope your week has been wonderful, and that the weekend is even more so!

My favorite dollhouse store will close the 15th, so I won't have reason to travel to your side of the city, and yes we should plan a trip the the DBG. Pick a date. Enjoying the rain this morning. Did you get snow?

"Nannie and the love of nursery days".....it must have been nice to have such memories to look back on, such a warm start to one's life. Smoky House is a delightful little tale. I enjoyed it and hope you do too. If my memory serves me (I posted a blog about it somewhere in the past) there really is a Smoky House Inn still there that EG used in her story. I just love England and all that history mixing with the present day. Here's hoping for some warmer weather for you soon. Spring is arriving everywhere across the globe, or the northern half anyway ;-) these days. Have a lovely week Pom Pom.

A few women have the gift of a Nannie personality. It is a rare thing. I do think almost all children long for that in someone, a grandma perhaps. I need to work on that :) Your books do sound good!
