The photo above is of the Guemes Island Rd. on Guemes Island in Washington State. It's one of my very favorite places.
The tree below is in my neighborhood and it reminded me of the big central tree in Hobbiton, New Zealand.
Trees
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

That first picture! Amazing. Magical. Wild. I can hear wind howling through it. :-)
Reminds me of 'Paint Your Wagon' when Clint made a valiant attempt to sing about talking to trees. I'm not surprised they wouldn't listen to him! I've been talking to mine, mainly bading the leaves farewell 'til next year!xxx
i learned just his week that joyce kilmer was a man. :)
love the shot of the snowy pine and fence.
I love trees too! xx
I have always loved that poem by Kilmer. Your tree photos are fantastic. I love them, too. When we rehabbed this house we put on a couple of "wings". When we were done we realized that each "corner" had a tree right there. I told him I planned it that way. lol
I love trees, too! o Diana
I am a big fan of trees too. I love all of your pictures of your tree friends. :)
I just went on a tree walk this morning myself!
I have been processing all the pictures I took and will put them in a blog post...
I really only have *one* tree right now, actually growing in the ground, but I decided I should enjoy the big ones that are all over town, too big to go in my yard. Glad I have my camera to do it with...
I'm with you liking trees and I too take lots of pictures of them. : )
I love trees, it would be a sad world without trees. Trees are so useful and giving that I can write a lot of words describing how useful they are and still never cover all their uses.
Hooray for trees.
You have some amazing photos of trees.
Hugs,
JB
I love trees too, and that is one of my favorite poems!
We have some big shrubs but no trees on our lot. We are, however surrounded by very big evergreen trees. Love your photos, esp. that first black and white one.
That huge evergreen covered with snow in your neighbor's (?) yard reminds me of something. There's a little house along the road I take to work each day. An old couple had lived there long before we moved here 26 years ago. Apparently, they either passed away or went to the nursing home. Anyway, the house sold. It was surrounded by huge, old evergreens. The woods behind it were very old, and the trees were enormously tall. Today I drove by and I see someone is cutting down the entire forest!! I suppose a logger thought, WOW, there's some great lumber there. Then they'll probably replant and make one of those "man-made" forests that's all one species of evergreen. A fake forest. Why can't we leave well enough alone? Trees are so magnificent.
Jo and I are thinking of writing a book called, "Do trees not get bored?" I love trees too, but I don't know The Giving Tree. Is it a huge gap in our communal reading? I'd like to be like the tree in the poem.
Oh I love trees too!! Ever since I was a child! That first picture looks like it needs to be a pen and ink!
I love The Giving Tree, what a wonderful book. I love Mary Poppins too, I was so excited to see her in your header. I hope you're having a good week, Mrs. Pom Pom. :)
I love all the different trees created for us to enjoy. You keep reminding me that I need to visit Guemes Island!!
