Pause in Advent: Advent and Appetizers

Tonight the local kids and grands are coming over for our first 2015 "Advent and Appetizers".  Bill will play the guitar and the grands will dance and jump.  We'll read from God's Word.  We'll eat turkey and beef on cocktail rolls, cheese dip, veggies, and cookies. We'll be off to a good start and the season will begin to roll pleasantly along.  (This is the hope and the first Sunday in advent is all about hope.)
It seems as if the Christmas baubles have multiplied in the box over the past year.  I'm halfway through the decorating.
Greens are pricey but worth it.  The scent is Christmas.

We use the same advent wreath my family used when I was growing up.  I do not know how I managed to inherit it because I know my four siblings loved advent, too.
Holy, holy, holy.
Pause in Advent was started by Floss from France and Angela from Tracing Rainbows is carrying it on.  It's one of the very sweet highlights of the blogging year.  The people are so good, so dear, so thoughtful.  Click over if you have time!
(BIG ADVENT HUG!)
(In the crockpot is a tasty appetizer:  hotdogs cut into four pieces, bacon wrapped around each piece and secured with a toothpick, a bag of brown sugar poured over all.  All day on low.  I know they are super unhealthy but irresistibly delicious!)

I love your new tradition. Advent and Appetizers. Wish that would work here because it sounds like a great start of the season. Dare I admit that sometimes Christmas makes me sad? It's all about HOPE, right?

I love your traditions. A good start to the Advent Calendar for sure.
The food sure is going to be a hit with the kids.

Love the sweet nativity and the old Advent wreath.

I'm still under the weather and have chill and headache and it comes and goes and have been in bed most of the day. I just got up to put a wee bit of food in my stomach to take my antibiotic just now. I went to work this morning but it zapped all my energy. My son had to take over my afternoon chores.
Enjoy your Advent tradition.
Hugs,
JB

I love how you are celebrating Advent, and wish I had my family closer to do the same.
Decorations have started here, but no tree yet, it's too warm.
Enjoy.

Advent seems to have started so early this year. I haven't started decorating yet.

I keep eliminating holiday decorations of all kinds. and so, it's less of a "chore' to put them up and take them down.

Just me. at my age.

if people love accumulating, good for them!!!!

me'thinks we all should pause, every day, in what can be a hectic time of year. so silly to let it become hectic. but we need reminders, not to. :-)
