Garden Fruits and Kids in Motion

I experience so much joy when the birds come to eat at my rickety feeders.  Look at that nice brown face!
 Such a lovely profile!
I think this is the first year that my potted flowers are doing WELL!  Yay!
I used my boots to mush about in the back garden, weeding.  They work so well!  I tucked the legs of my pajama pants in the boots, too.  I do my best weeding in the morning.  When do you weed?

 LOOK!  I'm growing funky peppers!
 And green peppers (yummy!)
My neighbor Reve is away, but when she comes home I must ask her how to tame my beans.
Basil!  What should I do with it? Suggestions?
 The rosemary smells like perfume.
I have so much parsley!  The bunnies are not eating it.  They like juicy grass.  Didn't Peter Rabbit like parsley?
My little Plum Cake eating a popsicle.  She is GOOD at it!  Her mother liked to sit in her high chair and eat popsicles, too.  Aw, my baby.
 Sam the Rose likes purple.
Maybe you should eat a popsicle today.
We had lots of girls and one boy in our yard last night.  Reve's daughter Holly was over watering the garden and the kids (Emma and William) hopped the fence.  With our five and these two, it was an adorable crowd.  Plum Cake was in her walker, closer to Mommy.

There you see Plum Cake watching all the action!
Reve's oldest grand, Emma!  I love her toadstool polka dots, don't you?
Crazy Miss Bug!  She was not harmed!
Poor William, being the only boy.  Finn gets tired of being the monster, too.
Yesterday, while Kelli shopped at our grocery store, I talked to her twice, she happened to see Holly (Reve's daughter) and Bill bumped into her in the parking lot!  I like the smallness of all that!  Anyway, Millie picked Dora bandaids for a treat (instead of a book!) and that's why she is sporting so many of them!

Birdie the boss.  I think she might have been hiding her eyes while everyone tried to find a hiding spot (there aren't many in the backyard!)

"Pleasant words are a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and healing to the bones."
        ~ Proverbs 16:24
Don't you LOVE that?  Can you think of some very pleasant words?  How about hummingbird and butterfly?  How about sparkle?  How about love?  Care?  What are some pleasant words that you use often?
Something I'm thinking about:  getting a black kitten.  I'm working on Bill.  He's softening.  I have the BEST name in mind for her.  I'll keep you posted.
Thank you for coming by and looking at all my photos and reading my words.  I appreciate your kind attentiveness.
Happy weekend!  xo

Your grandgirls sure are getting big! Basil...how I love it. I love it with pasta tossed with tomatoes/onion/garlic sauted in olive oil, on top of an english muffin turkey and tomoto melt and in my chicken salad. Yum!

1) I love your new teapots! 2) Turn the basil into pesto, if you like. You can keep it in a jar in your frig for a long time. 3) "Sparkle" was the name of our parakeet when I was a girl. 4) I've heard from my farmer niece that beans are really doing well this year, so you may have a bumper crop! 5) Those funky little peppers: are they the ones that later turn bright orange and are so pretty (and hot)? They're cute as bells! 6) the birdie in picture #1 seems like he's peeking his face around to look at you and check you out. 'There's my mama who feeds me!' he's saying.

I wondered what you had been doing and if you have settled back home. Your yard looks incredible and all of the kids what fun.
You asked about pleasant words, I just had to tell you this. My two year old granddaughter was walking with her mom. She saw a downy bird feather on the ground. She picked it up and showed her Mommy, " Look Mom, a butterfly leaf."
I have thought about it all weekend.
I love all of your peppers and I do hope you get to get a black kitten.
Have a lovely weekend.

You should eat a popsicle along with Plum Cake and have someone take your picture together - it would be very clear that you are her grandma!

Basil: slice a fresh tomato with fresh mozzarella slices and basil leaves drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar with a sprinkle of nice salt and pepper for a great salad. We like basil in pesto - try with different kinds of nuts (you can freeze pesto in little jars or ziplocs for a great winter snack over pasta). Dry some basil leaves and crumble into a mason jar to add to pasta sauce!

Basil keeps flies away so I have some in the conservatory at the moment in a pot, it's very nice with tinned tomatos to make a pasta sauce in the blender. I hope you get your little black kitten, my brother got a black one last year - it's called Magic, his two children had to agree to donate their pocket money to the cat's food and care as being a one parent family my brother found the prospect of a pet daunting - but I think this has turned out to be such a good thing for them as they feel they are responsible and that cat gets so much love! Basil and tomatoes and mozzarella! Yum.

Those kiddies are having such fun! Yes you must definitely get a black kitten - like my Max. They say black cats are the most difficult to rehome as people don't want them which I just don't understand at all as I love them! xx

So much running & jumping & joy!
Your grass is so grassy (as in lush & no weeds) & so very green!!! It must feel wonderful to run on in bare feet & roll in when your headstand or forward roll goes wonky : )
I must tell Rob about your book you read on the plane as he is in the middle (I just checked where his book mark is) of reading Too Close To The Sun by Sara Wheeler: The life & times of Denys Finch Hatton. He is enjoying it a great deal, which is extra marvelous as he didn't use to read, but now he loves reading with me when he comes home...even if it is the middle of the night by then!!
Interesting how many words are indeed pleasant: fragrant, sunshine, pastel, susurration, diaphanous, grace...others, not so much. So glad that you are home safe & sound & enriched. Very much love Catherine x0x0x0x

It looks like the children had a very fun time together! It's a joy to watch children play. Loved all the photos! Your grandchildren are so precious. My parents have a couple of bird feeders in their back yard, and enjoy watching the birds fly in and feed. Can't wait to hear about the black kitten. :)
