Sunday Twig Hunt

Hello!
I've been enjoying some peaceful reading: The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Gouge, The Tale of Holly How by Susan Wittig Albert, and Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott. Do you read multiple books at the same time?
I took a twig hunting walk today. The twigs below have not fallen yet. Smile.

Blue berries!

Twigs in a vase

Twigs in my cold hand!

I'd like to make a little fairy bed with my twigs, but somehow it doesn't seem right to use a glue gun on twigs. Maybe I'll figure out how to wrap the joints in twine. I'll put the little bed outside under a tree. I told Birdie a story about a little bed under a tree and a crabby squirrel. We drew a picture of it all and she wanted the story again in the morning. She'd like finding a tiny bed in Granny's garden.

Sammers! My grands have the cutest ponytails.

Today I got to smooch Prince Finnegan! He's so fun to squeeze!

I found this lovely Lisbeth Zwerger illustration. I like this granny wearing a peachy skirt, don't you?

Patricia Polacco draws incredible pictures. Do you like the old woman who lived in a shoe? How could you possibly have so many children that you didn't know what to do? This looks FUN!

Tomorrow's a monkey Monday. We're getting ready for state testing. I hope everyone is in a good mood at school. I'm going to TRY to be bouncy and pleased. I really am.
Right now, I'm relishing the Sunday night quiet and I'm dreaming of summer and tiny little fairy beds under leafy trees. What does your week hold?

What a sweet picture of you and Finn. Spring is in the air here in tx, but I have felt a little under the weather. May the Lord bless you with a good night's sleep and extra Monkey Monday grace! =D

Hi PomPom your new header is lovely. I have worked solidly all weekend until 10pm last night and am so looking forward to my day off today - this week the food shop even seems like a holiday activity! I will give lots of thought to healthy eating with the challenge of a tight recession hit budget - some cleaning and maybe a tiny bit of painting if time allows - oldest boy is on GCSE exams now and home revising a lot (science this week) - too wet for my lovely allotment but I may put my wellington boots on Wednesday and just hang out up there for the sheer pleasure that 'its mine'! Enjoy your week. Betty x

I have never heard of, or read that particular Alcott. A highlight of my trip to the USA was going to her home, and seeing the desk where she sat to write "Little Women" though.
enjoy your reading!

I'm hoping for a return to my little week routine this week- disruption for last fortnight from Half-Term and then busy-ness. So cleaning today- i could do with a switch of your branches to sweep winter from the dusty corners through all the open doors and windows that I have today! And a morning out with my Mum tomorrow- looking forward to that muchly! But a nice break now with you! I'm drinking tea and considering some toast with rhubarb and ginger jam- bought, not made! But I wish I had some of Angela's iced biscuits! Love to you, dear Pom Pom, summer is coming! Bonne semaine xx

You have a new picture at the top! I LOVE that house! Houses are wonderful. Your grandbabies are adorable - and I think this is the first picture I've seen of you. You have beautiful hair. My husband longs for a head of white hair, but I think he's consigned to a steely salt/pepper. I hope your Monday is happy!

What a lovely mixture of imaginative art, real and dear little people and a woman who must bounce back to work having rested so creatively. Thank you for such a rich sharing.

Oh and you asked questions...
If I don't get intensely drawn into a book, or until I do, I often do read more than one book at a time. You've reminded me today that although I don't have any little excuses to read children's book, I may still need them myself. Thank you..

I adore the picture of you and Finn. You should put it in a picture frame. I have been working on a family picture gallery for my just-painted hallway so I am in "special photo mode" and yours would be one!

I like your header and your choice of authors right now. I wish I had a bit more time for reading. Must carve out a little.

Happy Day!
Jody

Patricia Polacco is one of my favorites as both author and illustrator. I love her old Russian babushkas!

There has been a lot of Elizabeth Goudge talk over at Jody's Home-made Coffee Shoppe and I'd love to start one, but I'd better wait 'til I don't have so much school reading to do!

Lovely post!

Why yes, I do read multiple books at a time. Lately, I'm having trouble finding something I love enough to stay with - for some reason? Anyhoo, "The Little White Horse" is wonderful, isn't it? Love the photos of your littles and you -- such cute blue glasses you're sporting! And the photo by Patricia P. is so charming -- never heard of her -- must go google her for more loveliness.

Hugs & angels,

GG

I love all the sticks (twigs)! Ah, sticks ...

I also love Patricia Palacco. She's one of my favorite artists. I just ordered one of her books for Will from the latest Scholastic Book order (Pink and Say). I could look at her pictures forever.

Hello dearest, I am still here, I am so grateful for YOU! You may have guessed I am struggling a little with many things. Every now and again things all come at once and I am going through a very sad family time. Sometimes there isn't anything to say ... and sometimes too much! I won't be around much the next couple of weeks but YOU have always been in my thoughts and I'm truly sorry I haven't been to visit. I do hope you will forgive me

I adore your twigs as you knew I would. The twig fairy bed is a devine idea. How wonderful to find a twig fairy bed in the garden ... you must make one ... it would never be forgotten ;o)
Twigs and fairies are wonderful. I have twigs to share too ... but it will keep

Lots and lots of love to you sweet
xoxo

I think if all my children were crying I wouldn't know what to do either. Pom Pom, I ready waaaay too many books at one time. Sometimes I think it is a wonder I get any of them done at all.

Have a blessed week!

ooooooooohhh~!!~i have a suggestion for your twig fairy bed~!~

you can get thin (but strong) florist wire fairly inexpensively and the stuff i have is dark green but i bet you can get brown too . . . i would think you could use it to bind your little bed together and it might not even really show up much.

if you try this i would love to hear/see how it works for you.

Trying to be bouncy is so difficult! I love the picture of the old lady carrying the tiny little girl :)
