Wearing the Flowers of Paradise

Inside, we have a hyacinth bulb looking delicate with her white roots and her green stem and outside we have WHITE and cold.  That's okay.  It IS January, after all.

I can't have a fire so I lit a whole bunch of candles as I drank my tea.
Isn't the pine cone pretty?  Greens are just as much the stars of Christmas as poinsettias, aren't they?
There are some pretty candy canes left over from the tree.  Would you like one?

There is joy to be had today.  I've had dry sinuses and that makes me a little sleepy, but all the white outside shines in the windows and brightens my get-up-and-go.
When I took my Susan Branch books from the shelf I found a big pile of hankies.  One day quite some time ago I ironed them, folding each one so carefully.  Pretty.
This weekend we were in the company of quite a few cherubs.  Aw!
I'd like to give you some sweet words from My Daily Meditation for the Circling Year:
We can begin even now to wear the flowers of Paradise.  We can begin even now to furnish our minds with lovely thoughts and memories.  We can have "the mind of Christ".

Thank you for stopping by today!

I like your stack of hankies. Not too long ago someone ( was it by chance you?) posted that they were going to begin carrying a hankie in their pocket. Ever since then I have been doing just that. Now instead of being on a shelf my old hankies are actually being used.

What a pretty vase to go with your pinecone arrangement. I like the ED quote!

I posted a picture of bulbs that I am forcing too! Great minds! Your stack of hankies remind me of my grandmother and her sisters... they always had pretty hankies and they were always ironed and folded neatly.

When you post lovely words like, " We can begin even now to wear the flowers of Paradise...We can have the mind of Christ" It quiets my soul and calms my heart.
I love seeing all of the bright colors that you surround yourself with and how the people in your life are what make up your days. It always makes me stop and pause.
I hope your sinuses feel better. I am so sorry. It does looks like a cold, curl up by a fire kind of day. Hugs from me to you.

Jo says he'd like a candy cane! Also wants to know if the red line in the snow at the bottom of your garden is made of toadstools?! I've just been reading SB blog and am thinking about her verse on nourishing the gift within. You're very good at that x

We CAN have the mind of Christ -- Scripture says so! Thanks for that reminder, Pom. Candy canes are so very pretty, but I never buy them b/c I never eat them. But what a pretty assortment they are! I'm enjoying your bright toadstools in the background and all your pretty, colorful things in winter. I may buy some bulbs to force this winter. What a good idea!

I think sometimes I'm so caught up in the "mechanics" of the Chritian life that I forget what God's real goal is. To spend eternity enjoying the companionship of his children. Simple. (Oh, I look forward to that simplicity!) Joy to you as you read by your candles. :)

Thanks for spreading your joy in a colorful way. There's nothing like spending time with the little ones to put on the mind of Christ.

I hope your sinus problem clears up.

Hugs,
JB

Your snow is very pretty! I like the greens and candles a lot! I still have some around too. I think they go well into January.

No candy canes for me, thank you. I'm trying to avoid sugar right now.

I'm growing some paperwhites on my kitchen counter.

Such a bright and cheerful post to brighten a grey & gloomy day in Normandy, merci.

Lovely to see the colour in your home. My hyacinths seem very slow this year. Oh well - I shall appreciate them all the more when they get going properly! x

Oh how sweet is that little message. The hankies are pretty and so full of memories. And wow aren't you lucky to have that snow around you. While we are sweating here in the heat.
Take care PomPom.

Love the shoes. Just think, pre-retirement you would be going back to work and I would be writing a syllabus or two. Nice to sit with our feet up, isn't it?

Candles when you can't have a fire. Sweet...

Wondering why no fire? We have a fireplace with gas. We don't use it in such very cold weather as we are now having, because it would defeat the purpose. Loss of heat.. Instead of heat-heat.

Not sure if this is your reason...

But love the candles!

I just bought a little pot of orange tulips for $4 and that may be the best $4 I ever spent! Flowers this time of year are paradise indeed.
