A Few Things

Hello friends!  Here it is Monday again, after a full and busy weekend for us (Granny and Grampy).  It's a quiet day today. 😎

The church we've been attending gives away three-month devotionals and I've been enjoying mine (after finding it in a pile on my desk😏).

One day we went to one of those big stores that sells overstocks of all kinds and we found little baby dolls.  Sam and Plum gave them baths.

A pretty dianthus purchase from the Home Depot.

I'm putting them in front of the random zinnias.

Fuzzy Wuzzy likes this cuddly gray blanket.

We loved spending time with our Ft. Collins grands while their parents celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary.  I can hardly believe they've been married that long!
 Hello Atticus!
Two of the cousin families couldn't come over and join us for dinner (Kelli's gang is in California and Christie's grandma died so her family gathered to honor her memory).

The cutie pies had fun together!
Look at Aria making a funny face πŸ˜‡

We're having a cool day with a bit of rain which is a lovely change.  See?  The weather is making me love August.  I can even go outside this afternoon and plant more dianthus and pansies while dinner cooks.

I looked back at past Augusts and found some photos of my river.  This is the Skagit River in Washington.  Quite a few years ago, my parents and I took a little driving trip north of my hometown.  Isn't it pretty?  Do you have a river?  If you are a good Ratty or Mole, you do.

I have a personal Jane Austen week that I've planned starting Friday.  I am going to read Jane Austen books, enjoy Jane Austen devotions (yes, I have a Jane Austen devotional), knit a small Jane Austen project, draw some Jane Austen frocks, drink tea, and walk.  Sound fun?  I'll watch some J.A. films, too.  My favorite is Sense and Sensibility, but I'll watch a few more.
There is no reason to do this at this particular time, but I'm looking forward to it. I'll take some pretty photos and let you know how it goes.
Thank you so much for stopping by!  You're friendly!

Sounds like you had a busy weekend with the grands.

Your JA weekend sounds great. I love when I can do that and not think about the chores that didn't get finished.

Your flowers are so pretty and the Zinnia's are so tall.

Have a great week.

Hugs,
Mary

Your pictures of that body of water and the mountains is so beautiful. I bet it's a nice place to relax. I love that reflection, a great little book to ponder on the scripture.
The kids are playing so nicely together, they looks like delightful children to have around.
Summer is winding down and soon the daylight saving time will be here.
Enjoy August, I sure am trying hard.
Hugs, Julia

What a fun week!! How fun to do a Jane Austen week. You always think of such fun things to do. It looks like you had such a fun time with your grands. I love getting caught up with you. You always manage to take pictures. Last night I was sitting down and looking at all of the towels hanging on the porch and I though, gee I didn't take a single picture. :(

Have a lovely day.

Your plan sounds fun. I don't think I've seen any Jane Austen films but they sound enjoyable. I can see why you were busy this weekend. Looks like you were in wonderful company. The grandkids definitely look happy to spend time with you.

Your river is beautiful. We don't have a river nearby, but we do have a lake. Nice to gaze at water.
Enjoy your Jane Austen week.

Oooo, enjoy your Jane Austin week! I sort of had one this spring and read all her books and watched most of the movies. I always feel so homey after her books and want to eat scones and wear pearls. :) Kit

Hello - I found you via Jean Miles blog. We're neighbors - I'm in Seattle. A happy elderly knitter - not much younger than Jean. Hooray for your 87 year old mom going to the Terra Cotta Warriors - I went recently - fabulous! Best wishes - Janet

Oooooh - I love a Jane Austen week! I can't start this Friday because I'll be driving LONG hours, coming home from taking Julia to college. But maybe I could join you next week? I'd love to know hat you are knitting that is Jane Austenish. A thin, drapey shawl? Let us know, please.

You know I have a river here (haha) but I do love the lush green hills around your river. Looks like you had fun with the grands. Your family is so close and loving, and I know they learned that from YOU :) Our August is quite hot and unpleasant outside, sorry to say.
