Shelves, a Selfie, Socks, and Flowers

I've been tidying up book nooks in my office.  Wouldn't you love to sit a while with a few of these?  Brambly Hedge especially, I bet.
Below is the "devotion" shelf.
Every now and then I must insert a selfie.
My neighbor shared some sea lavender again.  Isn't it delicate?
 Pickles in waiting . . .  argh.
I haven't decided where to PUT all the pickles.  Many are refrigerator pickles, pigging a good bit of space in the ice box.
The sock knitting bug has bitten.

I've been adding to my Rule of Life board.
One day the children and the grandchildren (well, just Birdie) were making comments about my wall pictures.  "That looks like you've had it forever."  "Why do you have pictures of snow scenes when it's high summer?"  Hmmmm.  I guess I had become "what's in the frames" blind.  I printed art from my Pinterest boards and placed them in the frames.  Yes, I am a real art snob.  Yes, indeed.  I don't know ANYTHING about art.  I just know what images I like.  So there.

I know I've said this before but when I move my laptop to the table in the living room, I blog more.  So, I'm planning on blogging more because . . . it's fun.
The sunflowers are as high as an elephant's eye.

 "Pick me!  Pick me!"
I have lots of marigolds again.  They like it here.  My neighbor told me that she read somewhere that the Japanese beetles like them, too.  Yikes.  I know they liked eating my roses.

Today I have book club.  I'm not very excited about going.  The hostess is having her road paved so we have to park and walk (whine, whine, whine) AND I didn't like the book they chose because I'd already read it and didn't really like it then so I did not reread it.  Oh well.  I'll still go because the ladies are fun to listen to and I don't want to be a flake.  I'm taking my knitting.

I should hurry up and shower, go to the grocery store, get the office mail, do my work BEFORE I go to book club, but I often refuse to hurry. Do you?
Thank you for stopping in today.  I'm glad you stop in regularly.  You're nice.

I had a book club for six years and we faced similar feelings. I am sure you'll be a blessing to the ladies. I like your art style too! My granddaughter, 7, also notices every framed photo in my office as we do our crafts. She also looks pleasantly surprised when she sees HER artwork framed next to my commuter! Have a wonderful day, Pom.

Friends, I keep forgetting to mention that sometimes comments don't come to my inbox. They stay on the dashboard until I go in and check unpublished comments. This is new (well, the last year maybe). So, I don't always know they are there but I am going to check more regularly because I HATE missing your sweet and personal words. THANK YOU!

Well you are a good sport for going ahead to book club with all it's challenges! :) My daughter in law made the best cucumber salsa this past weekend with cucumbers from the garden.
Look at all those pickles!
Love that selfie! Have a good day dear Pom Pom!

Oh poor you! You would have to walk to get to my house too. It must just be the way things are going on right now. Oh, that is so sad a repeat of a book you didn't like. Not fun. I like your knitting socks. I always enjoy watching Meg knit socks.
I am glad you are going to blog more. I like that. I love reading your posts. I loved your Selfie. ;)
Have a lovely day at your book club and you know, I would love to sit and talk for hours about all of your friendly book shelves. :)

You are very good to keep going to book club. I gradually disappeared from mine. You should start a Beatrix Potter book club! The Ultimate Peter Rabbit? That must be good! I think I'm going to dig out my Toon Tellegen again...

I hate to be late for anything so I rush around like a crazy woman at times to leave on time. : )
My book club meets at the library so there is always lots of parking!
Have fun at your meeting. : )

Dear Pompom I love your blog and I'm so glad you're going to be blogging even more!! I love seeing people's bookshelves and yours are awesome. So much Beatrix Potter. I must pay a visit to a few used books stores and see what I can find. And I love your rule-of-Life board. Your Marigolds are wonderful and your cukes are obviously very prolific.

sweet art. loved your 'selfie.' :)

Oh yes, I would very much like to peek into your books.
I was in a book club years ago and found it came to the point where I would just rather read what I wanted to when I wanted to. So, when it fell apart I wasn't too sad. It was good while it lasted.

I have wonderful marigolds this year too, but something (I suspect birds) ate all of my sunflower seeds before they had a chance to grow :-( I love your art... I never thought of downloading art and framing it, what a good idea! I belong to a book club too. We are all retired educators or still in the education world. There are 9 of us and what I hate is trying to get everyone together with all the busy schedules... I'm so glad you go even when you aren't thrilled with the book... or the walk! I'm glad you will be blogging more. Your blogs make me smile!

Loved your selfie! ~smile~
Your art is wonderful. I like them all. They reflect YOU, which is very nice! I have no refrigerator pickles, but I do have pretty marigolds like you!
I don't like to hurry either.

The feeling of hurry is an urge that needs to be resisted! <3

In the last year or two I've refused to hurry and that annoys me sometimes!!! Too bad about the book for book club :( otherwise book club sounds fun. We had tornado scares here yesterday but thankful all is well for us. The garden got a good watering out of it though!

Im so glad you will be blogging more. I like your attitude to art, I know nothing about it either and don't have anything much on the walls as I get fed up looking at the same thing very quickly! Maybe I should do something about that. We are about to enjoy a thunderstorm and I am going out in the garden to get the maximum benefit of it! we had a heatwave this week (at work we had ice cream and cold drinks with ice and they brought in fans as the aircon failed) it's going to be so good to have rain. xx

Oh what a fun blog you have. Love your bookshelf. I have the Velvet Pears book...loved it! Cute selfie; you have the sweetest smile. So happy I happened upon your place. Me thinks I might just have to swing by again.

Wondering how your book club went. Were you quiet? Hope you spoke up and said you did NOT like the book, and then gave reasons. Of course, you would then have to ignore the resulting looks of disdain. Yes, I've done that many a time. :o)

As always this post makes me smile!!! Oh, the books, so many line my shelves also. I can't believe you have that Mary Pride book...oh my, that brings back memories! Love your pictures...and your zest for life! I hope the book club went well.

We are retired. We don't have to hurry. That's why we retired. I wish I could knit. I love your socks. Your yarn. Your patterns. And the pictures on the wall. Kids Say the Darnedest Things, don't they? And they ask good questions--ones we don't always have an answer for and just have make one up.

I've never been in a book club although I did participate in an online one with friends once. I love your collection of books. I became interested in Beatrix Potter after reading Susan Branch's book - "A Fine Romance". Have you read it? I really think you'd like it. I especially love the selfie! *smile*

Hi Pom! I love all your art -- especially the gnomes! And your socks are so pretty. Isn't sock knitting fun? And re: book clubs -- bah. I rarely like the book choices, so I flaked out and quit 🙄. I dont know why they don't want to read the books I like -- e.g. National Velvet, Winnie the Pooh, and Beatrix Potter, etc. 😉

Just noticed L'Abri on your bookshelf -- love E. Schaeffer! Her books were 2nd only to my bible when I was a young mother -- so much wisdom and encouragement. Need to read them again.

I really like your framed art. It looks clean and pretty, and why pay a fortune? I don't mind your whining :) I have a few whines I need to get out too, and I've slacked off on my personal blog. Need to get back to it!
