Snow and Polka Dots

Would you like a cookie?  I haven't been baking because it would be impossible for the two of us to consume this many cookies, but I DO like looking at them.
It's FREEZING here (big snow storm . . . blah, blah, blah) so I bought a 5 dollar polka dot tablecloth at the grocery store.

I know.  I know.  I KNOW.  It's winter.  I am thankful for blue sky, even on snowy days.

My friend Heather from Blackberry Rambles told me about these two books.  They are SO COZY.
Example:  "Mrs. Apple went back to the house to change into her bee clothes.  She came out wearing Wellington boots, into which she had tucked the legs of a pair of old trousers, but her skirt came down over the top so you couldn't really see this.  She wore a jacket which had once belonged to a postman, buttoned up to her neck, and on her head a felt hat with a wide brim, and a veil which fell down round her face."
You want to read it, don't you?  Do you think children like to read cozy stories?  Have they been spoiled by Youtube videos, Disney Jr. and toys that come with books?  I hope not.  I read some of this story to Birdie and she liked it especially when I told her that I like it because of the cozy pictures that form in my head.  She is eight, but she still loves to be lifted up by her Uncle Jeff.  She loved having her family there to celebrate her birthday.  Aw!
Here is our baby who is a wife and mama of Samantha and Plum Cake.  Little lamb.
Yes, the cold wind doth blow, but the sunsets are nice.
Here's a little garden sprite to remind us of spring. As if robins and polka dots aren't enough.

I love your table cloth. I would have bought it too, it just looks like spring! I like the two books you found too. I think they are lovely. I like books like that too.
All of your family is just wonderful.
I know I say it over and over but your pictures make me happy. Even that one with all of the snow. :)

I couldn't help but notice the polka dots on the chickens and in the berries on the other book cover.
That's a whole lot of polka dots under one roof. love the polka dot tablecloth.

Stay warm. It was warm for one day and back to very cold windy condition tonight,

Hugs,
JB

Poor dear, suffering through the cold and snow. We have the cold, but the snow went by us, and I'm glad. I love the storybook you tempted us with. I think I would like it too. I love to read to my grandkids and I like to read cozy, interesting books that make a "movie in the mind" as my kids used to call it. I'm going to keep on reading books and giving books to the Littles in my life.

Sweet Baby James looks happy!

Yes please on the cookie. I don't think I've ever turned down a chocolate chip cookie.
I'm loving the spring look over here despite your wintery weather.
Your table looks most cheerful and your little garden sprite is adorable.
Oh, and the books look delightful. I hope kids still like cozy books. My 20 month old grandson is just starting to appreciate stories. His current favorite is "I'm A Little Teapot".

James has the cutest little face! So dear. I bake cookies and freeze them in a pail with a lid (of course), and when the kids and grandkids come over right after they say hi how are you they're off to the freezer to get cookies. Which they eat frozen. Chocolate chip oatmeal are big favourites.

Oh stay warm, PP! Our winter is a toy thing in comparison to photos from the States. I think my boys' have been a bit too sated with bright action from Pixar and beyond. I try to keep them grounded deep in old tales with less grit and more wholesomeness.

Love the springy tablecloth and how your home always overflows with loved ones!

The books look wonderful! I'll have to check them out.

I was not a big cookie fan before, but now that I'm trying to cut out gluten they look SO DELICIOUS! Gluten free stuff just doesn't measure up.

Hope your snow disappears soon! Pretty sunset!

Oh, the cold, gray snow! One must look for color and sparkle and warmth out there :) I do believe firmly in the wonder of READING ALOUD, no matter who is the reader, or the listener, or even what the story is. There's a richness there in voice and mental image that cannot be gotten any other way. Youtube particularly is weak in comparison. So hopefully reading aloud will not die out altogether.

David and I are still reading "More Tales..." we both love it SO much we can hardly stand the fact that soon we will be finished. I'm so glad he likes to read them. They are definitely COZY reading. So much more so than so many books I read. I want to write like that!!!!!
