Happy Lazy Week to one and all! Oh, maybe you aren't lazy, but I am! When I say lazy I really mean, "I'll do what I want!" I'm eating oranges and below you'll see all the mushrooms I ate! I have declared 2012 The Year of the Toadstool. I am on the lookout for toadstools because I am a forest and fairyland fan. I just can't get enough of toadstools.
I am one of those people who isn't shy about purchasing gifts FOR MYSELF. Smile. I ordered this and then I didn't get any emails about placing my order, so I decided maybe it "was not to be" and then this lovely print mail sack came in the mail today!
Inside was THIS! Woo hoo! This is the very coolest bag I have ever owned. Cath Kidston stuff is so very tempting. One of my dearest UK friends has sent me CK goodies before and now I have a few little accessories to put in my bag! One of my dear Italian friends has also sent me lovely CK stuff. Oh, I love my new bag!
Speaking of toadstools and all things happy, I have made quite a bit of progress on my pixie hat! The wool is Lion Brand Martha Stewart. It's called roving wool. The color is: poppy. Love that! I'll show you the finished product. I have a brilliant idea and it's not going to be just any old pixie hat!
Here is another present I gave myself. Oh yes. I have a paperback version and I love it, but this is a good format for my reread of one of the most tantalizing descriptions of hamlet life.
This book was also a Christmas gift and Lisbeth Zwerger is one of my all-time favorite illustrators. She's amazing. I find her work so inspirational. I did a little copying. FUN!
I went over to our Jenny's house today because she was feeling horrible due to a cold. Samantha Rose was mellow, so when she napped, Jenny and I took a nap on their fancy foam bed. Ahhhhh! WHAT a delicious nap!
Then off to the grocery store for dinner ingredients. Did I tell you my mom and dad sent us a Lobster Gram? Yes, we dined on lobster tail and clam chowder, crab cakes and cheesecake last week. Today, I "thought" about buying lobster tails (on sale for $5.99) but just purchased a pound of shrimp instead. I really should live by the sea. I do love the food that swims in the ocean!
Anyway . . . when I commented over on the wonderful Susan Branch's blog I said that I think the new year will mean FLOWERS for me. Why not? I love spring. I love summer. I think that even though we don't usually eat them, we should buy them occasionally to feast our eyes. Don't you think so, too? I leave you with my flower purchases. I hope they brighten YOUR day, the remainder of your week, and your NEW YEAR!
I have stories to grade for my students. We wrote Cinderella tales and made books. I'll show them to you very soon. I made one, too!
Bye bye dear neighbors! Thank you for visiting me. I so appreciate it.

We've been eating lots of cuties (clementines) lately, they are so delish. I love all your brightness! The drawings you did are magnificent, really! And the CK bag -- adorable! Your flowers are cheery too. So nice to come visiting here.
Well, I hope you are ready for a novel from me. As always so many good things to think about and write about in your blog. Oh, I love primroses. Did you know that when I buy flowers during the gray days of January, it always feels like medicine for the soul. It always makes me feel so much better. I like your drawings. I have my old books from when I was a little girl and they are called The Best in Children's Literature. The art work for Thumbelina, as it is called in there, Is wonderful.
Do you know I must have spent so much time looking at the pictures before I could read that even today, I know what stories are in there by the binding.
I did not know that Lark Rise to Candleford is a book. I will have to find that.
I love your presents to yourself. Just lovely.
Have a wonderful time off my dear Pom Pom, keep knitting with that beautiful red yarn.
It is always so nice to visit with you.

Toadstools, yes! I like them raw in salad, not cooked, but love to see them growing in the woods - my favourite is fly agaric (not for eating!), deer in the woods here eat the toadstools and I do wonder if that's how father christmas came to have flying reindeers! Your drawings are really lovely and fun and I think you must do more. I am cooking Amber fish, she would love to live by the sea too I think. I am seaside person - my granny lived by the sea in Porlock, Somerset and we walked on Porlock Weir - maybe one day you will visit the UK and see our lovely beaches. I love your CK bag - I do like her bags but have had to resist, however my sons both bought be a CK mug so I can drink tea in style with a friend!

Mmmmmmmushrooms.
I love lazy days... and we do deserve them every now and again, don't we?
I'm happy to see you're munching on healthy fare. I'm "guiltily" still eating cookies and candies and watching the number on my scale inch up.
Your bag is beautiful and so feminine! I know you'll enjoy carrying it. I didn't know you're an artist. Your artwork is wonderful! I hope you do more and post it. It makes me want to pull my colored pencils and markers out and start again.
Wishing you a wonderful, happy New year!

I love the look of your blog Pom Pom, bright and cheery, just like you, and I love the idea of buying yourself presents! It's my birthday very very soon, so I just might buy myself some presents too! Happy New Year x
Love Lizbeth Zweger's illustrations. They really make the book. And Larkrise is my favorite. I keep watching the dvd's over and over. And I wish someone would send me a lobster gram and a Cath Kidston bag. My daughter owns one (there is something wrong with that picture).
Happy New Year.
Hello Pom Pom, what a pretty post! Thanks so much for your Christmas greetings, and have a wonderful and blessed 2012.
Hi Pom Pom - we were commenting on each others' posts at the same time! Yes, thanks, we're home now and colder here in France than anywhere in the UK! But happy, with it.

**squeeel** Love your pretty, pretty purse! Oh my. Love it!!! I just had a grapefruit and an orange (from the Valley courtesy of my mom) with my lunch. AND lemon in my tea. It is a very citrussy day. Yum.
I love your illustrations! I'm a copier of illustrations too, I guess. I've felt guilty about not coming up with something original to draw, but then I decided it was okay to copy...if that's what gave me joy. My little present to myself!
Thanks for your joyful post!
Your drawing style reminds me of Patricia Polacco. She's one of my favorite illustrators!
to you who's sweet and so much fun and have inspired me with joy all year long :)

As to treating oneself...YES!
May the worst of 2012 be from the best of 2011 from Thistle Cove Farm.
Pom, I love your bright colors! I'm too chicken to wear them, but you're brave :) Your new copy of Lark Rise is superb. Can you sometime show us some of the wood-engravings from the inside? It looks interesting. What year was this copy published? I'm a geek about books :)
Happy is what you do best, PomPom! I look forward to more in 2012.
