A Moose and a Ballerina

Hello! I've been at my sewing machine, making paper bunting for an event at school. I am not sure why I volunteered to help. This week is so packed with responsibility. YIKES! I'm not that responsible.

It's VERY cold outside. The roads are icy, the temperatures are dipping down. I really don't like the heat blowing in the house. It's like the fans going constantly in the summer. Do you like the Grandma Moses print above? It looks like the perfect temperature. Sigh.

The other day I was showering quickly, getting ready to zip off to school, but I noticed that every water drop on the shower door was reflecting the black and white checks on the bathroom floor. Each little drop, checked and miraculous. It made me feel centered, stilled, and focused.

Birdie is the second ballerina from the right. Yes, she had her own routine in mind. The recital was last June and I had such a nice chuckle while we watched. She embraced the stage, was NOT the least bit frightened, and entertained us in the purest sense. Oh, how I love pink ballerinas. I am going to dig in the ironing basket for something pink to wear to school since old Jack Frost seems to be dictating the weather.

Are you getting ready for Valentine's Day? My Valentine is in New Zealand. I have a dermatologist appointment that day. Oh well, I do think I'll eat chocolate for dinner or maybe buy myself a cherry pie. I've been looking at the gourmet pies but refraining from putting one in my shopping buggy. What treat will you enjoy on Love Day?

I'm a tiny bit droopy and I have a morning meeting (for THE EVENT at school) but I'm going to try to keep my "Ann Face" on all day. I'll keep putting along with the kids at school, go to ANOTHER meeting after school, stop at the fabric store for more bias tape (for the buntings) and the office store for papery things. Oh my goodness. I'm behind. Drat.

There are blue skies ahead and right now I'm tucked safely in our white house with green trim, ready for another hot cup of coffee before venturing out in the winter wonderland that is Denver in February.
I'll take pictures of "the event" on Friday evening. Birdie is having lots of little children over for her 4th birthday this Saturday, too. Pom Pom the Clown might attend. I'll take pictures of THAT, I promise.
Thank you for reading. It's Wednesday you know. Wednesday is such a nice little bump in the week because tomorrow is Thursday and over the course of the week, the students at school mellow. I'm going to start calling Monday "Monkey Monday" because they DO act like monkeys after spending a weekend acting like teenagers (go figure!).
And yes, Frances, lip gloss abounds and the smell of cheap and flowery spray-on fragrances fills the hallways.
I hope you all have a toasty day.

Oh your home is perfect- as you are perfect! I am rubbish at responsibility- the only reason I'm here on your snowy porch is because I CANNOT find the courage to send an email to the woman I want to speak on Mother's day! Go figure that! We'll be on a half-term break in the mountains for Valentine's. I have a little chocolate cake thing bought for PC, a card for Mattman with Chinese writing because that's been his topic in school, a cheeky monkey card for Jo because he is constantly, and will hope to bake red velvet cupcakes at the house. I'll kiss one for you!

On several Valentine's Days I've made my hubby a pink Rice Krispie treat -- that's his favorite dessert. I either shape it in a heart shape by hand, or else make a round one, and cut it into a heart. One year, I got a local lady who did special bakery items, to make him a mini round cake, with "I love you, Adam" on the top :) That was fun.

Good Morning My Sweet FocusedFriend! I've never heard anyone describe waterdroplets in the shower....much less how they reflect the floor...now that is focusing!

Today I am focusing on hosting the Wednesday Knit FourSome! It's going to be our Valentine Tea Party. I hope you will visit SuKnitWitty later this evening and join us for Knitting and Tea.

Love Ballerina Birdie...and YOU!

That Birdie is so cute doing her own thang! I LOL! Good for her. Monkey Mondays!!! I love it. Can't wait to see more pictures. V-day will probably be some sort of pasta and I saw strawberries are on sale at Kroger so I might dip some in chocolate.
Blessings,
Leslie in tx...where we are having ANOTHER snow day, canyoubelieveit?

So funny that you reference the students with smelly perfume and lip gloss! Until a couple of years ago the middle school and high school I work in used to share a building and my art room was in the 8th grade hallway. The high schoolers would walk into my room gagging and sneezing from the swirling mix of scents in the hallway! We used to say it smells like teen spirit!

The fact that you noticed the checkered droplets shows that you are Not Behind at all! You are right there where you are. God bless you.

Oh how I love Birdie!!

Be sure not to overdo things Pom Pom, make sure you rest plenty. Big hugs, xxx

Oh Pom, that photo of your little ballerina reminds me of Jess when she was that age. She also had her own agenda and took a quick little cat nap on stage instead of 'blooming' with the other little flower fairies -- it was so funny & sweet -- as is your little one!
As you know, my mister is gone a lot too, and it does get dreary indeed spending day after day alone, doesn't it? Anyway, how about pink peppermint ice cream with all the toppings on Valentine's Day? I think that's going to be my treat for the day ;).
Hearts & flowers to you,
GG

I like the Grandma Moses picture, and I am really hoping for an early spring this year. In fact, I dreamed it stayed spring (meaning warmer) from here on out. Oh, I wish.

Love that Birdie!

Your white with green trimmed house looks welcoming to me.

Stay warm and keep on smiling!
Jody

That picture of little Birdie is so darling. I hope this year's recital is as entertaining. :)
I think you stole that Ann from me (or more likely, we left it there). I think we got it for Bug?
I hope YOU had a toasty day. :*

Hi Pom Pom - yes, showers can be quiet places of contemplation, can't they! and cars - I notice similar random things when sitting in my car sometimes! Your snowy porch looks quiet and ready and I am imagining myself sitting out there pretending to be a snowman. I have found a second hand copy of the Gladys Taber book you have been posting about - it should come next week. Betty x

Oh, I love Birdie's very own routine! I think that is too precious for words. Little pink ballerinas! I hope there is some quiet Pom Pom time coming up this weekend. We are at 18 degrees this morning and it is too cold for me. But we have no snow, as I see that you do. Keep warm and cozy! xo Kari

Now dear Pom Pom whereabouts in my adorable country is the love of your life? It's so funny to think of him being all the way over here, on my side of the planet! I do hope he has nice weather wherever he is. Have a lovely weekend!

I love that you say buggy! I will have to find some cherry pie for you. That way you don't have to get it yourself! :) I wish I were in New Zealand. :) The fun tomorrow will make you smile I know it! I can't wait. :) So great! I hope I can get out and see some stuff though. I don't want to be trapped with tons of dogs forever! :)
See you soon! :)

Today is the 39th anniversary of our pinning in college.....we usually celebrate that more than V-day. I hope you have some good down time this weekend. Elijah and I are making sugar heart cookies today while Mark is in class. Then a baby shower, dinner and a basketball game. Enjoy your quiet if you get some. Orchids are blooming in my house reminding me that spring is coming and I have a yellow begonia blooming that reminds me a Grandma Berentson who loved begonias. In Ethiopia, it will be different.
