Good September Earth

Last year, Carolyn at Love Stitching Red featured an intriguing Norwegian painter, Kristin Vestgard. I found her soft colors and fine lines enchanting so I drew this tree-head girl. I wanted to look at her again today. I am crazy about September and this is my September woman. The trees are still full of green leaves here, but the cool air of morning is blowing. I have the butterfly wing shawl around my shoulders and my fuzzy Norwegian slippers warming my flip flop feet. The breeze rushing through the window smells clean. Isn't September sweet? She is so hospitable.

Candles are so fitting in the fall. Don't you love the smell when you strike a match? If a fire in the fireplace isn't practical, a candle is a great substitute. Candles are a simple joy, I think.

This big puffy cloud was pink for a few moments just Monday evening. The night time sky changes so quickly. We've decided it is time to put the flannel sheets back on our bed. I'm craving the scent of warm apple cider, buttered popcorn, smoky night air. I hear the crickets. Time to read The Cricket in Times Square, I think.

I discovered that affirmation means "to make firm" and I hope you experience a little affirmation today and will feel a bit more firm as you go about your day, giving away your good life.

you know sometimes i spend so much time mourning summer's passing that i don't really pay any attention to the beauty of September . . . and it is a beautiful month of soft transitions into a new and vibrant season.

you always manage to give me a healthy dose of perspective Pom Pom. THANK YOU.

September is my favorite month. I was born in September (sandwiched by my dad the day before, my daughter the day after making it extra, extra special). It is fitting that it always feels like a fresh start and a new beginning for me.
Blessings,
Leslie

I'm going to put a picture on facebook for you. It's the plate I put up in the kitchen yesterday- I made it three years ago at one of those paint me, glaze and fire me places. It's supposed to be a melange of Picasso and the Green Man! Seasonal thoughts...

That was a very nice, warm and happy feeling I got reading your post. And I was drinking hot cocoa at the time! Now the day has heated up...but I'm ready for the fall. Thank God for the seasons.

I love your drawing. I love A Cricket in Times Square. Just tonight I was trying to think of just the right book to read to Will. That might be it. Have you ever read I Go by Sea, I Go by Land by P.L. Travers?

I love September, too, for its promise of fall. Here in NC, you don't really get a good start on fall until mid-October. Flannel sheets--lovely!

Your photo of clouds reminded me of how beautiful the sky is in Colorado; blue, blue sky and huge, white, fluffy clouds.

I love September, too. It's cooling down a little bit here. What I don't like about this month is the beginning of hurricane season. We're only an hour from the coast, so we have to be watchful.

I always love seeing your drawings! September truly is a beautiful month. It's one of my favorites. Enjoy your flannel sheets (too hot here yet for them), warm apple cider and buttered popcorn!

Blessings!

Dear Pom Pom, just a note to say sorry that I'm such a bad blogger. I always enjoy your comments so much and feel bad I haven't been to visit....I'm playing catch up tonight, all the babies are asleep and I'm listening to the rain belting the roof tops. Nice to catch up on your days. xxxx

You take the best sky photos, Pom! Your September day sounds lovely. We've had a little relief from the heat here, but it's still not anywhere near time for the flannel sheets yet -- soon I hope!
Blessings,
G

I really like your tree head girl. You're a good artist! I love September too. I put on a sweatshirt in the morning, wear a T-shirt and shorts in the afternoon, and slip the sweatshirt on again in evening. I like how cool and crisp September is. I'm hearing the crickets too and I wondered if anyone else was. My kids loved Cricket in Times Square.

I bought decaf Chai tea for fall evening sipping.

Merry September, Pom Pom!

I love your tree-head girl! I have thought about you so much, especially since school started. I remember that no matter how much I rested before school, by the end of that first week I always felt an absolute exhaustion, as if I had had no rest at all! I, too, used to feel that I would miss fall, my favorite season, but how right you are about the weekends. I meant to get a post out September first, but I came down with the flu. My husband and I got under the house and breathed in a ton of dust and we both got sick. I hope to be better very soon, and then I will post an update on my blog. Meanwhile, one day at a time, one day at a time, one day at a time, dear dear friend!! xo Kari
