Hopscotch

Hello. I hope you have had a happy week. My week of testing at school is almost over. I'm so proud of the kids. They are working VERY hard and remaining blissfully quiet.

The other day, I walked about the neighborhood and I came upon this hopscotch game. It reminded me of all the hopscotch I played when I was a sturdy little short-haired girl. We used ring sized plastic hoops for markers. I do not know where I got MY markers. I think other hopscotch pals shared them with me. The fun feature of the game was striving for perfection. Throw the ring markers JUST right. Hop along on one foot, then two. Don't touch the lines. Don't fall over. Now THAT was fun! I must admire this hopscotch artist for her lofty numbering!

News Flash! As I was rounding the corner, almost home the other day, I came upon one of those generous signs taped to . . . my school room granny chair! Free. Needs TLC. The give away neighbors had JUST put it out on the curb. When I lifted it up to put it in my car, it came apart but now it is back together and up in my classroom looking all loving and cushy. Do you like it?

I dressed it in a pretty comforter and pillow we had on hand and now it is my "big hug" of a perch when I am at my computer. Next - a high bar stool to position at the front of the room.

In one week we'll be on the plane heading to Australia so I have to go into school this weekend (something I try NOT to do) and get all the sub plans ready. There are many days to enjoy before that so I must eat myself a few more chocolate bunnies, stuff some practical clothes in my backpack, whet the students' appetites for heroes and their crazy catastrophes, and breathe some more of this good Colorado air. I have a little bit of pink ready for Pink Saturday and some ideas brewing for A Pause in Lent. Thank you for coming by to see me.

I wanted to show you my new glasses. I tried to LOOK like I was thinking deep thoughts, but with my lack of lipstick and my "I did it myself" bang cutting . . . well, just know that I'm thinking about YOU!

I'm so glad your week is going well! Your "new" chair looks so inviting. I would gladly curl up in it with a good book.

Your bangs look great! You've never seen me cut my bangs. Scary stuff. Perhaps that's why I gave up trying to have bangs :o).

Looking forward to reading about your Australian adventures. Have a great few days yet!

Blessings and hugs!

OMGosh! That chair is just as I described it would be...do you remember? Altho, I didn't think you'd have to put it back together...all the better tho! Thanks for the HopScotch memory...hadn't thought about that in so very long...good to know that some kids are still playing that simple counting game. Altho, it could have been a kid our age!

What a sweet chair, looks very comfy.
It's years since we were in Sydney where my son lives, but I remember the buzz there is in NSW, a wonderful place. I wonder where you will be going?

How did your neighbors know exactly what you needed? I'm glad you found that nice cushy chair.

Hopscotch: I played it as a ponytailed girl, but we played it with rocks as markers.

I like your bangs very much and your glasses too. Are they for everyday or just for reading?

You are all so dear and sweet. I continue to enjoy the cushy chair! It's soft and happy! I am going to Sydney and the surrounding area. I hope to take my little computer. We'll see how the packing goes. I must tell you that I bought a tube of VERY red lipstick today and I bought it where I almost always buy makeup - the grocery store. Thank you for all your warm comments.
