The winds here have been mighty and amazing! We don't have snow so we cannot jump in our sleighs with our friends and glide through the drifts.
Have you made candy and cookies? Do you have candy canes on your tree?
I made a hat for my dear friend Sondra! I have two pair of socks that are almost off the needles. I really want to snuggle into my hobbit hole and knit, knit, knit.
Kelli and the girls and another friend and her daughter went to the castle at Glen Eyrie where the Navigators headquarters lives. We had tea in the castle. The most interesting feature of the tea experience was the green tea/green pea soup! It was very tasty. The tea tray offerings were different, too. No cookies, just funky little tarts and other bite size somethings.
My friend Kim taught me how to make candles and told me where to get the supplies. I made soap and candles for my Bible study friends. They were a bit messy but next time I will do better!
Yesterday some of us in our Bible study met together at my favorite chapel and read and sang together. It was very cold in the chapel but our raised voices of song and words of scripture were lovely! What a sweet Advent blessing!
I am rich in lemons. My sweet comrade sent me lovely California fruit!
Yesterday I did not feel as festive as I would like, but today I do. I think I will buy some branches at the grocery store this morning, give them a fresh clip and place them around the house. Yesterday I put fresh rosemary, a lemon, and vanilla in a pan and brought them to a simmer. It smelled very sweet. I must bake cookies for my book group tonight. I will put chocolate chip cookie dough in small muffin tins and when they come out of the oven I will place a small Reese's Peanut Butter cup in the middle of each one. I have made sugar cookies once and I'll make them again before Christmas Eve. And here is the bird gumdrop tree. You can buy gumdrop trees with more branches and gumdrops do look like sugar plums when they are on a tree.
I am waiting for my new pink eyeglasses to come. They are taking forever!
Thank you for checking on me! Big HUG!

I'm walking down to the creek today to forage some redwood branches and berries and such to decorate with. I might keep them in the garage until my family arrives and let them all help decide where and how to use them.
Good for you on the candles and soap, PomPom!! I am trying not to start any new projects, but I did revive an old tradition in baking our family's favorite fruitcake in a gluten-free version.
The other ancient tradition I am trying to keep up with is housecleaning! I have a chunk of that to do before my guests arrive! And wrapping gifts, and grocery shopping...
Merry Christmas, Dear!!! <3
I don't have candy canes hanging on my tree but I have been baking cookies and making lots of fudge! My son baked a wonderful sponge cake and now I want his recipe so I can make one too. He's a better baker than I am.
Please post a picture of yourself once you get your new pink glasses!! Have a wonderful Christmas 💖💖💖
Good morning, PomPom! Well, Glen Eyrie -- I went there in high school, the last time I was "out west." Beautiful place. My daddy traveled for his job.
I have done a little baking, not much. But I've bought a LOT of chocolate, haha! Adam is in the kitchen making royal icing to take to school for the kids to decorate with.
Did you know that you can freeze lemons? You seem to have a lot. If you freeze them, the cell membrane walls break down, and they become VERY juicy when they thaw out. A good way to keep them if you want fresh lemon juice later.
I'm also knitting a lot, making a Wacky Sweater out of all my old spare yarn balls. Very colorful!
Merry Christmas!
No candy canes hanging on the tree, didn't make candy but did make cookies!!
have a few knitting projects going at the moment. Yesterday someone asked me if I would knit then mittens so that's another project. :)
Soap and candles, I've never made them but would like to one of these days.
I enjoyed your 'Festive Stuff' post.
I managed to wrap the last of the Christmas presents today, of course I rewarded myself with a nice cup of tea :)
Sending good wishes for the season.
All the best Jan
You've been a busy little elf! Yes, I have peppermint candy canes on my tree this year. I love your knitted hat. Great colour too. Not so many presents to wrap this year. Some of my crew went to New York last week so I gave them Xmas money to spend! The Jellycat Diner place did very well out of them!!xxx
It sounds like life is good for you. And joyful and festive. I'm so behind this year, stressed and not able to do all I want. It will get done. It always does. And then rest.
I can almost get a hint of that aroma coming from your simmering pot of herbs, etc. You have been busy with festive things. A very Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Pom Pom your posts always make me happy, and this one makes me feel like Christmas. I would love to clip out all your post and make a little book. It would be so uplifting to read every day. Your gumdrop tree is so cute. I want one. I did see one in a catalog somewhere and meant to order it but forgot. :( Merry Christmas to you and all your sweet family!
I do have candy canes hanging on one of my trees. I am behind this year. Still have to make some candy, wrap some presents and pick up a couple of gift cards. Life is different but good here. That being said- I need to get up, move the pups off my legs/feet and get on with my day.
Merry Christmas and love to you- Diana
