Yay for the first of December π It's cheerful around here with lots of red and white. Do you change your mind regarding Christmas decorations from year to year?
We had a yummy Thanksgiving meal. Kelli made the gravy and it was perfect. Soph's husband carved the turkey and helped serve pie.
I have been tired for five days. Today after an eye appointment (new glasses - pink!) I came home and had leftover turkey for lunch and ice cream for dessert. I think I'll make mac and cheese for dinner. I was watching a YouTube vlog and the vlogger mentioned that thing in Norway (and probably Sweden) when you make 8 kinds of cookies (or is it 7 kinds?) and I thought that sounded like a nice idea. I need more organic flour though. I did what Granny Marigold suggested and took my French bread dough out of the bread maker before it baked. It was very moist and floppy but it was very tasty, so that's what I will do from now on. Anyway, will you make 8 kinds of Christmas cookies?
This is my hot water bottle holder. It's very nice and warming.
I found my red checked garage curtains in my Christmas boxes. They are very faded on the side that faced the sun but the other side looks good so I hung them around the house. I like to use tension rods and put curtains everywhere. It seems very forest-y to me, cozy.
More Christmas curtains and a quilt for a tablecloth!
I moved the weird yellow rocking chair into the kitchen. Do you have a chair in your kitchen?
On Small Business Saturday I HAD to go to the yarn store because I don't want them to EVER close their doors. I might make a yellow hat so I can wear sunshine on my head.
Last night Jeff's family came for Advent. We sang and read scripture. Prayed. It was good. I did pull out my Advent books today and I might read them tonight if I can keep my eyes openπ΅
I ordered gumdrops for my gumdrop tree. Last year I neglected to put the drops on the tree. I am not buying lots of poinsettias this year. I was going to, because I always do, but I don't want them after Christmas, so it seems wasteful. This December I want to think about how glad I am that I believe in Jesus, the Savior of the world. I can't imagine life without Him.
I hope your December is off to a peaceful start.
Thank you for popping in!

I've always liked the colours red and green for Christmas!
A red Poinsettia (or two) usually finds it's way, first in the shopping trolley, and second in the house! There are lots for sale in our shops and garden centers.
Have a happy December.
All the best Jan
Hello Dear PomPom, I'm always glad to see that you've posted on your blog. I love the red that you use in your kitchen and eating area. Red is such a cheery colour.
I'm happy that the breadmaker dough 'trick' works well for you. I won't be making 8 kinds of cookies but I will make 2 kinds of fudge and also shortbread cookies. Oh yes, and Butter Tarts.
Have a lovely Advent
My, what a fun-filled post. I love red and white check and I love all your Christmas decorations especially the quilt on the table that is gorgeous. Also your Advent celebration sounded lovely, wish I'd have been there.
We have a God that loves us so much that He sent His only Son to come to earth for the purpose of saving us from the punishment and judgment of sin. He paid the price for us, hallelujah, what a wonderful Savior we have!
God bless you.
You're blogging sister,
Connie :)
All very Christmassy. But the last picture confused me. I thought he had three legs till i worked out it must be a throw on the seat behind him!
Things are looking quite festive at your place, Pom Pom! Love the red checked fabric. I do not have room in my kitchen for a chair. I am a little behind with Christmas decor but that should be remedied soon. Jesus is the best gift and my appreciation of Him grows deeper every year. May many believe and grow this new season.
Red and white makes everywhere look so Christmassy!
I'm with you on the Poinsettia! None for me this year. I love your Xmas colour scheme. I have a red and white gingham blind on the window in my dining area. I leave it up all year round cause it's so cheery!Your house is so cosy and inviting. Xx
I like your red curtains, your house looks cheery, I think the yellow chair says happy and sunshine and that with a soft cushion your little cat would use it. We have fairy lights up - far too many! two small trees which I am leaving for my son and his girlfriend to decorate as they will enjoy, a lot of rechargeable tea lights as they have a programmer and turn themselves off at bed time. We are doing secret santa small gifts this year so as not to waste money on things nobody needs/wants. The only thing I don't have is a nativity, I have yet to see one I like, maybe this year? Ponsettias are pretty but like you, I don't want them in New Year so I just get green pine, holly and ivy in from the woods. Never made even 1 kind of cookie, will be interested to see how yours go - I think gingerbread with chocolate chips would be nice - I just made it up but it sounds tasty. I think the lead up to Christmas is as enjoyable as the day itself. Betty
Hello, PomPom! And Happy Advent! I wish I had a chair in my kitchen. We have a small galley kitchen that is basically the hallway from the backdoor, into the house. No room for a chair at all. I'd love a huge square kitchen with a woodburning stove and an Aga cooker, and room for a short couch and a comfy armchair. SIGH! Your curtains are pretty!
Your house must be the coziest Christmasy spot ever <3 I especially love that quilt tablecloth -- and the thought of a gumdrop tree makes my mouth water. I don't remember seeing your gumdrop tree -- will you post a picture of it? Does it not attract ants?
I sort of have a chair in my kitchen because the kitchen and family room are contiguous. But the cozy chair I like to have closer to the wood stove if possible! It's not often possible because the dining table is close by as well and I run out of space....
A blessed Advent, PomPom!
Sounds like you need some rest. π«π«π«π«π«π«ππππ
