A Little Little Women Plan

Hello and happy almost Thanksgiving in the USA.  I bought our fat turkey days ago and it is thawing in the fridge.  My biggest worry this year is the stuffing.  Here's why - I don't really like stuffing so it's hard for me to taste test. I'm giving Christie's mom's recipe a try. She puts apples, onions, celery in with the bread cubes and uses a lot of chicken broth to moisten.  I'll let you know how it turns out.  I'll use the electric turkey roaster again.  First, I'll brown the bird in the oven, so it isn't pale.  I still need to run to the store for sage and cranberries.  Last year the grocery store was sort of a dry and sad spot.  It was as if the powers that be (big corporate bosses) didn't TRY to bring good cheer in the grocery store.  They didn't even decorate outside. This year is improved, but I think some of the decision makers are very afraid of offending some people, so they end up offending everyone.  Know what I mean?  It's grim. Remember when I was teaching and I felt the oppressive "no no no" concerning Christmas?  That was sad, too.  But... sad NO MORE!  I have so many fun December plans.

Did I show you my sticky birds?  I ordered them from Etsy. I absolutely love sticking things on our walls. I printed the framed birds off of the web.

I have lots of Advent materials.  I have a sweet journal with an old winter scene on the front.  I have Ruth Chou Simon's Advent book. I have our son Brad's Advent devotional. I have even more and I want to work with all of them.  But, I also want to have a Little Women Advent.  Right now I'm listening to the soundtrack of the most recent film and it's lovely just like the Little Women before it.  I ordered a Little Women cookbook, a Little Women knitting book, and a cute new copy of the novel.  Does it sound fun?

I've been praying for focus and I think the Little Women theme will be fun, sweet, innocent and playful.  I'll be free from some of my responsibilities soon, so I can dabble in the March sisters' world and enjoy thinking about Marmee and Orchard House.

How are YOU?  Do you have any specific holiday plans?  Are you up and excited or dragging your feet?  Thank you for stopping in,  Sweetie Pie.

I'm impressed with all your advent plans. It sounds exciting.
I love your beautiful sticky birds. They look very cheery. I do miss our songbirds in the winter.

I love turkey dressing. I also made dressing with apples. I have several recipes but lately, I made a substitute for Stove Top from a recipe I found online. Good luck with the turkey dressing. I'm sure it will taste wonderful.

Happy Thanksgiving.
Hugs,
Julia

Hi Karen!
I decided to pop on over to see what you're up to, and it looks like you've got some lovely plans. Your birds remind me of all the songbirds that are mostly gone now, but we do have a few who have stayed: chickadees, downy woodpecker, goldfinches (in their gray tweeds now) and we spotted a purple finch at our feeders. Not sure he will stay, but.....
Since you are planning a Little Women theme for Advent, I wonder if you have seen the youtube channel, Little Women Atelier? I've only watched a very few of their videos, but you may find them charming as I did. Here's a link to a Christmassy video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqg7GEqSSIg

Happy Thanksgiving dear! ~Jody

Happy Thanksgiving Karen!!! Well I love those bird stickers and prints :) you can never have too many of those. Your Thanksgiving arrangements sound fun, homely and welcoming. I know what you mean about the way some of our special and/or religious events are being toned down to 'avoid offence' it happens here too. We decided to wait until the week before Christmas to put up our lights and tree but we have started thinking about food and putting a few nice things away to spread the cost. My oldest brother will be staying in December, I haven't seen him for 4 years so beyond excited!. Betty x

I hope my comment was published. I got that silly pop-up again, the one that says Oops! An error has occurred. I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Hello Sweet Lady. It's good to hear from you via your post and I think a recent blog comment. My brain has not functioned up to par since Dear's stroke but it's getting better everyday as is Dear. A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

That will be a fun theme. I have COVID so Thanksgiving will be a little low key this year.

I love your stick on birds! They're really cute.

I have no Advent plans, I'm afraid. I should do. But I haven't started thinking about Christmas so I need to focus on that (wrong way round, I know!)

Happy Day-After-Thanksgiving! It sounds like a lovely meal at your home :) I'm in a happy mood this year. Yesterday was warm and gorgeous -- a perfect Southern Thanksgiving Day. Today is bucketing rain. I'm in my studio with some yarn, I think.
We had our Community Thanksgiving Dinner at our church yesterday -- 34 people there this year! It was fabulous, fun, and great fellowship. And a groaning table of pies! I love this big meal more each year we do it.

How nice and I do hope your stuffing turned out. I made it too and I will throw it out tonight. I think it was a flop.
I like your idea of a Little Women advent. It sounds cozy too.
Your birds are so cute and so are you. :)

I love your bird wall!!!
I know the, "No, no!" thing at Christmas. I always get grief from folks of another big religion at this time of year about how they don't want their kids going to the church to sing. It always makes me sad as the kids enjoy it and they are made to think it's bad for them. Kx
