Look at this beeeyooootiful wool I ordered from Little Knits. I love Fleece Artist. They are based in Nova Scotia. Oh, I really LIKE THAT!
My blog friend Kim from New Zealand is an amazing quilter (and artist) and she blogged about using scrapbook paper on walls. So instead of wrestling with picking off the old borders, I glued on lots of papers from a stack I had. I like it.
I tried to make plum jam. I put in too much pectin and the jam turned out like crazy glue. Last time I tried it was soupy. My blog friend Annie gave me excellent instructions, I just didn't do the proportions properly. At least now I have a feel for it and I think I could do it right next time. Live and learn, Granny.
Soon my mom and sisters come for a sweet almost week long visit. I can't wait! It will be so fun to be together, visiting and tootling around Colorado, too.
God be with you. Thank you for popping in today!

I've always had inconsistent results with jam. But, usually they were fairly edible if you weren't too picky, lol. Have a nice visit with your family! I'm looking forward to taking a trip down to Texas in mid-September to visit my son and step-dad. Hugs to you!
Hi Pompom, I can't believe I'm the first one to comment on your blog, (or maybe not).
You are always so smart with writing your journal, I'm sure you will be good with the planner for 2019-20. Maybe Timothy wants to help you plan to make time for him...
Oh my, that wool looks so soft and beautiful. Mineville Nova Scotia is only a little over
4-hour drive from here.
I love the sprucing up you are doing in your house. The colors are pleasing and so is your teapot collection. The new border also goes well with the teapots. Always lots of colors in your world.
Enjoy the rest of the summer.
Hugs, Julia
I like the shelves you put up.
Great yarn colors and it looks so soft!
Have a great time with your mom and sister!
Plum jam sounds delicious! Your yarn is lovely. Wonder what you'll make with it? Have fun with the fam!
Great idea you had, sticking scrapbook paper over the old border.
I was given some plums that look just like the ones you had. I made jam and it tasted just like jam my mom used to make.
Have a wonderful visit with your mom and sisters!!!
Your new wool looks gorgeous dear Pom Pom - loving your new shelf & your scrap booking border. Thats a great idea I might have to borrow. xx
Wow, you have been busy and it all looks lovely. Enjoy your family time. x
Agreeing with you about the jam. If it ends up too thick to spread on bread , I designate it "cooking jam". When I want some to top a pudding/fill a cake/etc, I spoon some from the jar into a Jug, add a splash of boiling water and whisk furiously. Nothing gets wasted round here! Your borders are great - like victorian tiles around the top of the walls.
I've made jam like that too! Now I just add apple juice instead of pectin and it works well.
I was just going to post the same tip as Angela just gave you. You can add a little boiling water to the top of the jam in the jar and give it a stir to make it more pliable. It's a pity you can't get the jam sugar that I use here which already has the pectin added to it. Always great results with it but I'm sure your jam tastes great anyway. Good effort. I love your little kitchen shelves. Is there a window behind the little curtain, the colour of which goes really well with the beautiful print above it. I wallpapered my hall wall from a book of very expensive samples which my boss was chucking out. I love the patchwork effect. Great job on yours and I also love your teapots! Lovely yarn too.xx
I keep trying to comment but it gets sent back to me, saying it is blocked. Sigh.
You always have such fun pictures. Everything looks wonderful. I love that yarn. I love those colors. Such fun things to see at your house.
So many homey and creative, productive things going on in your world, and because of you :-)
The scrapbook paper is a great idea. Also, I would probably like the kind of jam that comes out too thick! Plum jam is the best.
Wool from Nova Scotia just has to be good! So pretty. I like your idea for wall paper border. Who would have thought of that? Not me. Plum jam is my FAVORITE kind. I know what you mean about hard jam. I've had my failures too. I like Grandma Moses too. Have a good time with your sisters and mom What fun!
I love your paper border! Very nice. I gave up on jam years ago, I am really horrible at it...lol Have a wonderful visit! Kit
Love the sprucing up you have been having fun with. LOVE the paper border. It looks so happy and cheery.....sweet teapots, too. That wool looks lovely and soft and cosy. Enjoy the best time with your mum and sisters.
OH my goodness, Grandma Moses! My older sister Mary once wrote her a letter and received a reply. She keeps that . h shared the same birthday. Her art was something amazing. I love all your shares here. One the scraping paper, so clever. Love it. Thank you for being a blog friend. Enjoy visiting you and love when you stop by. HUGS
❤️
Love the new touches you are adding to your home. I chuckled when I read about your plum jam, it sounds like what happens when I attempt jam. Enjoy your visit with your mom and sisters!
I think your scrapbook paper border is lovely. It does look quilty and gives off a cozy feel. I know you're looking forward to your sisters and mom's visit, have fun!
I love the spruce ups! And that yarn is yummy. Have fun with your family.
I have had health problems but am getting around to blogging and commenting again. That scrapbook border is so neat! We have that same Grandma Moses print hanging on our kitchen wall. I really like it. Nancy
I'm trying to get back to reading blogs! yay!!! How fun is that -- using scrapbook paper on the walls?! It looks terrific!
Such a nice post, lovely seeing all of your photographs.
Have a wonderful time with your mom and sisters.
All the best Jan
Hi, Pom Pom. It really is a blessing to call here on your virtual porch after long absences from Blogland and be instantly refreshed after the journey back by your colour and joy and heart! I went out to our many rampant brambles this morning to cut sprigs of blackberries to put in a jar with flowers. It struck me that tomorrow I should cut some to put some in my porridge...
