Talking

I finished the purple cotton tank top last week!  Woo hoo!  Sorry for the awkward photo with Tim sneaking in.
He's everywhere!

Miss Bug says that these cuties are my "great" grandchildren.  Lol!
I bought some mini-dafs at Home Depot.  They were on clearance and they are weary now but the day I took this picture they were glorious!
My mom and I were talking about talking and she said that she thinks of things she wants to talk about with her friends (interesting topics) but they don't seem to end up talking about any of the things she had been thinking about.  Sometimes I think I let other people do all the talking because I'm nervous or maybe feeling shy, but I think if we are asked the right questions, we are more likely to share.  Anywho, when my friend pulled out this set of cards that she discovered when she was working with special needs kids (a colleague would always use them to draw the kids out of their shells) I had to take photos of them. As simple as they seem, I think asking questions like this could really deepen our relationships and cause our peeps to feel believed in.  What do you think?

That day I had worn one of my Raggedy Ann homemade outfits and I came home very cold, so I changed into this wool sweater.  I used to think wool was so scratchy and irritating, but lately wool makes me feel snug.
I'm trying to win some fancy needles from Knitter's Pride, so I entered this photo of Tim helping with my Norwegian mittens. I hope we win.
 James got some Mario slippers.
Jeff and Christie gave us some new knives!  We needed them.  I don't know why I have always used my old "make do" knives.  These knives are sharp.
Yesterday Kelli and Bryan got trapped in Colorado Springs due to a rear-ender (Oh no!  Their new Honda!) so I went to pick up the girls from their Friday school.  They were happy to see me and we zipped through a drive thru so they could have milkshakes.  Millie said she had already eaten QUITE a bit of chocolate during the school day!  LOL!

This morning as Noah was napping in my arms, Tim hung around trying to send messages like, "That's MY lap!" and "I like it when the little humans leave!"  He likes them at a safe distance, but he IS the prince of the house after all.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Brad is bagpiping all day.  We are eating Chinese food for dinner.  I really should have thought ahead and made stew.  I am staying away from Irish soda bread.  I love it way too much.
At Weight Watchers I lose about a pound a week.  It's slow going for this granny, but that's okay.  I am not starving by any means.
Thank you for popping in. God be with you, friend.

Good Morning my friend! I love Tim photobombing your picture of your new tank top! When I did W.W. & lost my weight slowly the counsellor told me that this is the best way as often when it comes off really quickly, it can come back on again just as quickly! I hope you win the competition ... that is a great photo of Tim with your mittens :-) I have my youngest grandson Sid all day on a Thursday now .... when he arrives I see Miss Pippi look at me out the corner of her eye as if to say "Oh thats right!! Its Thursday AGAIN!!"

I saw those knives when I was shopping last week and I'm really mad I didn't get them. I love the colors -- easy to see in the drawer and I could use some new ones.

Love the top -- congratulations on the finish. And love Tim, too!

How fortunate that you were available to pick the girls up when their parents were delayed. ( Too bad about their car though). You're a sweet grandma to buy them milkshakes!
Your new knives are very pretty!!

Great close up of Tim!!
Those are some good questions to get people talking. As for me I don't need any help with that! : )
Losing a pound or two a week is the way to go. Otherwise you would probably just gain it back.

I never plan what to chat about with friends, they always lead the conversation, I'm a listener, i think you learn more that way! I got your letter, thank you so much, i have been unwell and it really cheered me up :) hope you win the knitting prize. We have snow again, lots of it!

Your purple knitted top looks beautiful but Timothy wants his picture taken instead. lol.He knows he's got followers..
I love daffodils and I can't wait till mine blooms but they are still under a lot of snow and it turned out cold today.
Those cards are great tools to make us think. With some people, it's difficult to get a word in edgewise.

I love wool too, some are softer than others but that green sweater looks soft and just the right color for St Patrick Dad. I hope you win those needles since you do a lot of knitting.
Hugs, Julia

Those great grandbabies look like no trouble at all. Love the daffodils this time of year. Mine are still under the frozen snow-covered ground.
The cards are a great tool to make us think what questions to ask. Sometimes, it's hard to get a word in edgewise with some people who are big talkers.

Just the right green sweater for St Patrick Day. It looks like it's made of soft wool.
I hope that you win those needles since you are such a prolific knitter.
Happy St Patrick Day.
Hugs, Julia

I like your purple sweater and I like really how thin you are looking. Great job! A pound a week is awesome.
I like cards like that. I use them when we have strangers here that we don't know very well during dinner. It helps people get to know one another. How terrible to be hit. I am glad you were able to go pick up the girls.
I love wool. I also love your mittens. My cats are the same way when people come over. They are always so happy to see them go. :) Have a lovely Sunday.

Oh my, a pound a week is great. You are doing great. I planted some of those mini dafs a few years ago after they died and they come up and surprise me every year...so sweet.
I want to learn to ask better questions. You know Jesus always knew what questions to ask and he used questions a lot so I think we can learn from that. It's so nice that you are close to your kids and grands and can come to the rescue!
Hope your weekend is going well!

I like the purple sweater. You are one busy lady, but the grands keep you young. I think Timmy thinks he is a human. LOL He wants all your attention.

The cards are great.

Have a wonderful Sunday and next week.

Hugs,
Mary

The sweater looks great on you! Great color, and it looks like it fits well too. So glad you can be there to help out with the grand kids. That's so good for everyone. I hope you win your needles - you deserve them! You are a truly devoted knitter. As for those neat signs - I think the first one would really prompt conversation: What do you really want? We could all ruminate on that.

When I find myself listening to myself, I begin talking to myself. Today, Pastor said, "When we say it, the ears heart it and the heart believes it." I intend to be more careful of what I say to myself and others.
Tim reminds me of Kit Carson, one of my boys. Both beautiful and proud.

I remember as a teen, planning conversations ahead of time because I was so shy I wasn't sure I could think of anything to talk about. The conversation never went as I planned (of course) but I did learn it's okay to have awkward silences now and then. I think I gravitate toward talkative types so they can fill in the gaps. :) But once I get going it can be hard to stop me! Especially on topics of particular interest, lol.

Congrats on finishing the top! And I hope you win the knitting contest!

Good job on the Weight Watchers! :)

You look SO cute in your knitted tank top! Beautiful. I'm always amazed, and those mittens too! I love it that your grandgirls told you that their babies are your great grandchildren! That is exactly how three of my granddaughters feel about their babies. One time I said something to B. like, "You better pick up your dolls," and she retorted, "Grammy, those are my CHILDREN!" Ooops! So funny.

Hooray for new knives and hooray for losing a pound a week at Weight Watchers! That's awesome! You look beautiful.

P.S. On talking....oh how I agree that it would be nice to talk about things that really mean something to us. Like "What do you really want?" That's a good question.

I'm not a big talker and I find that my friends always dominate and steer the conversations and that's ok with me. Milkshakes after school is a lovely idea. I used to do that with my kids when they were little. ♥

I bet those girls were tickled to see you, and they got milkshakes! You are such a good grandma. You did good on the tank top. Timothy and Dumperoo must be kin. Honestly, Dumper is always under my feet, waiting for me to sit down so he can be first in my lap. My husband says, "I don't know how you stand it"! Sweet Dumperoo. They just love us, don't they? Enjoyed this post.

I guess I do plan some conversations but mainly play them back after the event. Oh the cards are good, the school probably used those in my sons speaking and listening group, many yrs ago. He still doesn't speak much. I think he'd feel quite uncomfortable now if people used those questions witb him. He's 15 now.
Love how Tim likes to be in on the action, even peeping out the curtain. Hope his photo helps you win the competition. Cathy x

I LOVE the way Tim pops up in so many places. He is letting you know that he is a very big part of your life! Enjoy these early days of spring!

I can't believe how much the kids have grown. Too bad about the Honda. Front Range traffic is a nightmare. Love the photos of Timmy. He reminds me of our little Jasmine. She was a sweetheart of a kitty. We should go the Botanical Gardens to see the spring flowers.
