Lots of Commotion and a Finish for the Weekend!

I finished a knitting project!  Yay!  I found a cute new blog (to me) called Emerald Cottage.  Jill started a new little bloggy game called Finish for the Weekend, so I decided to join in.  Plum's cardi will be ready for her birthday and she can wear it with her pink cupcake dress.

In this photo I did some weeding with the marking tool.  I love the bright sprinkler and the paddle pool full of beachy balls.
The sky is so September blue!  I walked around the corner to have coffee with a friend and when I came back I had to take some photos of the amazing day we had today!

I started this week with a mammoth moving job.  We had to completely move out of our bedroom and bathroom so the remodelers could do their work.  Yikes.  I am out of shape for moving.  I found so many dust bunnies of unusual size.  I can't believe how lazy I can be. I need to re-read Side-tracked Home Executives
Tim's been somewhat traumatized by all the demolition noise so he just wants to cuddle.
I made a bird bath out of a chipped bowl.  So far, no birds have been seen swimming in it.
They don't seem to like the make shift bird bath below either.

Poor Tim!  To add insult to injury he had to go to the vet for his yearly shots.  He yowled at first but then quieted down and endured.  The vet office is so kind.  They were very welcoming and gave him lots of compliments (perfect weight, nice teeth, soft coat).

We're sleeping in the garden level guest room while our bedroom is being transformed.  I kind of like sleeping in a full size bed (instead of our queen sized bed) and Bill and I don't bump each other or take up more than our fair share of the bed like I thought we might.  It's cozy.  Tim likes the window.  I think all the dirt blowing in from the flower bed at the window is making me quite headache-y, but the cool air feels good.
Aren't the zinnias gorgeous?  Do you see the one rose that managed to survive the Japanese beetle invasion?

My rhubarb plant is thriving!  Next year I shall have rhubarb pie, rhubarb sauce, and rhubarb cobbler!
Here is a photo of the amazing tile team that made our bathroom look lovely and new!  What an incredible group.  We loved having them here.  Now the carpenter will come and put the bead board on the walls, patch the sheetrock and put in a pocket door between the bedroom and the bathroom.  Oh, and finally after one hundred years or so we will have closet doors!  Ha!  We decided to order a new bed frame from Target because our log bed is so big.  I have a history of buying big furniture, forgetting that we live in a little house.  Our Kelli wants the log bed so that makes us happy.  We will wait to buy a new box spring and mattress.  They are expensive and I don't want to make the same mistake I made with our current mattress ("We'll just take the mattress that's in it now.") That was very dumb.  It's been hard since day one.  We put a foam pad on it, but we want a soft dreamy bed, so we'll save our pennies again.

I went to Bible Study Fellowship with Kelli this last week and LOVED it.  I also went to our church's study and I liked that, too! I had to skip book club because of all the construction commotion.
Plum and Noah have birthdays next week and I'm going to stay at Kelli's with the girls next weekend while Kelli and Bryan go to Texas for a party.
We have our dear Australian friend coming for a few days, too.  FUN!
So September is very busy but busy in the very best way.  People busy.
Thank you, nice person, for popping in at my place today!  xoxoxo

Nice job on the pink sweater! I'm impressed!! Your flowers are all so pretty. I have an idea about your bird bath -- it's a little deep. Birds want something shallow that they can stand in. You could use a clay saucer from a terra cotta pot.

So happy you are getting a little bathroom/bedroom remodel. Your workers look happy to be working for you. God bless you, Friend.

I want a new mattress so badly. Ugh, our mattress is awful. I feel like I've been punched all night when I get up in the morning! How exciting to be having the renovations done. I know it's hard right now, but just stay focused on the beautiful updates you'll have when it's all done. I hope your weather is feeling fallish up there. Today is our first really nice slightly fallish day so far, and I'm loving it. Take care and have a good weekend!

It seems that you are busy this week. Remodelling is always a lot of disruptions in our lives but somehow it';s good to get through it and it's all worthwhile... Wishing you a blessed week.

What a lovely post! So much going on! I do like that cool flower holder thingie you used for your zinnias. Very neat. I'm so happy for your new bathroom and new bedroom stuff. Our bed is only a full-size (which works for us), but with a huge, tall headboard. I do wish it were smaller. I'd love a sleigh bed, oh well :) Bless Timmy's heart. Your skies are so blue! I'm ready for those bright fall skies. How's your journal coming? Oh -- I guess it's not time for it yet, is it!!? sorry!

I think you must have had a day just like we did, with clear blue skies and not too warm. I love those kind.
You'll be so glad when the reno is done and your bedroom and bath will be so lovely!! I hope you'll share pictures.

Your sweater is lovely, your granddaughter will love it! It feels so good to finish projects. Your flowers are still pretty and in bloom. My daughter gave me a beautiful birdbath about five or six years ago and we have never seen a bird in it. They do, however, take baths in our swimming pool. The photos of that blue sky are beautiful! Hope you have a great weekend!

Have you ever gone to BSF before? Its Romans this year. I bet you love it! I did BSF for 17 years but you knew that right? I am so glad.
How nice your bedroom and bathroom is getting a redo. You will feel like you are on vacation when its done. Also a new bed, how cool is that? Tim is a beautiful kitty. I love that new sweater you made.
You are going to be a very busy lady. You have a busy September.
Have a lovely weekend.

Lovely to see your much loved home getting a makeover, a good bed is so important, we took hours lying on a lot of them before choosing our mattress - too soft is not good as won't support you but I hope you find the perfect one for you! We are trying to get men to tile our tiny downstairs toilet but it is impossible to find anyone that isn't busy (which is a good sign). Well done for finishing the pink cardi, it's very pretty. I will visit the new blog you found.

Lots of things going on! I hope your bathroom renovations went better than ours - we were disapointed by the finish, but it was difficult to say anything as it was a friend who had done the work.
Give Tim lots of cuddles. Jasper is fine going to the vets, but the others all yowl pitifully.
Your flowers are beautiful.

I love your flowers and that pretty cat. You are very good with your knitting. Living in a remodel is a crazy learning experience. I have done it a few times. Girl, you think you are out of shape..OMG..I can not take the many , many steps involved with moving. I am not only out of shape, I am also toooo old for it. LOL. Blessings to you. Get a picture of your sweet girl in her sweater. xoxo, Susie

You sound very busy with lots going on. Pretty sweater.
Wow that is some blue sky!!!
You might have better luck with your homemade bird baths if you make them shallow. Try using one of those big saucers that go under the big flower pots outside.
All your blooms are beautiful.

That's definitely my type of weeding at the top there, as anyone will tell you who walks past ours! I have two big bags of apple glut from friends' gardens- if I ever get past chores this weekend there could ne apple pie, and then some. I am impressed by your finish weekend. That's a step to far for me, but I like feeling the love of your people busy month x

Yippee for a new look in your master bedroom and bath. Our kids have one of those huge log beds. I'd need a ladder to get into it. LOL. Those zinnias are so pretty. The cardigan is so sweet. Good job!! Glad to see you still had some time to put your feet up! Happy weekend to you.

Remodeling is so tedious to get through, but I am sure the results will make it worth it in the end. Love all the color and light of your photos. The zinnias are precious. We had a bad year for Japanese beetles too. ugh. Mostly they turned the leaves of some of our grapes to "lace." Crafty. ;)

Mattresses are tricky to buy. We bought a new one in March that seemed like it was soft enough at the store but it ended up being a little firmer than we wanted. I'm still adjusting to it. Yay it feels good to finish a project. Cardi looks great.

Ooh, how exciting a new bathroom and bedroom, you will feel like a queen! Sweet little pink cardi. Well done on the finish. Sounds like a fun linky party.

Congrats on finishing the cardigan! I had the same thought on the birdbath; that maybe the water was too deep?
So glad you finally got your dream bedroom and bath. Sleep well!
Good boy, Tim!:)
Happy birthday grandkiddos!

Glad to hear the remodeling is going well. We will be doing a lot of that next summer - in our basement. Your garden pictures are amazing and I love that cute pink cardigan! Perfect for fall. I love that blue sky picture. Denver falls are just perfect. No better place. Colorado autumn are the best. Have a great week!

That sweater is luscious and just right for a little girl! I wish I were a knitting grandma.

It's true about birdbaths - have to be shallow. That's too bad, I always think, because they need refilling so frequently! So mine is usually empty... :-( Poor birds.

The sweater is very cute! I admire knitters/crocheters because I can't do that. The birdies might not like the depth of the bowls.

Oh Pom Pom, I love the beautiful pink sweater for Plum, it will look so lovely on her! It feels great to finish a project! Sounds like your remodeling is going wonderful, and that you will get a nice new comfy mattress out of the deal too, that's exciting! Enjoy the beautiful fallish days... September is a busy but good month indeed. Hugs :)

Your sweater turned out so pretty and looks so soft.
Beautiful blue skies.
Remodeling is always disruptive, but usually so worth it in the end. I like the little sneak peak into your bathroom. The tile looks very pretty. Keeping my fingers crossed that you will share the finished project.

Hi there, it's nice to meet you! Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such a kind comment. Funny that you have a cat named Tim...my son's name is Tim. ;-) The tile work in your bathroom is beautiful. I know what you mean about moving furniture and finding dust bunnies. I think we all can relate!

Thanks for commenting on my blog. Great flower pictures! Hey I didn't read all of the comments to see if anyone told you, but the birds aren't using the birdbaths because they are too deep! They like shallow water. They like to splash around in it. Use a pot bottom or something like that, that is more shallow. See if it helps.
Cute cat! I did some research on tabby cats. I never knew they always have an M on their forehead!
Have a great day!

Trying to catch up here!! Blogging has just gone to the wind recently. :( Can you help me with the details of the nature journal plan? Are you doing this on a certain day each week? Obviously I'm doing lots of nature journaling so could plan to post. :)
