Heat Wave

No, the forsythia isn't blooming yet but the weather today is balmy.  With storms in the east and cold temperatures in the northwest, it's over 70 degrees in my neck of the woods. It's tricky when we have unseasonable weather in February.  I think I will read over some of my old journals and remember that the cold is not gone for good.  Even with the toasty temps I still feel a bit hibernate-ish.  Do you?  My vitamin D levels were low at my last doctor appointment so I've been trying to stroll around outside and now they are normal again.  The truth is that I like staying indoors. With days like this I should be sunbathing but when I went outside to soak up some sun I heard my neighbors talking and noticed they were sitting outside, too.  I didn't want anyone else to be out there so I came inside.  Grinch!

A few years ago we had an early Easter and the dresses were stunning.  Remember last year when I had the Easter dress mishap?  The sewing hit a snag and I wadded up the calico fabric and tried to move on.  I have decided to revel in memories of all the Easter dresses my mother made for us when we were happy little girls.  Fifty-eight year old women can have wonderful and victoriously joyful Easter celebrations without new threads.  (Miss Bug wore a t-shirt under her sparkles because "it itched!")

My sweet Valentine will be in Australia so I'm meeting a friend for coffee and babysitting cutie pies on the actual heart day.  Millie Rose suggested I make heart cookies.  I might but I might not.  I really don't get a big kick out of baking anymore so how am I going to enjoy fika?  Baked goods purchased at the grocery store.  I have two small berry pies in the refrigerator.
There are SO many flowers at the grocery store.  I could buy MANY bunches of daffodils before I have any growing in my garden.  I did buy sweet pea seeds and poppy seeds, too!
I am finally finishing this striped sweater.  Yes!  I am knitting the sleeves at the same time so when I finish them the sweater will be done!  I think I will look a little bit like Winnie the Pooh in a striped sweater but that's okay.
I used to wear bright colors to school because I felt like the atmosphere needed positive charging due to the angst of middle school students and middle school teachers.  I was trying to cheer MYSELF up most of all.  Ha!  Now I have been thinking about the natural colors of sheep and wondering if I should stick to those colors.  I can still pin posies on my sheep-colored clothes.  Heather from Blackberry Rambles is sending me 11 new posies from her stash.  Yippee!
I have a bit of intestinal distress from eating cheese and sour cream (so sad that I must avoid dairy products) so I can't walk too far away from our house if you know what I mean.
I'm going back outside on the patio now. Seventy-eight (really!) degree weather shouldn't be wasted.
God be with you, sweet reader.

It's 40 degrees here and feels like a heatwave! Snow is melting apace.
I know what you mean about wanting to have the outdoors to yourself, ha ha. I did that last summer. I'd go out on my balcony and then feel so exposed because someone else was enjoying the back yard of the apartment. Even though I'm on the second floor! I know people better this year, so maybe I'll use the balcony more. :)
I love all the colors in that sweater, but, yes, I think I'm made more for sheep colors now, too.
It is liberating to get older and not worry about all the fussiness. Just wear what you like!
May you have an early spring! Still feeling hibernatey here, too. I wonder what's going on with MY vitamin D levels. Hmmm...

P.S.-I love the quote in your header! Makes me want to write something!

Oh my goodness! You are having summer in winter. I guess you can identify with dear hubby who is in the land down under and enjoying summer, too. I hope you get over your distress soon. Oye. I have to stay away from too much creamy...
Hope you have a nice weekend.

I know what you mean about wanting to be outside alone. I am the same way. You write the sweetest posts. Wasn't it fun to dress up on Easter Sunday in a new Easter dress, and hat, and shoes, and socks.

How great to have some nice weather in February. We had two days of high 70's, but now today in low 60's with rain. We will take all we can get.

I know what you mean about dairy products - I keep medicine on hand at all times.

Pretty dress's on the girls. Each Easter I always got a new pretty dress, shoes, etc. to go to church. I loved it, but now I just dig through the closet and find something.

Great post - have a great weekend.

It sounds like you are having Texas weather! I am really enjoying our warm winter. Everybody says "wait until July, then you won't think it is so great" so I am behaving as if this winter is really my summer. Strange, I know, but the weather is so nice and we are getting out and about. Haven't looked at the trees yet but something tells me they might be budding out.

I am so envious of your weather!!! Yesterday I don't think we got much above zero and maybe not even there with the wind chill factored in. I am the same way...when I want to sit outside I don't want neighbors gaping at me....nor do I want to listen to them either. lol

Hope you have a blessed weekend. xo Diana

We had a Chinook yesterday and overnight... Warm winds that cut through our icy snow. Today we have lots of bare ground and wet, muddy earth. It smells wet and kinda stinky and earthy. I'm so thankful we have had a lovely warm day of 54 degrees. Yay!

Happy Heart Day to you. I'm thinking about heart sugar cookies or maybe just round ones with icing and sprinkles.

When I think of the leaves and branches that litter our backyard due to all the trees that surround us I despair. But then I think of the lovely privacy they those big evergreens give us and I'm thankful. I want to come to your area and enjoy the warmth. I feel the damp cold of our rainy winters ( well, this year it's more like Snowy winter). Spring!!! Come soon.

Your soup pictured in your header looks delicious!
I heard you were warm in your neck of the woods and boy are you ever!
We too are having strange weather up in the mountains. Weven are nearing mud season way to soon, yet knowing the moisture isn't over yet.

Your sweater is bright and fun, love it!

Enjoy your weekend ♡

78 degrees! How lovely. Here it is cold and frosty, sadly. But the daffodils are coming out now, bright little faces.

I love your daffodils and warm weather. It's so cold here and my water pipes were frozen at the barn this morning.
I hope that your will be feeling well soon. I'm sorry that you can't tolerate dairy products. They are so tasty and versatile..
I can't wait for spring for warmer weather.
Hugs,
Julia

Wow! Seventy degrees sounds like a heat wave! It will be near 40 here today. I will take our new dog on a very long walk in the woods today and listen to snow melt and the creek run.

Love the bright colors of your post... the yellow daffodils and all the brights of the sweater. But, I do LOVE the idea of "sheep colored" knitting. That really appeals to me as very earthy, natural and connected. The posies will be the perfect accessories!

I know exactly what you mean about not wanting anyone else out there! I would have done the same thing. Sorry about you and dairy products. I'd starve to death without my cheese (and legumes). Thanks for the planting reminders -- I need to pick up some sweet pea seeds pronto!

78 degrees! My word! It is 20 here this morning, and winter is still in full swing! I try to get out and get vitamin D here when I can, I love the outdoors, but I wouldn't enjoy it having neighbors that close. I don't blame you at all. We value our peace and privacy. Sounds like you have a lovely V-day planned in spite of your sweetie not being home. Hugs to you today friend :)

It's sub-zero temps here this weekend so no sitting outdoors for me. I didn't even go outdoors today except to the wheelie bin (trash can!), then quickly ran back indoors. I know what you mean about not sharing outdoor spaces. I have absolutely fabulous neighbours but in the Summer they practically live outside and I get little or no privacy in my garden, which I love to potter around in, silently!! I'd also like you to know that I'm interrupting an episode (Season 6, Episode 9) of Gilmore Girls to write to you! I'd like to live in Stars Hollow and I'd also like a 'Luke' in my life but in his absence, I've got my knitting. I love your cheery knitting. By a process of elimination, I now know which foods are better avoided to keep my stomach happy. Those yoghurts with bidifidus stuff in them are good for settling an upset tum. As for baking, I made a banana and chocolate cake the other day and you could have used it as a frisbee!!A baker I am not, though I did make some marvellous marmalade so at least I can do something right! Lots of Love.xxx

Oh my word! That is so warm. We are at 35 and supposed to get warmer this week, which is causing flooding. Not at my place but around the city. I think it is wonderful that you love bold colors. It makes me smile when I think about your sweaters. Bummer about the cheese, I am that way with ice cream. I only have it, if I am going to stay home....LOL Have a great Valentine's Day! Kit

Our is mild then cold and is causing a lot of bugs to grow - I have my third head cold this year. Your knitting is colourful and fun. Betty x

My azaleas are blooming like crazy now with this warmer weather. I just love all the colors in your sweater! I don't do much baking anymore either. I can't really eat it and it's just me now so... Have a blessed day.

I love the pictures of the girls in their pretty dresses. I love your knitting and how happy it looks.
I hope you are feeling better now.

We were at 80 degrees on Thursday! Today cold and cloudy. No snow yet. :Love all your photos. Very lovely. I always had a new hat for Easter with my big sisters. Mom shopped at House of Paris. I sure miss those days. We had a steak and lobster dinner early Saturday. Don't like those crowds on Valentine's Day! I noticed the flowers are double the price! So I will wait until the holiday passes.
Have a beautiful week. Blessings and hugs!

How pretty, Sweet Peas and Poppies...perfect choice! I love your stripey sweater. I always love colourful woollies but I know what you mean about sheep hued ones. A beautiful vibrant posy pinned to your woolly sounds perfect to me. Hope your tummy is feeling better soon.
