January Joy

Baby, it's REALLY cold outside in Colorado.  We had a fire in the fireplace yesterday as we watched the Bronco football game (sad loss) and it was extra-deliciously cozy!
Since I do pretty much all of my shopping at the grocery store, I'm glad I occasionally find cute stuff like this!  Owls are happy, don't you think?
Shirley-Girl the bread maker is producing beautiful bread!
The vitamin C is so beautiful.  Look at the Cuties shine!
Remember the sleep over I told you we were having?  We went to the bakery for dinner and then to the library.  After that it was time to watch a fairy movie and then bed.  In the morning, we nested on the sofa.
Today we saw our Ft. Collins grands.  Can you believe Atticus is almost one year old?  Look at his shiny eyes!
His daddy turned thirty-two.  We have been parents for thirty-two years!  Did I tell you that Brad is learning to play the bagpipes?  He's a good Scotsman.
Brad and April sent me this pop-up book for Christmas.  It is so pretty.

 Now, about the cards . . .
There are no rules when it comes to the 4 by 6 inch notecards.  I just write on them as inspiration and consideration comes to me.
The temporary "holding pen" is the monthly brown envelope.
At the end of the month I shall sort the cards and put them into the boxes.  This way, I can reflect on how many cards are in each and consider where I am "at" and then progress from there.  So you see, I am simply writing and drawing more, thinking and praying more, and using a smaller surface to scribble in my normal fashion.

THIS is a good book.  I know that I am fairly corrupted when it comes to ignoring internal cues and defaulting to external cues. In an even bigger way, I want to tend my interior life and guard my heart from taxing exterior forces. I think this book hits the nail on the head (sorry for the cliche).  Enough said. I don't usually review books, I just show their pictures.  Smile.
Well, take care of your good selves, Winter People.
Keep your toes toasty and your neck warm.   To my dear friends below the equator, wear those flip flops with high joy!

We were also very sad about our Broncos loss. We lived in Wheatridge for 5 years and became lifelong Elway and Bronco fans. Love the idea of your cards. What a great project. :) Kit

Julia saw your owls and agreed with you -- owls are very HAPPY!! :) Your new books is so very, very beautiful. What a thoughtful gift! I know you'll enjoy it so much. And now I think I understand your 4x6 cards better. The scattered thoughts we have, you are putting down so you don't forget them. I have fleeting thoughts too, all day, but i don't remember them. I'm eager to see how the system works for you, and how it's helpful :) Your new background is so fun!! I can't wear those pointy toed shoes, but they are fun to look at. So 50s!!

Love the red polka dot pumps. Those are something my 20 year old daughter would wear. She got red polka dot Toms for Christmas. :)

I like your note cards. I've been doing something similar with a planner/calendar that has individual days. xoxo

Hi TexWis! You can come over and play with the vintage Fisher Price doll house! I love it! I'm so glad I saved it. Yes, our two sons are so wonderful and our daughters are loving and faithful, too. We are blessed. The bagpipes are loud! Brad has to wear earplugs! Thank you for saying our g-babes are cute!
Hi Kit! Oh, it was a sad day when the Broncos lost and I'm sad about the Seahawks, too. I didn't know you lived in Wheatridge! You know my land!
Hello dear MK! I thought the pointy toed polka dot shoes were pretty cute, but I NEVER wear heels. I can't walk in them! Does Julia love owls? I am loving them more and more. I'm glad my notecard plan is finally making a little sense! I don't think I made myself clear at first. Oh, and thank you for liking my flower book. It's so fun. I love pop-ups.
Thank you for coming by! I got rid of the reply feature because it was taking one hundred years to load between comments.

Oh a sad loss in deed. Nice cozy fired. I love the pop up book for adults. Lovely. Little Atticus is so cute with his little teeth. I am back to school Tuesday. Keep warm.

Hi Ann! I hope your first day back feels good! It seems like we are granted great grace when we step back into the learning world, doesn't it? It doesn't take long to feel like we never left!
At least the cold weather makes for good sleeping!
Thank you for stopping by and thank you for thinking our Atticus is so cute!

Awesome post...love spending time with the grands, that bread looks delicious... I can almost smell it! If I wore heels I would soooo have those red shoes!

The little red house looks fun, I wanted to look inside and arrange the furniture for you. Owls are spiritual, mystical creatures I think and make me think of the woods, they remind me of walks across fields with my grandad at dusk waiting to see them swoop for a mouse - the suspense was unbearable! I like your cards idea - I do this a lot on scraps of paper but then throw them away, shame I didn't keep them all. We had a sprinkle of snow this morning - excitement all round. Blessings. Betty x

Your updates always makeme smile, The pop up card was just the perfect present for you...sweet.

It is minus yes minus 10 degrees right now in GJ! Stay warm! Keep the fairies ensconced in love.

I love your cards! What a great idea. Of course, now I want to do that, too, but I can't take on any new projects! I am journaling a lot, which is so helpful to my head. I want to read Beautiful You--I'm feeling bad about my aging body right now (especially my neck), and this makes me mad.

Have a lovely week, Double-P!

Oh that inner monologue, not generally a nurturing voice at all. I hope your books and cards will bring you much joy and discovery and encouragement. But those shoes?! My goodness, I feel a big dose of vertigo coming on at the mere sight of them! Those are the shoes to silence an inner monologue!

Oh, I sure do miss our woodstove sometimes! (I do appreciate not having to get up in the middle of the night to stoke it, though!) Your little grandgirls sure do get some nice spoiling! Look at those little sofa-side tables for refreshments! A fairy movie sounds like a great idea! Atticus is growing like a weed! Woo-hoo!
I get what you're doing with the cards. Great idea to capture thoughts of every kind to look at later.
I survived the first day back at school. It's looking more do-able. At least, we're all in the same boat!
Oh, I'm not the only one who needs to work on what her internal voice is saying? :)
Hugs!

Hi Debi! I know! The shoes are cute, but so pointy! I couldn't bear to walk in them.
Hi Betty! I like knowing that about owls! I like them so much! I'm glad you had a bit of snow!
Hi Nancy! Oh my goodness! Stay warm! Yes, I love the pop up book! The poems are classics.
Hi Frances! I like Beautiful You so far. It's a very kind book. Good for you with all that journaling! I'm trying to keep up with my morning pages.
Hi Brad! It was so lovely to spend time with you on your birthday. Your actual BIRTH day was a life changer for me. I fell in love with you immediately. (BIG HUG!)
Hi Patty! Yummy! I'd like a chocolate chip cookie about now!
HI Kim! Thank you! I do love to write. I've always loved to scribble! I have to have just the right pen and sometimes I can't find my favorites.
I think we can all pretend we're wearing polka dot pumps! I actually wore hikers today to keep my feet warm!
Hi Lisa! No, that inner voice must be re-trained. You are NOT the only one who argues with the voice, putting her in her place and moving forward. Isn't it amazing how we allow those "calf paths of the mind" to form?

Hi Mags! I don't know why your comment didn't publish the first time. Hmmm. Ha ha! The heels are for girls who sit down. Who could run around a room in them? They are pretty though! I love polka dots in all shapes and sizes.
Yes, the inner voice that is a result of exterior concerns. We must ignore.

Yes, that was a sad loss!

But I love the pointy-toed red shoes with white polka dots!

The book looks interesting and helpful.

Hi Janette! You ALWAYS say the nicest things! I'm glad you feel cheered and inspired! I am always inspired by your blog!
Hi Shey! I hope you are having a nice week with the kindergarteners! I knew you'd like the shoes!
Hi Sara! The book is interesting. Some of it doesn't jive with my own reasons for tending the interior life, but it DOES make sense on a lot of levels.

Just tossing those thoughts onto index cards really works for me. I'm more the artsy type than the organized type and thoughts to cards to envelopes... yup, works for me.

Your grands are all beautiful and healthy and happy. I love it when they grace your blog.

Great shoes, love the polka dots... are those your feet? ;)

Blessings, Debbie
