Just Thinking

 Hello and welcome!
I know I've shown you this pint-size coffee set before.  Sorry.  I like to look at it.
I might use it when a friend comes over for coffee/tea on Thursday. I don't think she'll mind drinking from a small cup, do you?
My brother is having surgery on Monday or Tuesday and I am praying for him.

When I was working on my Thin Within study this morning I came upon a sweet bit of truth.  She reminded me that my body is fearfully and wonderfully made and is to be protected by establishing godly boundaries.  I've read a lot about boundaries and I'm sure you have, too.  Boundaries are different than laws and rules.  Boundaries can keep us safe.  I'm feeling pretty good about boundaries now.

It is quiet here.  The refrigerator is humming (it is in the dining room due to the kitchen revamp). Bill is over at Jeff's house helping in the yard.  I'm deliberately enjoying the peace and trying not to panic at the thought of peace often being short-lived.  Even after almost a year from the time I stopped teaching middle school, I still hear a small pushy voice that says, "What should you be doing?  Go wash the sheets on the guest beds.  Sweep the floor.  Plant your zinnias.  You COULD do it NOW!" The nagging little voice is getting weaker, so that's good.
(I wish I still had these tree print pajama pants.  I do have the bunny slippers.)
My favorite article of clothing is still my flannel rose print pajama pants.  I am very thankful not to be busy every moment with event after event or commitment after commitment.
With a mind seeking to move away from the trivial and toward the eternal, I love this verse:
"Watch, stand fast in the faith and be brave, be strong.  Let all that you do be done with love."
I Corinthians 16: 13-14

I think that voice will always be a part of who I am. I will be home alone on Wednesday. All day. I have decided I will do a quiet day and try to not listen to that voice. We will see though.
I am praying today, as another friend is going through a very bad loss. My heart is heavy.
I love seeing your pictures knowing that joy is always in the small things.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made. We forget that don't we?
I know I sure do.
I do love that Bible Study.
How cute your fridge is in the living room. :) I love your coffee cups. I would like coffee in them too. Have a lovely day,

Your tiny coffee cups set is pretty and I would drink from them. I enjoy being retired and keeping busy when I want and have quiet times too. Your pjs are cute.

The coffee cups are cute! Enjoy your retirement and listen to perhaps another way in which God wants you to serve him maybe!? He maybe wants you to take the time to rest in him and know him better!x

quiet time is a must for everyone I think. I am glad those voices are getting quieter and you are doing things at your pace.

Love your tiny tea set! I will keep your brother in my prayers... hope all goes well. I feel the same about retirement... I worked long and hard, but still there are times when I feel like I should be DOING. Like you, that voice is fading...

Oh, I do know about that 'Inner Voice'. Mine is never silenced and I have to often ignore it for as you say...some peace. I'd love tea from your tiny cup...thank you. I have favorite pj's, too. They are white, thin with vintage lace I've added. Love your bunny scuffies, too. I like the 'Let all that you do be done with love". Happy June!!!

I was reading your post, the part where you wrote that you were deliberately enjoying the peace except that I misread and thought you said desperately enjoying the peace. It is so nice to be able to relax and not "have to" do so many things. Enjoy each day!!

It reminds me of the saying of " do your work, whatever it is, as unto the Lord."

We all need some rest and quiet time. God even gave us a special day for it - Sunday's. : )

I like that Corrinthians quote. Hope you don't get tempted to do too much housework today and enjoy just 'being'.

I can't believe it is that long since you retired! Enjoy every moment.

Oh my. That inner voice keeps me on my feet, ever after many years of retirement. I need to learn to relax. I too love that verse in Corinthians. A very pretty bowl of ice cream!

Oh, Pom. You describe that nagging inner voice SO WELL. i have the exact same voice. All day, every day. Telling me to go DO. Telling me to do it FASTER. Sigh. You know, it's also a bit wearying to silence that voice, over and over. It goes against my grain of trying to use each minute most efficiently. As if being stressed and worried and tired is efficient! :) Thanks for the reminder. Perhaps we ladies should do something tangible to remind us, like wearing bedroom slippers ALL day for some days (maybe not to church?), to remind us that we are to be moving slower and relaxing. haha :) We'd get some stares!

I'm having beach yearnings. Must go to the beach this week. That helps the spring to unwind.

Waiting for your kitchen pics. I'm excited.

Can you post a link to Badger's latest place? I went back looking for where you put it in a recent post, but couldn't find it. Thanks :)

A verse that helped me yesterday morning: "Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be discouraged. The Lord your God is with you wherever you go." My paraphrase, but it soothed the waters.

I love your remarks about boundaries! And I have to work at quieting that voice, especially when I'm supposed to be just sitting out in the garden relaxing and I keep spotting things that need to be done and even jumping up to pull a weed. If we are at a stage of life where we don't have to "punch a clock," we need to just enjoy, and be grateful for, it.

I'll come and 'do' for you - as long as you have plenty of that scrummy looking ice-cream!! xxx

Hubby has gone on an over night fishing trip to Wyoming, so I am having quiet time. I worked on the dollhouse most of the day yesteray, so toay I must work. Being retired is a bit odd, but I am enjoying it and we seem busier than ever. Do you miss that structure that work provided? Perhaps that what it is. Have a fab day.

I panic a little when my quiet alone time is over! I wish I were coming over for coffee in a small cup poured from a happy green pot.

Onward and upward to more eternal thoughts. And ice cream! :)

Flannel pj's, cosy slippers and ice cream - looks like you're doing a great job at ignoring your nagging alter ego! Retirement is supposed to be fun, enjoy!

I am intrigued by your "Thin Within" program so I googled it and looked at the books. Can you tell me about it? Do you have to join the classes or can you just obtain the materials and do the study? This sounds like something I would be very interested in learning about.
