Knitting and Sewing

I'll start and finish with Timothy because he is never far away.  Only once in a blue moon does he find a place to hide.  Most of the time he is very near.  He's a comfort cat (not a comfort peacock - did you read about that?)

On Sunday I decided to make a hat for Kelli.  I knit and knit all day, but some of the hand painted roving yarn is too fat and sticks out too much.  I'm so picky about finished objects.  I rarely love what I make.  Why is that?
You must see that I look like a beehive head.  Oh well.

Sometimes with sewing, I'm less picky about outcomes.  My neighbor gave me two little doll quilts so I incorporated them into the polka dot plans I had for Miss Bug's doll bed.  Ann had to try out the bed.

I finished one of my #100actsofsewing outfits.  I had this purple plaid fabric left over from a "maybe" dress 20 plus years ago.  Can you see the pants?  I've always wanted to wear long dresses with pants showing at the bottom.  I wore this yesterday and felt kind of conspicuous because at the coffee shop I was at with a friend people were wearing tight jeans and boots.  Ha!  I asked Bill what he thought and he said, "I like you better in tighter clothes 😍 but it is YOU!"  So funny.  I asked him if it looked like something Raggedy Ann would wear and he said, "Yes."  I guess I'm kind of a chicken.  Sorry the photo is taken in the bathroom (the loo as Annie Nana Go Go says) but we still don't have a full length mirror.

My niece who has four kids and a busy pastor husband uses this cookbook.  I like it, too.  Although, as I am trying to transform into a skinny person who EATS like a skinny person for the rest of my life, some of the recipes are a little too hearty.  I guess I can adapt some of them so they are more Weight Watcher friendly.  I do miss some of my junky food habits.  I wish cake wasn't so high in calories.  Ha!  So does everyone else!  Silly Pom Pom.
I'll end with our sweet furry baby!  He is such a blessing.  I love cats.  I don't want more than one though because then I stop appreciating them (too much cat box clean up).
I had lots of fun with my family in Washington.  I didn't take any outside photos because the weather was pretty dismal.  I'm not used to rain and grey skies anymore.  I'm thankful for sunshine.
Thank you for coming by to say hello.  I missed you!

I want to wear long tunics with leggings. My daughter says no, I am too old and she doesn't like leggings. I didn't say SHE should wear leggings. She is all blinged out tight jeans and cowboy boots. We are so different. I am thinking of trying my hand at sewing for myself again. I haven't done that in about 150 years. It didn't work well when I was lithe, I doubt it will go better now but I am thinking about it. I like the cat. We are allergic.

I do agree with you about the calories in cake, it isn't fair, is it?

It sounds so good! Love the photo of you -- very cute. And of course I always adore Timothy. He's so handsome. The hat is darling!

You are too young and too cute ...your hubby's right get you some tight jeggings and boots. LOL. I like that gypsy look myself but will not wear it. I think you are very good at knitting and sewing. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Yes I did see the comfort peacock. ;) Timothy always looks so comfy.
I love your outfit. I have always wanted to dress like that too. I think it looks wonderful. I know I would wear it. I used to dress like that when the kids were younger. Now, it is too warm it seems or it just could be me.
I love your knitting too. I think it looks good. That is a nice cookbook. I had it but Makenzie wanted it so I let her have it.
I am using the Wheat Belly cookbook now. :)
I hope you have a splendid day.

I LOVE the outfit! I think it looks great on you and you didn't need to hide in the loo to take the photo. lol
Love your kitty-The perfect beginning and ending to a day, I think.
I wear skinny straight skirts with tights underneath and layered tunic tops most of the winter months. I feel good in them and that is what matters to me.
I love that cookbook- I have three of hers. If that is the one with the meatloaf recipe in it my kids said it was the best meatloaf they had ever eaten.
Hope you have a great rest of the day. xo Diana

I love the Pioneer Woman too but I'm with you, most of the recipes are just so bad for you. Ha! I do make her baked beans, which are great for potlucks, and once in a great while, her sausage gravy. I think your outfit is really cute! I've finally come around to wearing leggings under skirts and dresses. I'm too cold otherwise, but I used to try to get away with it and was usually miserable! Hope you're having a good week. :)

You are too hard on yourself. Your knitting is lovely!
I'm a jeans type person.

Pompom, I think you are adorable in whatever you're wearing. I think you are also a fun person to be with and never boring. By the way, I love your beehive hat. It's an improvement on the knitted hat I wear to the barn...

I'm so glad Timothy is such a comfortable cat for you. He's got you all to himself.
Take care and stay well and happy.
Hugs, Julia

fun!! I have decided that it is better to bake (such as cake), give most of it away (church or an event) and eat 1 or 2 pieces myself and just try to maintain where I am (in terms of weight) and not worry too much.... (when I was young I wanted to weigh more, now that I am still young but 41 instead of 21, I just want to not gain a ton more than I have since I started gaining weight about year 35 :) So I am so not into whatever is in style for the most part. I don't wear anything tight or skinny. In winter I wear (Birkenstock, no heels) tall boots, longish skirts and tuck the pants I have under it into the boots and off I go, warm, happy and comfy! :) Mys-well just be yourself, fashion is always changing (and really so much of it now is un-admirable it seems), why not wear as you wish... :)

I don't have any of Ree's cookbooks but boy they are a bit rich/full fat aren't they?! Well, all in moderation, right? :)

Well, I think you look great and your hubby answered just right. I hate tight clothes too. You have your own style. ☺ I just reached over and petted my old cat, such a comfort. Kit

I like the bedding you made for Miss Bug's doll crib. All those pretty fabrics! Although I can't sew worth a hill of beans I used to make doll blankets when my girls were small. It was a lot of fun. Timothy looks like a lot of fun too! A very cozy cat.

Pleased to see you're back, have missed your posts. Your Timothy is a pamperred pet with his catlit loo, Amber has to do her business in the garden, then I periodically pick out anything icky and fling over the fence into the woods and beyond (hope nobody is walking past when I do it!) she must be tough as she goes out all weathers, even thick snow. I like your knitted hat, it's chunky and cosy but I absolutely love your dress and trousers showing, the materials are lovely, it suits you really well, makes you look like an artist all you need is a palet and brush! betty x

Cats are very necessary comforts, I feel. Your Tim looks very comfortable. Jasper spent most of last night on my feet - and he's a heavy beast!!
Your clothes look comfortable and jolly and fun - just like you! Do you know this company https://www.gudrunsjoden.com/ I think their clothes would be right up your street! I bought one of their tops recently - I love it!

Love that doll bedding. What a lucky little girl to have such doll comforts. Your knitted hat is cute, yes, beehive-ish, but the pictured one kind of is too, isn't it? I think you look just cute as can be. I'm sure that Bill likes to see your curves more. That's what husbands want to see, right? My hubby is the same and the thinner I get, the more I want to see my curves too.

That Timmy is a cool cat!

Your outfit is perfect on you. Once the good weather comes back, I'll be donning my baggy linen trews and tunic tops too. They're just so comfortable. I may make a couple of new tops from some dotty linen in my stash. I wear jeans everyday for work so get bored with them easily. Quite frankly, you could wear a potato sack over your head and still look gorgeous!!!!Glad you had a good time in the Capital. Also, keep knitting!! Must go, I'm off to the loo!!!xxx

Arh Timothy. I love the photo of you standing on the toilet. I thought I was the only one doing funny things like that. You look beautiful. Have a lovely weekend, Cathy x

I think you look darling in your outfit. I like to wear swing dresses with leggings. Everyone has their own style. It's one of the things that sets us apart from everyone else. Every once in a while I have to stand on the edge of our tub to see myself in the mirror. I don't have a full length mirror either. :)

All of us Washingtonians hope for brighter days for sure. Glad you had a good visit despite our weather. Eating skinny...now that's a concept I might need to adopt. Years ago when I joined WW with a friend it really worked for me. That little doll quilt is very sweet. Happy knitting with your furry friend always by your side!

I like long tunics over jeans. I think you look "cool". ;)
I've decided to try to wear 100% cotton all the time because I seem to be so overly sensitive to things. Flannel shirts all winter, cotton clothing all summer. I don't care if I wear the same thing every day. So there.
I don't have a decent knit cap. I'm trying to get myself to knit one. I've watched a couple of videos that make it look pretty simple. Just have to do it!
Yeah, I suspect that the Pioneer Woman's recipes would be pretty farmhand hearty, lol. I'm also trying to eat healthy. Keep up the good work, friend!

We missed you too, Pom, but glad you had a good trip up to family. I like the "look" you like also :) Are you wearing lacy socks in that photo? They are cute, and your shoes are too. The hat - I really like it! I see the roving you're talking about, but i think it looks fine. A very fun hat :) Timmy looks happy that you are home.

I love that look of dresses with pants - a young expat lady here was wearing the same and she looked cute, too -- she called it her "fusion" style because you know the Indian ladies often wear kurtas which are long or longer shirts with pants underneath. Very practical, too. I think it's a sort of international look :-) But hard to find pants that aren't too bulky under the dress... guess that's where leggings come in, but they aren't the same.

I rather like your new outfit, very much. I think it is brave to wear what you like rather than what everyone else is wearing. Hey, if your friends jumped off a bridge would you jump, too? Oh, and the hat . . . so cute!
Have a lovely day.
Connie :)

Your hubby may not like it, but I think you're adorable! Hubbies like sexy clothes. Go figure! lol That doll bed looks so comfortable. I want to get into it! Ann has the right idea. Take care, dear Pom!

I am new to your blog and I have to say you look wonderful in that outfit. I love it and who cares if others are wearing tight jeans, I am all about comfort and if I have anything tight on I have something looser on top , just to cover my behind. Be proud of what you are wearing, you did a great job with your dress.

I say wear what you are comfortable with, even if its not in style.

That Timmy is so cute and cuddly, I think he wants to be with you all the time.

Glad you had a good time with family.

Have a wonderful week,

Mary

I have a couple pair of tights. I like them with a couple of my skirts but rarely wear them! I was just thinking most of my clothes I don't wear very often but have my favorite few! I am a dog person but when I can't have a dog I will have a cat! Nancy
